Achieving Gold-Medal-Level Olympiad Reasoning via Simple and Unified Scaling

Recent progress in reasoning models has substantially advanced long-horizon mathematical and scientific problem solving, with several systems now reaching gold-medal-level performance on International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) and International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) problems. In this paper, we introduce a simple and unified recipe for converting a post-trained reasoning backbone into a rigorous olympiad-level solver. The recipe first uses a reverse-perplexity curriculum for SFT to instill rigorous proof-search and self-checking behaviors, then scales these behaviors through a two-stage RL pipeline that progresses from RL with verifiable rewards to more delicate proof-level RL, and finally boosts solving performance with test-time scaling. Applying this recipe, we train a 30B-A3B backbone with SFT on around 340K sub-8K-token trajectories followed by 200 RL steps. The resulting model, SU-01, supports stable reasoning on difficult problems with trajectories exceeding 100K tokens, while achieving gold-medal-level performance on mathematical and physical olympiad competitions, including IMO 2025/USAMO 2026 and IPhO 2024/2025. It also demonstrates strong generalization of scientific reasoning to domains beyond mathematics and physics.

An evaluation of LLMs for political bias in Western media: Israel-Hamas and Ukraine-Russia wars

Political bias in media plays a critical role in shaping public opinion, voter behaviour, and broader democratic discourse. Subjective opinions and political bias can be found in media sources, such as newspapers, depending on their funding mechanisms and alliances with political parties. Automating the detection of political biases in media content can limit biases in elections. The impact of large language models (LLMs) in politics and media studies is becoming prominent. In this study, we utilise LLMs to compare the left-wing, right-wing, and neutral political opinions expressed in the Guardian and BBC. We review newspaper reporting that includes significant events such as the Russia-Ukraine war and the Hamas-Israel conflict. We analyse the proportion for each opinion to find the bias under different LLMs, including BERT, Gemini, and DeepSeek. Our results show that after the outbreak of the wars, the political bias of Western media shifts towards the left-wing and each LLM gives a different result. DeepSeek consistently showed a stable Left-leaning tendency, while BERT and Gemini remained closer to the Centre. The BBC and The Guardian showed distinct reporting behaviours across the two conflicts. In the Russia-Ukraine war, both outlets maintained relatively stable positions; however, in the Israel-Hamas conflict, we identified larger political bias shifts, particularly in Guardian coverage, suggesting a more event-driven pattern of reporting bias. These variations suggest that LLMs are shaped not only by their training data and architecture, but also by underlying worldviews with associated political biases.

Delta-Adapter: Scalable Exemplar-Based Image Editing with Single-Pair Supervision

Exemplar-based image editing applies a transformation defined by a source-target image pair to a new query image. Existing methods rely on a pair-of-pairs supervision paradigm, requiring two image pairs sharing the same edit semantics to learn the target transformation. This constraint makes training data difficult to curate at scale and limits generalization across diverse edit types. We propose Delta-Adapter, a method that learns transferable editing semantics under single-pair supervision, requiring no textual guidance. Rather than directly exposing the exemplar pair to the model, we leverage a pre-trained vision encoder to extract a semantic delta that encodes the visual transformation between the two images. This semantic delta is injected into a pre-trained image editing model via a Perceiver-based adapter. Since the target image is never directly visible to the model, it can serve as the prediction target, enabling single-pair supervision without requiring additional exemplar pairs. This formulation allows us to leverage existing large-scale editing datasets for training. To further promote faithful transformation transfer, we introduce a semantic delta consistency loss that aligns the semantic change of the generated output with the ground-truth semantic delta extracted from the exemplar pair. Extensive experiments demonstrate that Delta-Adapter consistently improves both editing accuracy and content consistency over four strong baselines on seen editing tasks, while also generalizing more effectively to unseen editing tasks. APANet: Adaptive Prototypes Alignment Network for Few-Shot Semantic Segmentation

Few-shot semantic segmentation aims to segment novel-class objects in a given query image with only a few labeled support images. Most advanced solutions exploit a metric learning framework that performs segmentation through matching each query feature to a learned class-specific prototype. However, this framework suffers from biased classification due to incomplete feature comparisons. To address this issue, we present an adaptive prototype representation by introducing class-specific and class-agnostic prototypes and thus construct complete sample pairs for learning semantic alignment with query features. The complementary features learning manner effectively enriches feature comparison and helps yield an unbiased segmentation model in the few-shot setting. It is implemented with a two-branch end-to-end network (i.e., a class-specific branch and a class-agnostic branch), which generates prototypes and then combines query features to perform comparisons. In addition, the proposed class-agnostic branch is simple yet effective. In practice, it can adaptively generate multiple class-agnostic prototypes for query images and learn feature alignment in a self-contrastive manner. Extensive experiments on PASCAL-5$^i$ and COCO-20$^i$ demonstrate the superiority of our method. At no expense of inference efficiency, our model achieves state-of-the-art results in both 1-shot and 5-shot settings for semantic segmentation.

HEAT: Holistic Edge Attention Transformer for Structured Reconstruction

This paper presents a novel attention-based neural network for structured reconstruction, which takes a 2D raster image as an input and reconstructs a planar graph depicting an underlying geometric structure. The approach detects corners and classifies edge candidates between corners in an end-to-end manner. Our contribution is a holistic edge classification architecture, which 1) initializes the feature of an edge candidate by a trigonometric positional encoding of its end-points; 2) fuses image feature to each edge candidate by deformable attention; 3) employs two weight-sharing Transformer decoders to learn holistic structural patterns over the graph edge candidates; and 4) is trained with a masked learning strategy. The corner detector is a variant of the edge classification architecture, adapted to operate on pixels as corner candidates. We conduct experiments on two structured reconstruction tasks: outdoor building architecture and indoor floorplan planar graph reconstruction. Extensive qualitative and quantitative evaluations demonstrate the superiority of our approach over the state of the art. BabyWalk: Going Farther in Vision-and-Language Navigation by Taking Baby Steps

Learning to follow instructions is of fundamental importance to autonomous agents for vision-and-language navigation (VLN). In this paper, we study how an agent can navigate long paths when learning from a corpus that consists of shorter ones. We show that existing state-of-the-art agents do not generalize well. To this end, we propose BabyWalk, a new VLN agent that is learned to navigate by decomposing long instructions into shorter ones (BabySteps) and completing them sequentially. A special design memory buffer is used by the agent to turn its past experiences into contexts for future steps. The learning process is composed of two phases. In the first phase, the agent uses imitation learning from demonstration to accomplish BabySteps. In the second phase, the agent uses curriculum-based reinforcement learning to maximize rewards on navigation tasks with increasingly longer instructions. We create two new benchmark datasets (of long navigation tasks) and use them in conjunction with existing ones to examine BabyWalk's generalization ability. Empirical results show that BabyWalk achieves state-of-the-art results on several metrics, in particular, is able to follow long instructions better.
