A combined analysis of the $Z_c(3900)$ and the $Z_{cs}(3985)$ exotic states

We have performed a combined analysis of the BESIII data for both the $Z_c(3900)$ and $Z_{cs}(3985)$ structures, assuming that the latter is an SU(3) flavor partner of the former one. We have improved on the previous analysis of Albaladejo $et$ $al.$ [Phys. Lett. B 755, 337 (2016)] by computing the amplitude for the $D_1\bar{D}D^*$ triangle diagram considering both $D$ and $S$-wave $D_1D^*π$ couplings. We have also investigated effects from SU(3) light-flavor violations, which are found to be moderate and of the order of 20%. The successful reproduction of the BESIII spectra, in both the hidden-charm and hidden-charm strange sectors, strongly supports that the $Z_{cs}(3985)$ and $Z_c(3900)$ are SU(3) flavor partners placed in the same octet multiplet. The best results are obtained when an energy-dependent term in the diagonal $D^{(*)}\bar D_{(s)}^{(*)}$ interaction is included, leading to resonances (poles above the thresholds) to describe these exotic states. We have also made predictions for the isovector $Z_{c}^*$ and isodoublet $Z_{cs}^*$, $D^*\bar{D}^*$ and $D^*\bar{D}_{s}^*$ molecules, with $J^{PC}=1^{+-}$ and $J^{P}=1^{+}$, respectively. These states would be heavy-quark spin symmetry partners of the $Z_{c}$ and $Z_{cs}$. Besides the determination of the masses and widths of the $Z_c(3900)$ and $Z_{cs}(3985)$, we also predict those of the $Z_c^*$ and $Z_{cs}^*$ resonances.

Coupled-channel approach to $T_{cc}^+$ including three-body effects

A coupled-channel approach is applied to the charged tetraquark state $T_{cc}^+$ recently discovered by the LHCb Collaboration. The parameters of the interaction are fixed by a fit to the observed line shape in the three-body $D^0D^0π^+$ channel. Special attention is paid to the three-body dynamics in the $T_{cc}^+$ due to the finite life time of the $D^*$. An approach to the $T_{cc}^+$ is argued to be self-consistent only if both manifestations of the three-body dynamics, the pion exchange between the $D$ and $D^*$ mesons and the finite $D^*$ width, are taken into account simultaneously to ensure that three-body unitarity is preserved. This is especially important to precisely extract the pole position in the complex energy plane whose imaginary part is very sensitive to the details of the coupled-channel scheme employed. The $D^0D^0$ and $D^0D^+$ invariant mass distributions, predicted based on this analysis, are in good agreement with the LHCb data. The low-energy expansion of the $D^*D$ scattering amplitude is performed and the low-energy constants (the scattering length and effective range) are extracted. The compositeness parameter of the $T_{cc}^+$ is found to be close to unity, which implies that the $T_{cc}^+$ is a hadronic molecule generated by the interactions in the $D^{*+}D^0$ and $D^{*0}D^+$ channels. Employing heavy-quark spin symmetry, an isoscalar $D^*D^*$ molecular partner of the $T_{cc}^+$ with $J^P=1^+$ is predicted under the assumption that the $ DD^*$-$D^*D^*$ coupled-channel effects can be neglected.

Effective range expansion for narrow near-threshold resonances

We discuss some general features of the effective range expansion, the content of its parameters with respect to the nature of the pertinent near-threshold states and the necessary modifications in the presence of coupled channels, isospin violations and unstable constituents. As illustrative examples, we analyse the properties of the $χ_{c1}(3872)$ and $T_{cc}^+$ states supporting the claim that these exotic states have a predominantly molecular nature.

Is the $Λ_c(2625)^+$ the heavy quark spin symmetry partner of the $Λ_c(2595)^+$?

We use a $\mathcal{O}(Λ_\text{QCD}/m_c)$ heavy quark effective theory scheme, where only $\mathcal{O}(Λ_\text{QCD}/m_b)$ and perturbative QCD short distance corrections are neglected, to study the matrix elements of the scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, axial-vector and tensor currents between the $Λ_b$ ground state and the odd parity charm $Λ_c(2595)^+$ and $Λ_c(2625)^+$ resonances. We show that in the near-zero recoil regime, the scheme describes reasonably well, taking into account uncertainties, the results for the 24 form-factors obtained in lattice QCD (LQCD) just in terms of only 4 Isgur-Wise (IW) functions. We also find some support for the possibility that the $Λ_c(2595)^+$ and $Λ_c(2625)^+$ resonances might form a heavy-quark spin symmetry (HQSS) doublet. However, we argue that the available LQCD description of these two resonances is not accurate enough to disentangle the possible effects of the $Σ_c π$ and $Σ_c^*π$ thresholds, located only a few MeV above their position, and that it cannot be ruled out that these states are not HQSS partners. Finally, we study the ratio $\frac{dΓ[Λ_b\to Λ_{c,1/2^-}^* \ell \barν_\ell]/dq^2}{dΓ[Λ_b\to Λ_{c,3/2^-}^*\ell \barν_\ell]/dq^2}$ of the Standard Model differential semileptonic decay widths, with $q^μ$ the momentum transferred between the initial and final hadrons. We provide a natural explanation for the existence of large deviations, near the zero recoil, of this ratio from 1/2 (value predicted in the infinite heavy quark mass limit, assuming that the $Λ_{c,1/2^-}^*$ and $Λ_{c,3/2^-}^*$ are the two members of a HQSS doublet) based on S-wave contributions to the $Λ_b\to Λ_{c,1/2^-}^*$ decay amplitude driven by a sub-leading IW function.

New parametrization of the form factors in $\bar{B}\to D\ell\barν_\ell$ decays

A new model-independent parametrization is proposed for the hadronic form factors in the semileptonic $\bar{B}\to D\ell\barν_\ell$ decay. By a combined consideration of the recent experimental and lattice QCD data, we determine precisely the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cb}|=41.01(75)\times 10^{-3}$ and the ratio $\mathcal{R}_D=\frac{\mathcal{BR}(\bar{B}\to D τ\barν_τ)}{\mathcal{BR}(\bar{B}\to D \ell \barν_\ell)}=0.301(5)$. The coefficients in this parametrization, related to phase shifts by sumrulelike dispersion relations and hence called phase moments, encode important scattering information of the $\bar{B}\bar{D}$ interactions which are poorly known so far. Thus, we give strong hints about the existence of at least one bound and one virtual $\bar B \bar D$ $S$-wave $0^+$ states, subject to uncertainties produced by potentially sizable inelastic effects. This formalism is also applicable for any other semileptonic processes induced by the weak $b\to c$ transition.

On the nature of the lowest-lying odd parity charmed baryon $Λ_c(2595)$ and $Λ_c(2625)$ resonances

We study the structure of the $Λ_c(2595)$ and $Λ_c(2625)$ resonances in the framework of an effective field theory consistent with heavy quark spin and chiral symmetries, that incorporates the interplay between $Σ_c^{(*)}π-ND^{(*)}$ baryon-meson degrees of freedom and bare P-wave $c\bar ud$ quark-model states. We show that these two resonances are not HQSS partners. The $J^P= 3/2^-$ $Λ_c(2625)$ should be viewed mostly as a dressed three quark state, whose origin is determined by a bare state, predicted to lie very close to the mass of the resonance. The $J^P= 1/2^-$ $Λ_c(2595)$ seems to have, however, a predominant molecular structure. This is because, it is either the result of the chiral $Σ_cπ$ interaction, which threshold is located much more closer than the mass of the bare three-quark state, or because the light degrees of freedom in its inner structure are coupled to the unnatural $0^-$ quantum-numbers. We show that both situations can occur depending on the renormalization procedure used. We find some additional states, but the classification of the spectrum in terms of HQSS is difficult, despite having used interactions that respect this symmetry. This is because the bare quark-model state and the $Σ_cπ$ threshold are located extraordinarily close to the $Λ_c(2625)$ and $Λ_c(2595)$, respectively, and hence they play totally different roles in each sector.

$Ω_c$ excited states: a molecular approach with heavy-quark spin symmetry

The LHCb Collaboration has recently discovered five excited $Ω_c$ states with masses between 3 and 3.1 GeV, four of them corroborated by the Belle Collaboration. We analyse the dynamical generation of these states within a molecular baryon-meson model that is consistent with both chiral and heavy-quark spin symmetries. Earlier predictions within this model found five $Ω_c$ states with masses below 3 GeV. Thus, in order to study the possible identification of any of these states with the experimental ones in the correct energy region, we explore two different regularization schemes, that is, a modified regularization subtraction method and a cutoff regularization scheme. We find that at least three of the dynamically generated states can be identified with the experimental ones and have spin-parity $J=1/2^-$ or $J=3/2^-$

$D^\ast_{s0}(2317)$ and $DK$ scattering in $B$ decays from BaBar and LHCb data

We study the experimental $DK$ invariant mass spectra of the reactions $B^+ \to \bar{D}^0 D^0 K^+$, $B^0 \to D^- D^0 K^+$ (measured by the BaBar Collaboration) and $B_s \to π^+ \bar{D}^0 K^-$ (measured by the LHCb Collaboration), where an enhancement right above the threshold is seen. We show that this enhancement is due to the presence of $D^\ast_{s0}(2317)$, which is a $DK$ bound state in the $I(J^P) = 0(0^+)$ sector. We employ a unitarized amplitude with an interaction potential fixed by heavy meson chiral perturbation theory. We obtain a mass $M_{D^\ast_{s0}} = 2315^{+12}_{-17}\ ^{+10}_{-5}\ \text{MeV}$, and we also show, by means of the Weinberg compositeness condition, that the $DK$ component in the wave function of this state is $P_{DK} = 70^{+4}_{-6}\ ^{+4}_{-8} \%$, where the first (second) error is statistical (systematic).

Can $X(5568)$ be described as a $B_sπ$, $B\bar{K}$ resonant state?

The D0 Collaboration has recently seen a resonant-like peak in the $B_sπ$ invariant mass spectrum, claimed to be a new state called $X(5568)$. Using a $B_sπ$--$B\bar{K}$ coupled channel analysis, implementing unitarity, and with the interaction derived from Heavy Meson Chiral Perturbation Theory, we are able to reproduce the reported spectrum, with a pole that can be associated to the claimed $X(5568)$ state, and with mass and width in agreement with the ones reported in the experimental analysis. However, if the $T$-matrix regularization is performed by means of a momentum cutoff, the value for the latter needed to reproduce the spectrum is $Λ= 2.80 \pm 0.04\ \text{GeV}$, much larger than a "natural" value $Λ\simeq 1\ \text{GeV}$. In view of this, it is difficult to interpret the nature of this new state. This state would not qualify as a resonance dynamically generated by the unitarity loops. Assuming the observed peak to correspond to a physical state, we make predictions for partners in the $D$, $D^\ast$, and $B^\ast$ sectors. Their observation (or lack thereof) would shed light into this issue.

Remarks on the $P_c$ structures and triangle singularities

It was proposed that the narrow $P_c(4450)$ structure observed by the LHCb Collaboration in the reaction $Λ_b\to J/ψp K$ might be due to a triangle singularity around the $χ_{c1}$--proton threshold at 4.45~GeV. We discuss the occurrence of a similar triangle singularity in the $J/ψp$ invariant mass distribution for the decay $Λ_b\to J/ψp π$, which could explain the bump around 4.45~GeV in the data. More precise measurements of this process would provide valuable information towards an understanding of the $P_c$ structures.

Weak decays of heavy hadrons into dynamically generated resonances

In this review we give a perspective of the theoretical work done recently on the interpretation of results from $B$, $D$, $Λ_b$, $Λ_c$ weak decays into final states that contain interacting hadrons, and how it is possible to obtain additional valuable information that is increasing our understanding of hadron interactions and the nature of many hadronic resonances. The novelty of these processes is that one begins with a clean picture at the quark level which allows one to select the basic mechanisms by means of which the process proceeds. Finally, one has a final state described in terms of quarks. To make contact with the experiments, where mesons and baryons are observed, one must hadronize, creating pairs of $q \bar q$ and writing the new states in terms of mesons and baryons. This concludes the primary hadron production in these processes. After that, the interaction of these hadrons takes place, offering a rich spectrum of resonances and special features from where it is possible to learn much about the interaction of these hadrons and the nature of many resonances in terms of the components of their wave functions.

$Z_c(3900)$: what has been really seen?

The $Z^\pm_c(3900)/Z^\pm_c(3885)$ resonant structure has been experimentally observed in the $Y(4260) \to J/ψππ$ and $Y(4260) \to \bar{D}^\ast D π$ decays. This structure is intriguing since it is a prominent candidate of an exotic hadron. Yet, its nature is unclear so far. In this work, we simultaneously describe the $\bar{D}^\ast D$ and $J/ψπ$ invariant mass distributions in which the $Z_c$ peak is seen using amplitudes with exact unitarity. Two different scenarios are statistically acceptable, where the origin of the $Z_c$ state is different. They correspond to using energy dependent or independent $\bar D^* D$ $S$-wave interaction. In the first one, the $Z_c$ peak is due to a resonance with a mass around the $D\bar D^*$ threshold. In the second one, the $Z_c$ peak is produced by a virtual state which must have a hadronic molecular nature. In both cases the two observations, $Z^\pm_c(3900)$ and $Z^\pm_c(3885)$, are shown to have the same common origin, and a $\bar D^* D$ bound state solution is not allowed. Precise measurements of the line shapes around the $D\bar D^*$ threshold are called for in order to understand the nature of this state.

Resonances in QCD

We report on the EMMI Rapid Reaction Task Force meeting 'Resonances in QCD', which took place at GSI October 12-14, 2015. A group of 26 people met to discuss the physics of resonances in QCD. The aim of the meeting was defined by the following three key questions: What is needed to understand the physics of resonances in QCD? Where does QCD lead us to expect resonances with exotic quantum numbers? What experimental efforts are required to arrive at a coherent picture? For light mesons and baryons only those with ${\it up}$, ${\it down}$ and ${\it strange}$ quark content were considered. For heavy-light and heavy-heavy meson systems, those with ${\it charm}$ quarks were the focus. This document summarizes the discussions by the participants, which in turn led to the coherent conclusions we present here.

Detecting the long-distance structure of the X(3872)

We study the X(3872)-->D^0 \bar D^0 π^0 decay within a D \bar D^* molecular picture for the X(3872) state. This decay mode is more sensitive to the long-distance structure of the X(3872) resonance than its J/ψππand J/\psi3πdecays, which are mainly controlled by the details of the X(3872) wave function at short distances. We show that the D^0 \bar D^0 final state interaction can be important, and that a precise measurement of this partial decay width can provide valuable information on the interaction strength between the D^{(*)} \bar D^{(*)} charm mesons.

Dynamically-generated baryon resonances with heavy flavor

We study baryon resonances with heavy flavor in a molecular approach, thus as dynamically generated by meson-baryon scattering. This is accomplished by using a unitary coupled-channel model taking, as bare interaction, the extension to four flavors and spin symmetry of the Weinberg-Tomozawa interaction potential. A special attention is paid to the inclusion of heavy-quark spin symmetry and to the studies of the generated baryon resonances which complete the heavy-quark spin multiplets. We reproduce few charmed and strange baryon resonances found experimentally, that is, Λ_c(2595), Λ_c(2625), Ξ_c(2790), Ξ_c(2815), and make predictions for more states. The bottom-flavored Λ_b(5912) and Λ_b(5920) states, found by the LHCb collaboration, are also obtained by our model, thus these resonances can be interpreted as molecular states. We also study Ξ_b resonances, which belong to the same SU(3) x HQSS multiplets as the observed Λ_b particles. Finally we analyze hidden-charm baryon resonances. In this sector, we predict seven N-like and five Δ-like states with masses around 4 GeV, most of them as bound states, and compare them with predictions from other models. The predicted states can be searched for in future experiments that involve studies of heavy-flavor physics, e.g. PANDA/FAIR, where charm physics will be analyzed.

Regge signatures from forward CLAS $Λ(1520)$ photoproduction data

The $γp \to K^+ Λ(1520)$ reaction mechanism is investigated within a Regge--effective Lagrangian hybrid approach based on our previous study of this reaction [Physical Review C89, 015203 (2014)]. Near threshold and for large $K^+$ angles, both the CLAS and LEPS data can be successfully described by considering the contributions from the contact, $t$-channel $\bar K$ exchange, $u$-channel $Λ(1115)$ hyperon pole, and the $s$-channel nucleon pole and $N^*(2120)$ resonance contributions. However, for higher energies and forward $K^+$ angles, systematic discrepancies with data appear, which hint the possible existence of sizable quark-gluon string mechanism effects. We show how the inclusion of a $\bar K$ Regge--trajectory exchange in the $t$-channel leads to an efficient description of the $Λ(1520)$ photoproduction channel over the whole energy and angular ranges accessible in the CLAS experiment.

Consequences of Heavy Quark Symmetries for Hadronic Molecules

Among the newly observed structures in the heavy quarkonium mass region, some are proposed to be hadronic molecules. We investigate the consequences of heavy quark flavor symmetry on these heavy meson hadronic molecules. The symmetry allows us to predict new hadronic molecules on one hand, and test the hadronic molecular assumption of the observed structures on the other hand. We explore the consequences of the flavor symmetry assuming the X(3872) and $Z_b(10610)$ as a isoscalar $D\bar D^*$ and isovector $B\bar B^*$ hadronic molecule, respectively. A series of hadronic molecules composed of heavy mesons are predicted. In particular, there is an isoscalar $1^{++}$ $B\bar B^*$ bound state with a mass of 10580 MeV which may be searched for in the $Υ(1S,2S)π^+π^-π^0$ mass distribution; the isovector charmonium partners of the $Z_b(10610)$ and the $Z_b(10650)$ are also predicted, one of which probably corresponds to the very recently observed $Z_c(3900)$ and $Z_c(4025)$ resonances by the BESIII Collaboration.

Heavy Antiquark--Diquark Symmetry and Heavy Hadron Molecules: Are There Triply Heavy Pentaquarks?

We explore the consequences of heavy flavour, heavy quark spin and heavy antiquark-diquark symmetries for hadronic molecules within an effective field theory framework.. Owing to heavy antiquark-diquark symmetry, the doubly heavy baryons have approximately the same light-quark structure as the heavy antimesons. As a consequence, the existence of a heavy meson-antimeson molecule implies the possibility of a partner composed of a heavy meson and a doubly-heavy baryon. In this regard, the D\bar D* molecular nature of the X(3872) will hint at the existence of several baryonic partners with isospin I=0 and J^P = 5/2^- or 3/2^-. Moreover, if the Zb(10650) turns out to be a B*\bar B* bound state, we can be confident of the existence of \Xibb* \bar B* hadronic molecules with quantum numbers I(J^P) = 1(1/2^-) and I(J^P) = 1(3/2^-). These states are of special interest since they can be considered to be triply-heavy pentaquarks.

Heavy Quark Symmetries: Molecular Partners of the X(3872) and $Z_{b}(10610)/Z_{b}'(10650)$

In this work, we have used an Effective Field Theory (EFT) framework based on Heavy Quark Spin (HQSS), Heavy Flavour (HFS) and Heavy Antiquark-Diquark symmetries (HADS). Using a standard lagrangian for the heavy meson-heavy antimeson system, we fit the counter-terms of the model to predict some promising experimental data that can be interpreted as heavy meson-heavy antimeson molecules, that is, the X(3872) and the $Z_{b}(10610)/Z'_{b}(10650)$. Next, and, taking advantage of HADS, we use the same lagrangian to explore the consequences for heavy meson-doubly heavy baryon molecules, which can also be interpreted as triply heavy pentaquarks.

Heavy-quark spin symmetry for charmed and strange baryon resonances

We study charmed and strange baryon resonances that are generated dynamically by a unitary baryon-meson coupled-channels model which incorporates heavy-quark spin symmetry. This is accomplished by extending the SU(3) Weinberg-Tomozawa chiral Lagrangian to SU(8) spin-flavor symmetry plus a suitable symmetry breaking. The model generates resonances with negative parity from the s-wave interaction of pseudoscalar and vector mesons with 1/2+ and 3/2+ baryons in all the isospin, spin, and strange sectors with one, two, and three charm units. Some of our results can be identified with experimental data from several facilities, such as the CLEO, Belle, or BaBar Collaborations, as well as with other theoretical models, whereas others do not have a straightforward identification and require the compilation of more data and also a refinement of the model.

Hidden charm molecules in finite volume

In the present paper we address the interaction of pairs of charmed mesons with hidden charm in a finite box. We use the interaction from a recent model based on heavy quark spin symmetry that predicts molecules of hidden charm in the infinite volume. The energy levels in the box are generated within this model, and from them some synthetic data are generated. These data are then employed to study the inverse problem of getting the energies of the bound states and phase shifts for $D \bar D$ or $D^* {\bar D}^*$. Different strategies are investigated using the lowest two levels for different values of the box size, carrying a study of the errors produced. Starting from the upper level, fits to the synthetic data are carried out to determine the scattering length and effective range plus the binding energy of the ground state. A similar strategy using the effective range formula is considered with a simultaneous fit to the two levels, one above and the other one below threshold. This method turns out to be more efficient than the other one. Finally, a method based on the fit to the data by means of a potential and a loop function conveniently regularized, turns out to be very efficient and allows to produce accurate results in the infinite volume starting from levels of the box with errors far larger than the uncertainties obtained in the final results. A regularization method based on Gaussian wave functions turns out to be rather efficient in the analysis and as a byproduct a practical and fast method to calculate the Lüscher function with high precision is presented.

N and $Δ$ hidden-charm resonances with heavy-quark spin symmetry

We study N and $Δ$ hidden-charm baryon resonances that are generated dynamically from the s-wave interaction of pseudoscalar and vector mesons with $1/2^+$ and $3/2^+$ baryons. We use a unitary coupled-channels model that fulfills heavy-quark spin symmetry and respects spin-flavor symmetry in the light sector. We predict seven N-like and five $Δ$-like states with masses around 4 GeV, most of them as bound states. Some of these states form heavy-quark spin multiplets, which are almost degenerate in mass.

|Vub| from Exclusive Semileptonic B--> rho Decays

We use Omnes representations of the form factors V, A_1 and A_2 for exclusive semileptonic B--> rho decays, and apply them to combine experimental partial branching fraction information with theoretical calculations of the three form factors to extract |Vub|. We find a slightly lower result, |Vub|=(2.8 +- 0.2)x 10^{-3}, than the values extracted from exclusive semileptonic B-->pi decays and using all other inputs in CKM fits. The disagreement is greater when we compare to the result extracted from inclusive B -> X_u l nu decays.

Semileptonic bc to cc Baryon Decay and Heavy Quark Spin Symmetry

We study the semileptonic decays of the lowest-lying bc baryons to the lowest-lying cc baryons (Xi_{bc}^{(\prime*)}--> Xi_{cc}^{(*)} and Omega_{bc}^{(\prime*)}--> Omega_{cc}^{(*)}), in the limit m_b, m_c >> Lambda_{QCD} and close to the zero recoil point. The separate heavy quark spin symmetries make it possible to describe all these decays using a single form factor. We recover results derived previously by White and Savage in a manner which we think is more straightforward and parallels the method applied later to study Bc semileptonic decays. We further discuss the resemblance between the bc baryon decays and those of Bc mesons to eta_c and J/ψmesons and comment on the relation between the slopes of the single functions describing each set of decays. Our results can straightforwardly be applied to the decays of bb baryons to bc baryons.

Lattice-Constrained Parametrizations of Form Factors for Semileptonic and Rare Radiative B Decays

We describe the form factors for B to rho lepton neutrino and B to K* gamma decays with just two parameters and the two form factors for B to pi lepton neutrino with a further two or three parameters. The parametrizations are consistent with heavy quark symmetry, kinematic constraints and lattice results, which we use to determine the parameters. In addition, we test versions of the parametrizations consistent (or not) with light-cone sum rule scaling relations at q^2=0.
