A spectral product formula for repunits via a tridiagonal Toeplitz similarity

For $b>0$ and $n\geqslant 1$, we consider the $n\times n$ tridiagonal matrix $V_n(b)$ with diagonal entries $b+1$, superdiagonal entries $1$, and subdiagonal entries $b$. A diagonal similarity reduces $V_n(b)$ to a symmetric tridiagonal Toeplitz matrix and hence makes its spectrum explicit. Since $\det\left(V_n(b)\right)$ equals the geometric sum $1+b+\cdots+b^{n}$, taking determinants yields a finite cosine product evaluation for this quantity. As further consequences, we derive sharp bounds from the extremal eigenvalues, write down explicit eigenvectors with respect to a natural weighted inner product, and obtain a closed formula for $V_n(b)^{-1}$.

Effective Erdős--Wintner for Cantor numeration systems via a trailing-window method

We prove explicit Erdős--Wintner bounds for Cantor numeration systems via a simple trailing-window decomposition. We temporarily discard the last block of digits (the ``window'') and analyze the remaining prefix. The resulting bound has three contributions: (i) a bridge loss from discarding the window; (ii) a variance-type tail for the prefix; and (iii) a regime-dependent smoothing term (Esseen, bounded density, or cancellation of the third cumulant). Optimizing the window length yields rates that are explicit in the sample size. In the fixed-base (q-adic) case we recover Delange's product and obtain effective convergence bounds; the same scheme applies unchanged to Cantor numeration systems. We also include a brief guide indicating when each regime is preferable.

Effective Erdős-Wintner theorems for digital expansions

In 1972 Delange observed in analogy of the classical Erd\H os-Wintner theorem that $q$-additive functions $f(n)$ has a distribution function if and only if the two series $\sum f(d q^j)$, $\sum f(d q^j)^2$ converge. The purpose of this paper is to provide quantitative versions of this theorem as well as generalizations to other kinds of digital expansions. In addition to the $q$-ary and Cantor case we focus on the Zeckendorf expansion that is based on the Fibonacci sequence, where we provide a sufficient and necessary condition for the existence of a distribution function, namely that the two series $\sum f(F_j)$, $\sum f(F_j)^2$ converge (previously only a sufficient condition was known).
