Language Model Agents Under Attack: A Cross Model-Benchmark of Profit-Seeking Behaviors in Customer Service

Customer-service LLM agents increasingly make policy-bound decisions (refunds, rebooking, billing disputes), but the same ``helpful'' interaction style can be exploited: a small fraction of users can induce unauthorized concessions, shifting costs to others and eroding trust in agentic workflows. We present a cross-domain benchmark of profit-seeking direct prompt injection in customer-service interactions, spanning 10 service domains and 100 realistic attack scripts grouped into five technique families. Across five widely used models under a unified rubric with uncertainty reporting, attacks are highly domain-dependent (airline support is most exploitable) and technique-dependent (payload splitting is most consistently effective). We release data and evaluation code to support reproducible auditing and to inform the design of oversight and recovery workflows for trustworthy, human centered agent interfaces.

The effect of Coulomb field on laser-induced ultrafast imaging methods

By performing a joint theoretical and experimental investigation on the high-order above-threshold ionization (HATI) spectrum, the dominant role of the 3rd-return-recollision trajectories in the region near the cutoff due to the ionic Coulomb field is identified. This invalidates the key assumption adopted in the conventional laser-induced electron diffraction (LIED) approach that the 1st-returnrecollision trajectories dominate the spectrum according to strong field approximation (SFA). Our results show that the incident (return) electron beams produced by the 1st and 3rd returns possess distinct characteristics of beam energy, beam diameter and temporal evolution law due to the influence of Coulomb field, and therefore the extracted results in the LIED will be altered if the significance of the 3rd-return-recollision trajectories is properly considered in the analysis. Such Coulomb field effect should be taken into account in all kinds of laser-induced imaging schemes based on recollision.

mRNA-miRNA Reciprocal Regulation Enabled Bistable Switch Directs Cell Fate Decision

miRNAs serve as crucial post-transcriptional regulators in various essential cell fate decision. However, the contribution of the mRNA-miRNA mutual regulation to bistability is not fully understood. Here, we built a set of mathematical models of mRNA-miRNA interactions and systematically analyzed the sensitivity of response curves under various conditions. First, we found that mRNA-miRNA reciprocal regulation could manifest ultrasensitivity to subserve the generation of bistability when equipped with a positive feedback loop. Second, the region of bistability is expanded by a stronger competing mRNA (ceRNA). Interesting, bistability can be emerged without feedback loop if multiple miRNA binding sites exist on a target mRNA. Thus, we demonstrated the importance of simple mRNA-miRNA reciprocal regulation in cell fate decision.
