On periodic and compactly supported least energy solutions to semilinear elliptic equations with non-Lipschitz nonlinearity

We discuss the existence and non-existence of periodic in one variable and compactly supported in the other variables least energy solutions for equations with non-Lipschitz nonlinearity of the form: $-Δu=λu^p - u^q$ in $\mathbb{R}^{N+1}$, where $ 0< q < p \leq 1$, $λ\in \mathbb{R}$. The approach is based on the Nehari manifold method supplemented by a one-sided constraint given through the functional of the suitable Pohozaev identity. The limit value of the parameter $λ$, where the approach is applicable, corresponds to the existence of periodic in one variable and compactly supported in the other variables least energy solutions. This value is found through the extrem values of nonlinear generalized Rayleigh quotients and the so-called curve of the critical exponents of $p,q$. Important properties of the solutions are derived, such as that they are not trivial with respect to the periodic variable and do not coincide with compactly supported solutions on the entire space $\mathbb{R}^{N+1}$.

A qualitative study of (p,q) Singular parabolic equations: local existence, Sobolev regularity and asymptotic behaviour

The purpose of the article is to study the existence, regularity, stabilization and blow up results of weak solution to the following parabolic $(p,q)$-singular equation: \begin{equation*} (P_t)\; \left\{\begin{array}{rllll} u_t-Δ_{p}u -Δ_{q}u & = \vth \; u^{-\de}+ f(x,u), \; u>0 \text{ in } \Om\times (0,T), \\ u&=0 \quad \text{ on } \pa\Om\times (0,T), u(x,0)&= u_0(x) \; \text{ in }\Om, \end{array} \right. \end{equation*} where $\Om$ is a bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^N$ with $C^2$ boundary $\pa\Om$, $1<q<p< \infty$, $0<\de, T>0$, $N\ge 2$ and $\vth>0$ is a parameter. Moreover, we assume that $f:\Om\times [0,\infty) \to \mb R$ is a bounded below Carathéodory function, locally Lipschitz with respect to the second variable uniformly in $x\in\Om$ and $u_0\in L^\infty(\Om)\cap W^{1,p}_0(\Om)$. We distinguish the cases as $q$-subhomogeneous and $q$-superhomogeneous depending on the growth of $f$ (hereafter we will drop the term $q$). In the subhomogeneous case, we prove the existence and uniqueness of the weak solution to problem $(P_t)$ for $\de<2+1/(p-1)$. For this, we first study the stationary problems corresponding to $(P_t)$ by using the method of sub and super solutions and subsequently employing implicit Euler method, we obtain the existence of a solution to $(P_t)$. Furthermore, in this case, we prove the stabilization result, that is, the solution $u(t)$ of $(P_t)$ converges to $u_\infty$, the unique solution to the stationary problem, in $L^\infty(\Om)$ as $t\ra\infty$. For the superhomogeneous case, we prove the local existence theorem by taking help of nonlinear semigroup theory. Subsequently, we prove finite time blow up of solution to problem $(P_t)$ for small parameter $\vartheta>0$ in the case $\de\leq 1$ and for all $\vth>0$ in the case $\de>1$.

Nondegeneracy of solutions for a critical Hartree equation

The aim of this paper is to prove the nondegeneracy of the unique positive solutions for the following critical Hartree type equations when $μ>0$ is close to $0$, $$ -Δu=\left(I_μ\ast u^{2^{\ast}_μ}\right)u^{{2}^{\ast}_μ-1},~~x\in\mathbb{R}^{N}, $$ where $ I_μ(x)=\frac{Γ(\fracμ{2})}{Γ(\frac{N-μ}{2})π^{\frac{N}{2}}2^{N-μ}|x|^μ} $ is the Riesz potential and $2^{\ast}_μ=\frac{2{N-μ}}{N-2}$ is the upper critical exponent due to the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality.

Singular doubly nonlocal elliptic problems with Choquard type critical growth nonlinearities

The theory of elliptic equations involving singular nonlinearities is well studied topic but the interaction of singular type nonlinearity with nonlocal nonlinearity in elliptic problems has not been investigated so far. In this article, we study the very singular and doubly nonlocal singular problem $(P_λ)$(See below). Firstly, we establish a very weak comparison principle and the optimal Sobolev regularity. Next using the critical point theory of non-smooth analysis and the geometry of the energy functional, we establish the global multiplicity of positive weak solutions.

Critical exponent for half-Laplacian in the whole space

We study the existence of {weak} solutions for fractional elliptic equations of the type, \begin{equation*} (-Δ)^{\frac{1}{2}} u+ V(x) u= h(u), u> 0 \;\textrm{in} \;\mathbb R, \end{equation*} %where $1<q<2,\;p>2,\;1<β\leq2\;, λ>0, K(x)>0, f$ is continuous and sign changing. where $h$ is a real valued function that behaves like $e^{u^2}$ as $u\rightarrow \infty$ and $V(x)$ is a positive, continuous unbounded function. Here $(-Δ)^{\frac{1}{2}}$ is the fractional Laplacian operator. We show the existence of mountain-pass solution when the nonlinearity is superlinear near $t=0$. We also study the corresponding critical exponent problem for the Kirchhoff equation \[ m\left(\int_{\mathbb R}|(-Δ)^{\frac{1}{2}}u|^2 dx+ \int_\mb R u^2 V(x)dx\right)\left((-Δ)^{\frac{1}{2}} u+ V(x) u\right)= f(u)\;\, \text{in}\, \mathbb R \] where $f(u)$ behaves like $e^{u^2}$ as $u\rightarrow \infty$ and $f(u)\sim u^3$ as $u\rightarrow 0$.

Critical growth fractional systems with exponential nonlinearity

We study the existence of positive solutions for the system of fractional elliptic equations of the type, \begin{equation*} \begin{array}{rl} (-Δ)^{\frac{1}{2}} u &=\frac{p}{p+q}λf(x)|u|^{p-2}u|v|^q + h_1(u,v) e^{u^2+v^2},\;\textrm{in}\; (-1, 1),\\ (-Δ)^{\frac{1}{2}} v &=\frac{q}{p+q}λf(x)|u|^p|v|^{q-2}v + h_2(u,v) e^{u^2+v^2},\;\textrm{in}\; (-1, 1), u,v&>0 \;\textrm{in } \; (-1,1), u&=v=0 \; \text{in} \; \mathbb R\setminus (-1,1). \end{array} \end{equation*} where {$1<p+q<2$}, $h_1(u,v)=(α{+}2u^2)|u|^{α-2}u|v|^β, h_2(u,v)=(β{+}2v^2) |u|^α|v|^{β-2}v$ and ${α+β>2}$. Here $(-Δ)^{\frac{1}{2}}$ is the fractional Laplacian operator. We show the existence of multiple solutions for suitable range of $λ$ by analyzing the fibering maps and the corresponding Nehari manifold. We also study the existence of positive solutions for a superlinear system with critical growth exponential nonlinearity.

Existence and regularity of weak solutions for singular elliptic equations

In the present paper we investigate the following semilinear singular elliptic problem: \begin{equation*} (\rm P)\qquad \left \{\begin{array}{l} -Δu = \dfrac{p(x)}{u^α}\quad \text{in} Ω\\ u = 0\ \text{on} Ω,\ u>0 \text{on} Ω, \end{array} \right . \end{equation*} where $Ω$ is a regular bounded domain of $\mathbb R^{N}$, $α\in\mathbb R$, $p\in C(Ω)$ which behaves as $d(x)^{-β}$ as $x\to\partialΩ$ with $d$ the distance function up to the boundary and $0\leq β<2$. We discuss below the existence, the uniqueness and the stability of the weak solution $u$ of the problem (P). We also prove accurate estimates on the gradient of the solution near the boundary $\partial Ω$. Consequently, we can prove that the solution belongs to $W^{1,q§}_0(Ω)$ for $1<q<\bar{q}_{α,β}\eqdef\frac{1+α}{α+β-1}$ optimal if $α+β>1$.

Quasilinear parabolic problem with $p(x)$-Laplacian: existence, uniqueness of weak solutions and stabilization

We discuss the existence and uniqueness of the weak solution of the following quasilinear parabolic equation $u_t-Δ_{p(x)}u = f(x,u)$ in $ (0,T)\timesΩ$; $u = 0$ on $(0,T)\times\partialΩ$; $u(0,x)=u_0(x)$ in $Ω$; involving the $p(x)$-Laplacian operator. Next, we discuss the global behaviour of solutions and in particular some stabilization properties.

Uniqueness of positive solutions of a $n$-Laplace equation in a ball in $\mathbb{r}^n$ with exponential nonlinearity

Let $n \geq 2$ and $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$ be a bounded domain. Then by Trudinger-Moser embedding, $W_0^{1,n}(Ω)$ is embedded in an Orlicz space consisting of exponential functions. Consider the corresponding semi linear $n$-Laplace equation with critical or sub-critical exponential nonlinearity in a ball $B(R)$ with dirichlet boundary condition. In this paper, we prove that under suitable growth conditions on the nonlinearity, there exists an $γ_0 > 0$, and a corresponding $R_0(γ_0 ) > 0$ such that for all $0 < R < R_0$ , the problem admits a unique non degenerate positive radial solution $u$ with $\|u\|_{\infty}\geq γ_0$.

A Singular Parabolic Equation: Existence, Stabilization

We investigate the following quasilinear parabolic and singular equation, {equation} \tag{\rm P$_t$} \{{aligned} & u_t-Δ_p u =\frac{1}{u^δ}+f(x,u)\;\text{in}\,(0,T)\timesΩ, & u =0\,\text{on} \;(0,T)\times\partialΩ,\quad u>0 \text{in}\, (0,T)\timesΩ, &u(0,x) =u_0(x)\;\text{in}Ω, {aligned}. {equation} % where $Ω$ is an open bounded domain with smooth boundary in $\R^{\rm N}$, $1 < p< \infty$, $0<δ$ and $T>0$. We assume that $(x,s)\inΩ\times\R^+\to f(x,s)$ is a bounded below Caratheodory function, locally Lipschitz with respect to $s$ uniformly in $x\inΩ$ and asymptotically sub-homogeneous, i.e. % {equation} \label{sublineargrowth} 0 \leq\displaystyle\lim_{t\to +\infty}\frac{f(x,t)}{t^{p-1}}=α_f<λ_1(Ω), {equation} % (where $λ_1(Ω)$ is the first eigenvalue of $-Δ_p$ in $Ω$ with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions) and $u_0\in L^\infty(Ω)\cap W^{1,p}_0(Ω)$, satisfying a cone condition defined below. Then, for any $δ\in (0,2+\frac{1}{p-1})$, we prove the existence and the uniqueness of a weak solution $u \in{\bf V}(Q_T)$ to $({\rm P_t})$. Furthermore, $u\in C([0,T], W^{1,p}_0(Ω))$ and the restriction $δ<2+\frac{1}{p-1}$ is sharp. Finally, in the last section we analyse the case $p=2$. Using the interpolation spaces theory and the semigroup theory, we prove the existence and the uniqueness of weak solutions to $({\rm P}_t)$ for any $δ>0$ in $C([0,T], L^2(Ω))\cap L^\infty(Q_T)$ and under suitable assumptions on the initial data we give additional regularity results. Finally, we describe their asymptotic behaviour in $L^\infty(Ω)\cap H^1_0(Ω)$ when $δ<3$.
