Nambu--Jona-Lasinio Model Revisited with a Simple Regularization-Renormalization Method

According to the pioneering model proposed by Nambu and Jona-Lasinio (NJL) \cite{2,3}, a massless fermion acquires its mass via a vacuum phase transition (VPT) process. Our discussion is considerably simplified because an effective Hamiltonian for VPT is proposed and a simple regularization-renormalization method (RRM) is adopted. An unambiguous constraint is found as $\frac{π^2}{GΔ^2_1}=\frac{2}{3}$, where $G$ is the coupling constant first introduced in the NJL model while $Δ_1$ the mass of fermion ($f$) created after the VPT. The masses of bosons with spin-parity $J^P=0^+, 0^-,1^+$ and $1^-$ as collective modes composed of fermion-antifermion pairs ($f\bar{f}$s) are also calculated by the method of random phase approximation (RPA).

A simple strategy for renormalization: QED at one-loop level

We demonstrate our simple strategy for renormalization with QED at one-loop level, basing on an elaboration of the effective field theory philosophy. No artificial regularization or deformation of the original theory is introduced here and hence no manipulation of infinities, ambiguities arise instead of infinities. Ward identities first come to reduce the number of ambiguities, the residual ones could in principle be removed by imposing physical boundary conditions. Renormalization group equations arise as "decoupling theorems" in the underlying theory perspective. In addition, a technical theorem concerning routing of external momenta is also presented and illustrated with the self-energy and vertex function as examples.

Contributions of gluon recombination to saturation phenomena

Parton distributions in the small $x$ region are numerically predicted by using a modified DGLAP equation with the GRV-like input distributions. We find that gluon recombination at twist-4 level obviously suppresses the rapid growth of parton densities with $x$ decrease. We show that before the saturation scale $Q^2_s$ is reached, saturation and partial saturation appear in the small $x$ behavior of parton distributions in nucleus and free proton, respectively. The antishadowing contributions to the saturation phenomena are also discussed.

Dynamical symmetry breaking of $λϕ^4$ in two loop effective potential

The two loop effective potential of massless $λϕ^4$ theory was presented in several regularization and renormalization prescriptions and the dynamical symmetry breaking solution was obtained in strong coupling situation in several prescriptions except the Coleman-Weinberg prescription. The beta function in the broken phase becomes negative and the UV fixed point turns out to be a strong coupling one, and its numeric value varies with renormalization prescriptions, a detail in difference from the asymptotic free solution in one loop case. The symmetry breaking phase was shown to be an entirely strong coupling phase. The reason of the relevance of the renormalization prescriptions was shown to be due to the non-perturbative nature of the effective potential. We also reanalyzed the two loop effective potential by adopting a differential equation approach basing on the understanding that takes all the QFT's as the ill-defined formulations of the 'low energy' effective theories of a complete underlying theory. Then the relevance of the prescriptions of fixing the local ambiguities to physical properties like symmetry breaking was further emphasized. We also tentatively proposed a rescaling insensitivity argument for fixing the quadratic ambiguities. Some detailed properties of the strongly coupled broken phase and related issues were discussed.
