Twists of graded Poisson algebras and related properties

We introduce a Poisson version of the graded twist of a graded associative algebra and prove that every graded Poisson structure on a connected graded polynomial ring $A:=\Bbbk[x_1,\ldots,x_n]$ is a graded twist of a unimodular Poisson structure on $A$, namely, if $π$ is a graded Poisson structure on $A$, then $π$ has a decomposition $$π=π_{unim} +\frac{1}{\sum_{i=1}^n {\rm deg} x_i} E\wedge {\mathbf m}$$ where $E$ is the Euler derivation, $π_{unim}$ is the unimodular graded Poisson structure on $A$ corresponding to $π$, and ${\mathbf m}$ is the modular derivation of $(A,π)$. This result is a generalization of the same result in the quadratic setting. The rigidity of graded twisting, $PH^1$-minimality, and $H$-ozoneness are studied. As an application, we compute the Poisson cohomologies of the quadratic Poisson structures on the polynomial ring of three variables when the potential is irreducible, but not necessarily having isolated singularities.

Iterated Hopf Ore extensions in positive characteristic

Iterated Hopf Ore extensions (IHOEs) over an algebraically closed base field k of positive characteristic p are studied. We show that every IHOE over k satisfies a polynomial identity, with PI-degree a power of p, and that it is a filtered deformation of a commutative polynomial ring. We classify all 2-step IHOEs over k, thus generalising the classification of 2-dimensional connected unipotent algebraic groups over k. Further properties of 2-step IHOEs are described: for example their simple modules are classified, and every 2-step IHOE is shown to possess a large Hopf center and hence an analog of the restricted enveloping algebra of a Lie k-algebra. As one of a number of questions listed, we propose that such a restricted Hopf algebra may exist for every IHOE over k.

Rigid Dualizing Complexes on Schemes

In this paper we present a new approach to Grothendieck duality on schemes. Our approach is based on the idea of rigid dualizing complexes, which was introduced by Van den Bergh in the context of noncommutative algebraic geometry. We obtain most of the important features of Grothendieck duality, yet manage to avoid lengthy and difficult compatibility verifications. Our results apply to finite type schemes over a regular noetherian finite dimensional base ring, and hence are suitable for arithmetic geometry.

Connected (graded) Hopf algebras

We study algebraic and homological properties of two classes of infinite dimensional Hopf algebras over an algebraically closed field k of characteristic zero. The first class consists of those Hopf k-algebras that are connected graded as algebras, and the second class are those Hopf k-algebras that are connected as coalgebras. For many but not all of the results presented here, the Hopf algebras are assumed to have finite Gel'fand-Kirillov dimension. It is shown that if the Hopf algebra H is a connected graded algebra of finite Gel'fand-Kirillov dimension n, then H is a noetherian domain which is Cohen-Macaulay, Artin-Schelter regular and Auslander regular of global dimension n. It has S^2 = Id_H, and is Calabi-Yau. Detailed information is also provided about the Hilbert series of H. Our results leave open the possibility that the first class of algebras is (properly) contained in the second. For this second class, the Hopf k-algebras of finite Gel'fand-Kirillov dimension n with connected coalgebra, the underlying coalgebra is shown to be Artin-Schelter regular of global dimension n. Both these classes of Hopf algebra share many features in common with enveloping algebras of finite dimensional Lie algebras. For example, an algebra in either of these classes satisfies a polynomial identity only if it is a commutative polynomial algebra. Nevertheless, we construct, as one of our main results, an example of a Hopf k-algebra H of Gel'fand-Kirillov dimension 5, which is connected graded as an algebra and connected as a coalgebra, but is not isomorphic as an algebra to U(g) for any Lie algebra g.

Invariants of (-1)-Skew Polynomial Rings under Permutation Representations

The symmetric group S_n acts on the skew polynomial ring A=k_{-1}[x_1,..., x_n] as permutations. For subgroups G of S_n we consider properties of the ring of invariants A^G. We show that A^G is always Artin-Schelter Gorenstein, and we investigate when A^G is a "complete intersection", in a sense we define. We obtain bounds on the degrees of the algebra generators. The properties of A^G are compared with those in the classical case, k[x_1, ..., x_n]^G.

Skew Calabi-Yau Algebras and Homological Identities

A skew Calabi-Yau algebra is a generalization of a Calabi-Yau algebra which allows for a non-trivial Nakayama automorphism. We prove three homological identities about the Nakayama automorphism and give several applications. The identities we prove show (i) how the Nakayama automorphism of a smash product algebra A # H is related to the Nakayama automorphisms of a graded skew Calabi-Yau algebra A and a finite-dimensional Hopf algebra H that acts on it; (ii) how the Nakayama automorphism of a graded twist of A is related to the Nakayama automorphism of A; and (iii) that Nakayama automorphism of a skew Calabi-Yau algebra A has trivial homological determinant in case A is noetherian, connected graded, and Koszul.
