Reflections of convex bodies and their sections

The purpose of this paper is to study the reflections of a convex body. In particular, we are interested in orthogonal reflections of its sections that can be extended to reflections of the whole body. For this reason, we need to study the case of a non-spherical ellipsoid, where a surprising structure arises (Section 2). These results allow us to give a new characterization of ellipsoids in terms of their reflections and, on the other hand, to prove a result deeply related to a conjecture due to K. Bezdek.

The number of dominating $k$-sets of paths, cycles and wheels

We give a shorter proof of the recurrence relation for the domination polynomial $γ(P_{n},t)$ and for the number $γ_{k}(P_{n})$ of dominating $k$-sets of the path with $n$ vertices. For every positive integers $n$ and $k,$ numbers $γ_{k}(P_{n})$ are determined solving a problem posed by S. Alikhani in CID 2015. Moreover, the numbers of dominating $k$-sets $γ_{k}(C_{n})$ of cycles and $γ_{k}(W_{n})$ of wheels with $n$ vertices are computed.

Null and non--rainbow colorings of projective plane and sphere triangulations

For maximal planar graphs of order $n\geq 4$, we prove that a vertex--coloring containing no rainbow faces uses at most $\lfloor\frac{2n-1}{3}\rfloor$ colors, and this is best possible. For maximal graph embedded on the projective plane, we obtain the analogous best bound $\lfloor\frac{2n+1}{3}\rfloor$. The main ingredients in the proofs are classical homological tools. By considering graphs as topological spaces, we introduce the notion of a null coloring, and prove that for any graph $G$ a maximal null coloring $f$ is such that the quotient graph $G/f$ is a forest.
