Scale Invariance of the Homentropic Inviscid Euler Equations with Application to the Noh Problem

We investigate the inviscid compressible flow (Euler) equations constrained by an "isentropic" equation of state (EOS), whose functional form in pressure is an arbitrary function of density alone. Under the aforementioned condition, we interrogate using symmetry methods the scale-invariance of the homentropic inviscid Euler equations. We find that under general conditions, we can reduce the inviscid Euler equations into a system of two coupled ordinary differential equations. To exemplify the utility of these results, we formulate two example scale-invariant, self-similar solutions. The first example includes a shock-free expanding bubble scenario, featuring a modified Tait EOS. The second example features the classical Noh problem, coupled to an arbitrary isentropic EOS. In this case, in order to satisfy the conditions set forth in the classical Noh problem, we find that the solution for the flow is given by a transcendental algebraic equation in the shocked density.

Spectrum of the Hidden-Bottom and the Hidden-Charm/Strange Exotics in the Dynamical Diquark Model

The lightest hidden-bottom tetraquarks in the dynamical diquark model fill an $S$-wave multiplet consisting of 12 isomultiplets. We predict their masses and dominant bottomonium decay channels using a simple 3-parameter Hamiltonian that captures the core fine-structure features of the model, including isospin dependence. The only experimental inputs needed are the corresponding observables for $Z_b(10610)$ and $Z_b(10650)$. The mass of $X_b$, the bottom analogue to $X(3872)$, is highly constrained in this scheme. In addition, using lattice-calculated potentials we predict the location of the center of mass of the $P$-wave multiplet and find that $Y(10860)$ fits well but the newly discovered $Y(10750)$ does not, more plausibly being a $D$-wave bottomonium state. Using similar methods, we also examine the lowest $S$-wave multiplet of 6 $c\bar c s\bar s$ states, assuming as in earlier work that $X(3915)$ and $Y(4140)$ are members, and predict the masses and dominant charmonium decay modes of the other states. We again use lattice potentials to compute the centers of mass of higher multiplets, and find them to be compatible with the masses of $Y(4626)$ ($1P$) and $X(4700)$ ($2S$), respectively.

The Dynamical Diquark Model: Fine Structure and Isospin

We incorporate fine-structure corrections into the dynamical diquark model of multiquark exotic hadrons. These improvements include effects due to finite diquark size, spin-spin couplings within the diquarks, and most significantly, isospin-dependent couplings in the form of pionlike exchanges assumed to occur between the light quarks within the diquarks. Using a simplified two-parameter interaction Hamiltonian, we obtain fits in which the isoscalar $J^{PC} = 1^{++}$ state---identified as the $X(3872)$---appears naturally as the lightest exotic (including all states that are predicted by the model but have not yet been observed), while the $Z_c(3900)$ and $Z_c(4020)$ decay predominantly to $J/ψ$ and $η_c$, respectively, in accord with experiment. We explore implications of this model for the excited tetraquark multiplets and the pentaquarks.

The Spectrum of $P$-Wave Hidden-Charm Exotic Mesons in the Diquark Model

We study the fine structure in the spectrum of known and predicted negative-parity hidden-charm exotic meson states, which comprise the lowest $P$-wave multiplet in the dynamical diquark model. Starting with a form previously shown to successfully describe the $S$-wave states, we develop a 5-parameter Hamiltonian that includes spin-orbit and tensor terms. After discussing the experimental status of the observed $J^{PC} = 1^{--}$ states $Y$ with respect to masses and decay modes (classified by eigenvalues of heavy-quark spin), we note a number of inconsistencies between measurements from different experiments that complicate a unique determination of the spectrum. Outlining a variety of scenarios for interpreting the $Y$ data, we perform fits to each one, obtaining results that demonstrate differing possibilities for the $P$-wave spectra. Choosing one of these fits for illustration, we predict masses for all 28 isomultiplets in this $1P$ multiplet, compare the results to tantalizing hints in the data, and discuss the rich discovery potential for new states.
