Three decades of FCNC studies in 3-3-1 model with right-handed neutrinos: from $Z^\prime$-dominance to the alignment limit

Flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) processes play a prominent role in the search for physics beyond the Standard Model (SM) due to their sensitivity to new physics at the TeV scale. Meson-antimeson transitions and rare meson decays provide stringent constraints on new physics through precision measurements of observables such as mass differences, CP asymmetries, and branching ratios. Extensions of the SM based on the $\text{SU}(3)_C \times \text{SU}(3)_L \times \text{U}(1)_N$ gauge group offer a compelling framework for flavor physics, as FCNC processes emerge inexorably at tree level due to the non-universal transformations of the quark families. Among its various realizations, the version incorporating right-handed neutrinos (331RHN) is the most phenomenologically viable. This review synthesizes three decades of theoretical developments in FCNC phenomenology within the 331RHN model, from early $Z^\prime$-dominated studies to the recent recognition of the decisive role played by the SM-like Higgs boson and the identification of the alignment limit. We demonstrate that viable parameter space spans orders of magnitude, from $m_{Z^\prime} \sim$ a few hundred GeV to $\sim 100$ TeV, depending critically on quark mixing parametrizations and scalar alignment configurations, with significant implications for experimental searches at current and future colliders.

Vacuum stability and spontaneous violation of the lepton number at low energy scale in a model for light sterile neutrinos

It is well known that the Standard Model of the Electroweak interactions rests on a metastable vacuum. This can only be fixed by means of new physics. Presently neutrino physics provides the most intriguing framework to formulate new physics. This is so because, in addition to the problem of the lightness of the active standard neutrinos, currently MiniBooNE experimental result may be indicating that sterile neutrinos exist and are light, too. In this case, it is reasonable to expect that the framework that yields light active and sterile neutrinos could stabilize the vacuum, too. In order to achieve this goal, we consider an extension of the standard model which involves new fermions in the form of right-handed neutrinos ($ν_R$) and new scalars in the form of triplet ($Δ$) and singlet ($σ$). Within this framework, tiny masses are obtained when we consider that lepton number is spontaneously broken at low energy scale which means that $Δ$ and $σ$, both, develop very small vacuum expectation values. We investigate if this setting leads to a stable vacuum. For this we obtain the whole set of conditions over the Quartic Terms of the Potential that ensures that the model is Bounded From Below(BFB) and evaluate the RGE-evolution of the self coupling of the Higgs. We show that in such a scenario the Quartic Coupling $Φ^T ΔΦσ$, where $Φ$ is the standard Higgs doublet, is responsible for the stability of the Electroweak Vacuum up to Planck scale. We also extract constraints over the parameters of the Potential by means of Lepton Flavor Violating(LFV) processes and from invisible decay of the standard-like Higgs.
