Curvature identities for Einstein manifolds of dimension 5 and 6

Patterson discussed the curvature identities on Riemannian manifolds in [14], and a curvature identity for any 6-dimensional Riemannian manifold was independently derived from the Chern-Gauss-Bonnet Theorem [8]. In this paper, we provide the explicit formulae of Patterson's curvature identity that holds on 5-dimensional and 6-dimensional Einstein manifolds. We confirm that the curvature identities on the Einstein manifold from the previous work [8] are the same as the curvature identities deduced from Patterson's result. We also provide examples that support the theorems.

Two theorems on the intersections of horospheres in asymptotically harmonic spaces

We use Busemann functions to construct volume preserving mappings in an asymptotically harmonic manifold. If the asymptotically harmonic manifold satisfies the visibility condition, we construct mappings which preserve distances in some directions. We also prove that some integrals on the intersection of horospheres are independent of the differences between the values of the corresponding Busemann functions and we establish an upper bound of the volume of the intersection of two horospheres which is independent of the difference between values of corresponding Busemann functions.

Moduli spaces of oriented Type A manifolds of dimension at least 3

We examine the moduli space of oriented locally homogeneous manifolds of Type A which have non-degenerate symmetric Ricci tensor both in the setting of manifolds with torsion and also in the torsion free setting where the dimension is at least 3. These exhibit phenomena that is very different than in the case of surfaces. In dimension 3, we determine all the possible symmetry groups in the torsion free setting.

Euler-Lagrange formulas for pseudo-Kaehler manifolds

Let $c$ be a characteristic form of degree $k$ which is defined on a Kaehler manifold of real dimension $m>2k$. Taking the inner product with the Kaehler form $Ω^k$ gives a scalar invariant which can be considered as a generalized Lovelock functional. The associated Euler-Lagrange equations are a generalized Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity theory; this theory restricts to the canonical formalism if $c=c_2$ is the second Chern form. We extend previous work studying these equations from the Kaehler to the pseudo-Kaehler setting.

Universal curvature identities II

We show that any universal curvature identity which holds in the Riemannian setting extends naturally to the pseudo-Riemannian setting. Thus the Euh-Park-Sekigawa identity also holds for pseudo-Riemannian manifolds. We study the Euler-Lagrange equations associated to the Chern-Gauss-Bonnet formula and show that as in the Riemannian setting, they are given solely in terms of curvature (and not in terms of covariant derivatives of curvature) even in the pseudo-Riemannian setting.
