Neutrino Oscillations in a Predictive SUSY GUT

In this letter we present a predictive SO(10) SUSY GUT with flavor symmetry U(2) \times U(1) which has several nice features. We are able to fit fermion masses and mixing angles, including recent neutrino data, with 9 parameters in the charged fermion sector and 4 in the neutrino sector. The flavor symmetry plays a preeminent role -- (i) The model is "natural" -- we include all terms allowed by the symmetry. It restricts the number of arbitrary parameters and enforces many zeros in the effective mass matrices. (ii) Flavor symmetry breaking from U(2) \times U(1) \to U(1) \to nothing generates the family hierarchy. It also constrains squark and slepton mass matrices, thus ameliorating flavor violation resulting from squark and slepton loop contributions. (iii) Finally, it naturally gives large angle $ν_μ- ν_τ$ mixing describing atmospheric neutrino oscillation data and small angle $ν_e - ν_{s}$ mixing consistent with the small mixing angle MSW solution to solar neutrino data.

A Gauge Mediation Model of Dynamical Supersymmetry Breaking without Color Instability

We construct a gauge mediation model of dynamical supersymmetry breaking (DSB) based on a vector-like gauge theory, in which there is a unique color-preserving true vacuum. The DSB scale $Λ/4π$ turns out to be as high as $Λ/4π\simeq 10^{8-9} GeV$, since the transmission of the DSB effects to the standard model sector is completed through much higher loops. This model is perfectly natural and phenomenologically consistent. We also stress that the dangerous D-term problem for the messenger U(1)_m is automatically solved by a charge conjugation symmetry in the vector-like gauge theory.

Direct-Transmission Models of Dynamical Supersymmetry Breaking

We systematically construct gauge-mediated supersymmetry(SUSY)-breaking models with direct transmission of SUSY-breaking effects to the standard-model sector. We obtain a natural model with the gravitino mass $m_{3/2}$ smaller than 1 keV as required from the standard cosmology. If all Yukawa coupling constants are of order one,the SUSY-breaking scale $m_{SUSY}$ transmitted into the standard-model sector is given by $m_{SUSY} \simeq 0.1 α_i/(4π) Λ$ where $Λ$ is the original dynamical SUSY-breaking scale. Imposing $m_{SUSY} \simeq (10^2-10^3)$ GeV, we get $Λ\simeq (10^5-10^6)$ GeV, which yields the gravitino mass $m_{3/2}\simeq (10^{-2}-1)$ keV.

Lepton-Flavor Violation in the Supersymmetric Standard Model with Seesaw-Induced Neutrino Masses

We examine the lepton-flavor violation caused by a Yukawa coupling matrix $y_{ν,ij}$ for right-handed neutrinos in the supersymmetric standard model. We stress that decay rates for $τ\rightarrowμγ$ and $μ\rightarrow eγ$ may reach the range to be accessible to near future experiments if left-right mixing terms in the slepton mass matrix are substantially large.
