Compositeness of S-wave weakly-bound states from next-to-leading order Weinberg's relations

We discuss a model-independent estimator of the likelihood of the compositeness of a shallow S-wave bound or virtual state. The approach is based on an extension of Weinberg's relations in Phys. Rev. 137, B672 (1965) and it relies only on the proximity of the energy of the state to the two-hadron threshold to which it significantly couples. The scheme only makes use of the experimental scattering length and the effective range low energy parameters, and it is shown to be fully consistent for predominantly molecular hadrons. As explicit applications, we analyse the case of the deuteron, the $^1{\rm S}_0$ nucleon-nucleon virtual state and the exotic $D^{\ast}_{s0}(2317)^\pm$, and find strong support to the molecular interpretation in all cases. Results are less conclusive for the $D^{\ast}_{s0}(2317)^\pm$, since the binding energy of this state is significantly higher than that of the deuteron, and the approach employed here is at the limit of its applicability. We also qualitatively address the case of the recently discovered $T_{cc}^+$ state, within the isospin limit to avoid the complexity of the very close thresholds $D^0D^{\ast +}$ and $D^+D^{\ast 0}$, which could mask the ingredients of the approach proposed in this work.

Exclusive final state hadron observables from neutrino-nucleus multi-nucleon knockout

We present results of an updated calculation of the 2p2h (two particle two hole) contribution to the neutrino-induced charge-current cross section. We provide also some exclusive observables, interesting from the point of view of experimental studies, e.g. distributions of momenta of the outgoing nucleons and of available energy, which we compare with the results obtained within the NEUT generator. We also compute, and separate from the total, the contributions of 3p3h mechanisms. Finally, we discuss the differences between the present results and previous implementations of the model in MC event-generators, done at the level of inclusive cross sections, which might significantly influence the experimental analyses, particularly in the cases where the hadronic observables are considered.

Hadron and lepton tensors in semileptonic decays including new physics

We extend our general framework for semileptonic decay, originally introduced in N. Penalva et al. [Phys. Rev. D100, 113007 (2019)], with the addition of new physics (NP) tensor terms. In this way, all the NP effective Hamiltonians that are considered in lepton flavour universality violation (LFUV) studies have now been included. Besides, we now also give general expressions that allow for complex Wilson coefficients. The scheme developed is totally general and it can be applied to any charged current semileptonic decay, involving any quark flavors or initial and final hadron states. We show that all the hadronic input, including NP effects, can be parametrized in terms of 16 Lorentz scalar structure functions. In the second part of this work, we use this formalism to obtain the complete NP effects in the $Λ_b\to Λ_c τ\barν_τ$ semileptonic decay, where LFUV, if finally confirmed, is also expected to be seen. We stress the relevance of the center of mass (CM) $d^2Γ/(dωd\cosθ_\ell)$ and laboratory (LAB) $d^2Γ/(dωdE_\ell)$ differential decay widths. While models with very different strengths in the NP terms give the same differential $dΓ/dω$ and total decay widths for this decay, they predict very different numerical results for some of the $\cosθ_\ell$ and $E_\ell$ coefficient-functions that determine the above two distributions. Thus, the combined analysis of the CM $d^2Γ/(dωd\cosθ_\ell)$ and LAB $d^2Γ/ (dωdE_\ell)$ differential decay widths will help clarifying what kind of NP is a better candidate in order to explain LFUV.

$Ξ_c$ and $Ξ_b$ excited states within a ${\rm SU(6)}_{\rm lsf}\times$HQSS model

We study odd parity $J=1/2$ and $J=3/2$ $Ξ_c$ resonances using a unitarized coupled-channel framework based on a ${\rm SU(6)}_{\rm lsf}\times$HQSS-extended Weinberg-Tomozawa baryon-meson interaction, while paying a special attention to the renormalization procedure. We predict a large molecular $Λ_c \bar K$ component for the $Ξ_c(2790)$ with a dominant $0^-$ light-degree-of-freedom spin configuration. We discuss the differences between the $3/2^-$ $Λ_c(2625)$ and $Ξ_c(2815)$ states, and conclude that they cannot be SU(3) siblings, whereas we predict the existence of other $Ξ_c-$states, two of them related to the two-pole structure of the $Λ_c(2595)$. It is of particular interest a pair of $J=1/2$ and $J=3/2$ poles, which form a HQSS doublet and that we tentatively assign to the $Ξ_c(2930)$ and $Ξ_c(2970)$, respectively. Within this picture, the $Ξ_c(2930)$ would be part of a SU(3) sextet, containing either the $Ω_c(3090)$ or the $Ω_c(3119)$, and that would be completed by the $Σ_c(2800)$. Moreover, we identify a $J=1/2$ sextet with the $Ξ_b(6227)$ state and the recently discovered $Σ_b(6097)$. Assuming the equal spacing rule and to complete this multiplet, we predict the existence of a $J=1/2$ $Ω_b$ odd parity state, with a mass of 6360 MeV and that should be seen in the $Ξ_b \bar K$ channel.

Prediction of hidden charm strange molecular baryon states with heavy quark spin symmetry

We have studied the meson-baryon $S-$wave interaction, using coupled channels, in the isoscalar hidden-charm strange sector and $J^P = 1/2^-,3/2^-$ and $5/2^-$. We impose constraints of heavy quark spin symmetry in the interaction and obtain the non vanishing matrix elements from an extension of the local hidden gauge approach to the charm sector. The ultraviolet divergences are renormalized using the same meson-baryon-loops regulator previously employed in the non-strange hidden charm sector, where a good reproduction of the properties of the newly discovered pentaquark states is obtained. We obtain five states of $1/2^-$, four of $3/2^-$ and one of $5/2^-$, which could be compared in the near future with forthcoming LHCb experiments. The $5/2^-$, three of the $3/2^-$ and another three of the $1/2^-$ resonances are originated from isoscalar $\bar D^{(*)}Ξ_c^\prime$ and $\bar D^{(*)}Ξ_c^*$ interactions. They should be located just few MeV below the corresponding thresholds (4446, 4513, 4588 and 4655 MeV), and would be SU(3)-siblings of the isospin 1/2 $\bar D^{(*)} Σ_c^{(*)}$ quasi-bound states previously found, and that provided a robust theoretical description of the $P_c(4440)$, $P_c(4457)$ and $P_c(4312)$ LHCb exotic states. The another two $1/2^-$ and $3/2^-$ states obtained in this work are result of the $\bar D^{(*)}Ξ_c-D^{(*)}_sΛ_c$ coupled-channels isoscalar interaction, are significantly broader than the others, with widths of the order of 15 MeV, being $\bar D^{(*)}_sΛ_c$ the dominant decay channel.

$Z_c(3900)$: Confronting theory and lattice simulations

We consider a recent $T$-matrix analysis by Albaladejo {\it et al.}, [Phys.\ Lett.\ B {\bf 755}, 337 (2016)] which accounts for the $J/ψπ$ and $D^\ast\bar{D}$ coupled--channels dynamics, and that successfully describes the experimental information concerning the recently discovered $Z_c(3900)^\pm$. Within such scheme, the data can be similarly well described in two different scenarios, where the $Z_c(3900)$ is either a resonance or a virtual state. To shed light into the nature of this state, we apply this formalism in a finite box with the aim of comparing with recent Lattice QCD (LQCD) simulations. We see that the energy levels obtained for both scenarios agree well with those obtained in the single-volume LQCD simulation reported in Prelovsek {\it et al.} [Phys.\ Rev.\ D {\bf 91}, 014504 (2015)], making thus difficult to disentangle between both possibilities. We also study the volume dependence of the energy levels obtained with our formalism, and suggest that LQCD simulations performed at several volumes could help in discerning the actual nature of the intriguing $Z_c(3900)$ state.

Present Status of Single Pion Production in Neutrino-Nucleus Reactions

Some of the recent progress in the physics of pion production induced by neutrinos on nucleons and nuclei is reviewed from a theoretical perspective. The importance of Watson's theorem to reconcile ANL and BNL data with the off-diagonal Goldberger-Treiman relation for the $Δ(1232)$ is discussed. The disagreement between MiniBooNE data and theoretical calculations is presented in the light of the new MINERvA data. The coherent pion production data on $^{12}$C obtained by MINERvA are also compared to different microscopic and PCAC models.

Quarkonium Contribution to Meson Molecules

Starting from a molecular picture for the X(3872) resonance, this state and its J^{PC}=2++ HQSS partner [X2(4012)] are analyzed within a model which incorporates possible mixings with 2P charmonium states. Since it is reasonable to expect the bare chi_{c1}(2P) to be located above the D\bar D* threshold, but relatively close to it, the presence of the charmonium state provides an effective attraction that will contribute to bind the X(3872), but it will not appear in the 2++ sector. Indeed in this latter sector, the chi_{c2}(2P) should provide an effective small repulsion, because it is placed well below the D*\bar D* threshold. We show how the 1++ and 2++ bare charmonium poles are modified due to the D(*)\bar D(*) loop effects, and the first one is moved to the complex plane. The meson loops produce, besides some shifts in the masses of the charmonia, a finite width for the 1++ dressed charmonium state. On the other hand, the X(3872) and X2(4012) start developing some charmonium content, which is estimated by means of the compositeness Weinberg sum-rule. We also show that for X(3872) molecular probabilities of around 70-90 %, the X2 resonance destabilizes and disappears from the spectrum, becoming either a virtual state or being located deep into the complex plane, with decreasing influence in the D* \bar D* scattering line.

The $Λ_c(2595)$ resonance as a dynamically generated state: the compositeness condition and the large $N_c$ evolution

Recent studies have shown that the well established $Λ_c(2595)$ resonance contains a large meson-baryon component, which can vary depending on the specific formalism. In this work, we examine such a picture by utilizing the compositeness condition and the large number of colors ($N_c$) expansion. We examine three different models fulfilling two body unitarity in coupled-channels, and adopting renormalization schemes where the mass of the $Λ_c(2595)$ resonance is well described, but not necessarily its width, since we do not consider three body channels and work at the isospin symmetric limit. Both approximations might have an effect larger on the width than on the mass. In this context, our studies show that the compositeness of the $Λ_c(2595)$ depends on the number of considered coupled channels, and on the particular regularization scheme adopted in the unitary approaches and, therefore, is model dependent. In addition, we perform an exploratory study of the $Λ_c(2595)$ in the large $N_c$ expansion, within a scheme involving only the $πΣ_c$ and $KΞ'_c$ channels, whose dynamics is mostly fixed by chiral symmetry. In this context and formulating the leading-order interaction as a function of $N_c$, we show that for moderate $N_c> 3$ values, the mass and width of the $Λ_c(2595)$ deviate from those of a genuine $qqq$ baryon, implying the relevance of meson-baryon components in its wave function. Furthermore, we study the properties of the $Λ_c(2595)$, in the strict $N_c \to \infty $ limit, using an extension of the chiral Weinberg-Tomozawa interaction to an arbitrary number of flavors and colors. This latter study hints at the possible existence of a (perhaps) sub-dominant $qqq$ component in the $Λ_c(2595)$ resonance wave function, which would become dominant when the number of colors gets sufficiently large.

Watson's theorem and the $NΔ(1232)$ axial transition

We present a new determination of the $NΔ$ axial form factors from neutrino induced pion production data. For this purpose, the model of Hernandez {\it et al.} [Phys. Rev. D76, 033005 (2007)] is improved by partially restoring unitarity. This is accomplished by imposing Watson's theorem on the dominant vector and axial multipoles. As a consequence, a larger $C_5^A(0)$, in good agreement with the prediction from the off-diagonal Goldberger-Treiman relation, is now obtained.

Compositeness of the strange, charm and beauty odd parity $Λ$ states

We study the dependence on the quark mass of the compositeness of the lowest-lying odd parity hyperon states. Thus, we pay attention to $Λ-$like states in the strange, charm and beauty, sectors which are dynamically generated using a unitarized meson-baryon model. In the strange sector we use an SU(6) extension of the Weinberg-Tomozawa meson-baryon interaction, and we further implement the heavy-quark spin symmetry to construct the meson-baryon interaction when charmed or beauty hadrons are involved. In the three examined flavor sectors, we obtain two $J^P=1/2^-$ and one $J^P=3/2^-$ $Λ$ states. We find that the $Λ$ states which are bound states (the three $Λ_b$) or narrow resonances (one $Λ(1405)$ and one $Λ_c(2595)$) are well described as molecular states composed of $s$-wave meson-baryon pairs. The $\frac{1}{2}^-$ wide $Λ(1405)$ and $Λ_c(2595)$ as well as the $\frac{3}{2}^-$ $Λ(1520)$ and $Λ_c(2625)$ states display smaller compositeness and so they would require new mechanisms, such as $d$-wave interactions.

Decay widths of the spin-2 partners of the X(3872)

We consider the $X(3872)$ resonance as a $J^{PC}=1^{++}$ $D\bar D^*$ hadronic molecule. According to heavy quark spin symmetry, there will exist a partner with quantum numbers $2^{++}$, $X_{2}$, which would be a $D^*\bar D^*$ loosely bound state. The $X_{2}$ is expected to decay dominantly into $D\bar D$, $D\bar D^*$ and $\bar D D^*$ in $d$-wave. In this work, we calculate the decay widths of the $X_{2}$ resonance into the above channels, as well as those of its bottom partner, $X_{b2}$, the mass of which comes from assuming heavy flavor symmetry for the contact terms. We find partial widths of the $X_{2}$ and $X_{b2}$ of the order of a few MeV. Finally, we also study the radiative $X_2\to D\bar D^{*}γ$ and $X_{b2} \to \bar B B^{*}γ$ decays. These decay modes are more sensitive to the long-distance structure of the resonances and to the $D\bar D^{*}$ or $B\bar B^{*}$ final state interaction.

Formation spectra of charmed meson--nucleus systems using an antiproton beam

We investigate the structure and formation of charmed meson--nucleus systems, with the aim of understanding the charmed meson--nucleon interactions and the properties of the charmed mesons in the nuclear medium. The $\bar{D}$ mesic nuclei are of special interest, since they have tiny decay widths due to the absence of strong decays for the $\bar{D} N$ pair. Employing an effective model for the $\bar{D} N$ and $D N$ interactions and solving the Klein--Gordon equation for $\bar{D}$ and $D$ in finite nuclei, we find that the $D^{-}$-${}^{11}\rm{B}$ system has $1 s$ and $2p$ mesic nuclear states and that the $D^{0}$-${}^{11}\rm{B}$ system binds in a $1s$ state. In view of the forthcoming experiments by the PANDA and CBM Collaborations at the future FAIR facility and the J-PARC upgrade, we calculate the formation spectra of the $[D^{-}$-${}^{11}\rm{B}]$ and $[D^{0}$-${}^{11}\rm{B}]$ mesic nuclei for an antiproton beam on a ${}^{12} \rm{C}$ target. Our results suggest that it is possible to observe the $2 p$ $D^{-}$ mesic nuclear state with an appropriate experimental setup.

Large-$N_c$ naturalness in coupled-channel meson-meson scattering

The analysis of hadronic interactions with effective field theory techniques is complicated by the appearance of a large number of low-energy constants, which are usually fitted to data. On the other hand, the large-$N_c$ limit imposes natural short-distance constraints on these low-energy constants, providing a parameter reduction. A Bayesian interpretation of the expected $1/N_c$ accuracy allows for an easy and efficient implementation of these constraints, using an augmented $χ^2$. We apply this approach to the analysis of meson-meson scattering, in conjunction with chiral perturbation theory to one loop and coupled-channel unitarity, and show that it helps to largely reduce the many existing ambiguities and simultaneously provide an acceptable description of the available phase shifts.

Photon emission in neutral current interactions at the T2K experiment

We have applied a microscopic model for single photon emission in neutral current interactions on nucleons and nuclei to determine the number and distributions of such events at the Super-Kamiokande detector, for the flux and beam exposure of the T2K experiment in neutrino mode. These reactions represent an irreducible background in electron-(anti)neutrino appearance measurements aimed at a precise measurement of mixing angle $θ_{13}$ and the $CP$ violating phase. We have obtained a total number of photon events that is twice larger than the one from the NEUT event generator (version 5.1.4.2) used in the analysis of T2K data. Detailed comparisons of energy and angular distributions for the $ν_μ$ and $\barν_μ$ fluxes have also been performed.

Single photon production induced by (anti)neutrino neutral current scattering on nucleons and nuclear targets

We review our theoretical approach to neutral current photon emission on nucleons and nuclei in the few-GeV energy region, relevant for neutrino oscillation experiments. These reactions are dominated by the weak excitation of the $Δ(1232)$ resonance but there are also important non-resonant contributions. We have also included terms mediated by nucleon excitations from the second resonance region. On nuclei, Pauli blocking, Fermi motion and the in-medium $Δ$ resonance broadening have been taken into account for both incoherent and coherent reaction channels. With this model, the number and distributions of photon events at the MiniBooNE and T2K experiments have been obtained. We have also compared to the NOMAD upper limit at higher energies. The implications of our findings and future perspectives are discussed.

The $ρ(ω)B^*(B)$ interaction and states of $J=0,1,2$

In this work, we study systems composed of a $ρ/ω$ and $B^*$ meson pair. We find three bound states in isospin, spin-parity channels $(1/2, 0^+)$, $(1/2, 1^+)$ and $(1/2, 2^+)$. The state with $J=2$ can be a good candidate for the $B_2^*(5747)$. We also study the $ρB$ system, and a bound state with mass $5728$ MeV and width around $20$ MeV is obtained, which can be identified with the $B_1(5721)$ resonance. In the case of $I=3/2$, one obtains repulsion and thus, no exotic (molecular) mesons in this sector are generated in the approach.

The LHCb pentaquark as a $\bar{D}^*Σ_c-\bar{D}^*Σ_c^*$ molecular state

We perform a theoretical analysis of the $Λ_b \to J/ψK^- p$ reaction from where a recent LHCb experiment extracts a $Λ(1405)$ contribution in the $K^- p$ spectrum close to threshold and two baryon states of hidden charm in the $J/ψ\,p$ spectrum. We recall that baryon states of this type have been theoretically predicted matching the mass, width and $J^P$ of the experiment, concretely some states built up from the $J/ψ\, N$, $\bar D^* Λ_c$, $\bar D^* Σ_c$, $\bar D Σ^*_c$ and $\bar D^* Σ^*_c$ coupled channels. We assume that the observed narrow state around 4450 MeV has this nature and we are able to describe simultaneously the shapes and relative strength of the the $K^- p$ mass distribution close to threshold and the peak of the $J/ψ\,p$ distribution, with values of the $J/ψ\, p$ coupling to the resonance in line with the theoretical ones. The non trivial matching of many properties gives support to a $J^P=3/2^-$ assignment to this state and to its nature as a molecular state mostly made of $\bar D^* Σ_c$ and $\bar D^* Σ^*_c$.

Weak Quasielastic Production of Hyperons and Threshold Production of Two Pions

We have studied quasielastic charged current hyperon production induced by $\barν_μ$ on free nucleon and the nucleons bound inside the nucleus and the results are presented for several nuclear targets like $^{40}Ar$, $^{56}Fe$ and $^{208}Pb$. The hyperon-nucleon transition form factors are determined from neutrino-nucleon scattering and semileptonic decays of neutron and hyperons using SU(3) symmetry. The nuclear medium effects(NME) due to Fermi motion and final state interaction(FSI) effect due to hyperon-nucleon scattering have been taken into account. Also we have studied two pion production at threshold induced by neutrinos off nucleon targets. The contribution of nucleon, pion, and contact terms are calculated using Lagrangian given by nonlinear $σ$ model. The contribution of the Roper resonance has also been taken into account. The numerical results for the cross sections are presented and compared with the experimental results from ANL and BNL.

$\bar B_s\to K$ semileptonic decay from an Omnès improved constituent quark model

We study the $f^+$ form factor for the semileptonic $\bar B_s\to K^+\ell^-\barν_\ell$ decay in a constituent quark model. The valence quark estimate is supplemented with the contribution from the $\bar B^*$ pole that dominates the high $q^2$ region. We use a multiply-subtracted Omnès dispersion relation to extend the quark model predictions from its region of applicability near $q^2_{\rm max}=(M_{B_s}-M_K)^2\sim 23.75$ GeV$^2$ to all $q^2$ values accessible in the physical decay. To better constrain the dependence of $f^+$ on $q^2$, we fit the subtraction constants to a combined input from previous light cone sum rule [Phys. Rev. D 78 (2008) 054015] and the present quark model results. From this analysis, we obtain $Γ(\bar B_s\to K^+\ell^-\barν_\ell)=(5.45^{+0.83}_{-0.80})|V_{ub}|^2\times 10^{-9}\,{\rm MeV}$, which is about 20\% higher than the prediction based only on QCD light cone sum rule estimates. Differences are much larger for the $f^+$ form factor in the region above $q^2=15$ GeV$^2$.

$\bar B_s\to K$ semileptonic decay from an Omnès improved nonrelativistic quark model

We study the $f^+$ form factor for the $\bar B_s\to K^+\ell^-\barν_\ell$ semileptonic decay in a nonrelativistic quark model. The valence quark contribution is supplemented with a $\bar B^*$-pole term that dominates the high $q^2$ region. To extend the quark model predictions from its region of applicability near $q^2_{\rm max}=(M_{B_s}-M_K)^2$, we use a multiply-subtracted Omnès dispersion relation. We fit the subtraction constants to a combined input from previous light cone sum rule results in the low $q^2$ region and the quark model results (valence plus $\bar B^*$-pole) in the high $q^2$ region. From this analysis, we obtain $Γ(\bar B_s\to K^+\ell^-\barν_\ell)=(5.47^{+0.54}_{-0.46})|V_{ub}|^2\times 10^{-9}\,{\rm MeV}$, which is about 10% and 20% higher than predictions based on Lattice QCD and QCD light cone sum rules respectively.

$B_s$ mesons: semileptonic and nonleptonic decays

In this contribution we compute some nonleptonic and semileptonic decay widths of $B_s$ mesons, working in the context of constituent quark models \cite{Albertus:2014gba, Albertus:2014bfa}. For the case of semileptonic decays we consider reactions leading to kaons or different $J^π$ $D_s$ mesons. The study of nonleptonic decays has been done in the factorisation approximation and includes the final states enclosed in Table 2.

$B\to ρ$ semileptonic decays and $|V_{ub}|$

We reevaluate the $B\toρ\,l^+ν_l$ decay width as a full $B\toππ\,l^+ν_l$ four-particle decay, in which the two final pions are produced via an intermediate $ρ$ meson. The decay width can be written as a convolution of the $B\toρ\,l^+ν_l$ decay width, for an off-shell $ρ$, with the $ρ\toππ$ line shape. This allows to fully incorporate the effects of the finite $ρ$ meson width. As shown, consideration of the $ρ$ meson width effects increase the $|V_{ub}|$ value by some 8%, rendering it in better agreement with the determination based in the $B\toπ$ decay. We take the $q^2$ dependence of the $B\to ρ$ semileptonic form factors from a dispersive Omnès representation. The Omnès subtraction constants and the overall normalization parameter $|V_{ub}|$ are fitted to light cone sum rules and lattice QCD theoretical form-factor calculations, in the low and high $q^2$ regions respectively, together to the CLEO, BaBar and Belle experimental partial branching fraction distributions. The extracted value from this global fit is $|V_{ub}|=(3.12\pm 0.13)\times 10^{-3}$, in agreement with the average $B\to π$ exclusive value $|V_{ub}|=(3.23\pm 0.31)\times 10^{-3}$ quoted by the Particle Data Group. The extracted value increases to $|V_{ub}|=(3.51\pm 0.16)\times 10^{-3}$ if only the most recent Belle Collaboration data is used. This latter value is in agreement with different theoretical determinations based in the $B\toπ$ semileptonic decay and the values obtained by the CKMfitter and UTfit groups. In any case a clear tension with the $|V_{ub}|$ value extracted from inclusive semileptonic $b\to u$ decays still persists.

Hidden charm and bottom molecular states

We investigate heavy quark symmetries for heavy light meson-antimeson systems in a contact-range effective field theory. In the SU(3) light flavor limit, the leading order Lagrangian respecting heavy quark spin symmetry contains four independent counter-terms. Neglecting $1/m_Q$ corrections, three of these low energy constants can be determ1ined by theorizing a molecular description of the $X(3872)$ and $Z_b(10610)$ states. Thus, we can predict new hadronic molecules, in particular the isovector charmonium partners of the $Z_b(10610)$ and the $Z_b(10650)$ states. We also discuss hadron molecules composed of a heavy meson and a doubly-heavy baryon, which would be related to the heavy meson-antimeson molecules thanks to the heavy antiquark-diquark symmetry. Finally, we also study the $X(3872) \to D^0\bar D^0π^0$ decay, which is not only sensitive to the short distance part of the $X(3872)$ molecular wave function, as the $J/ψππ$ and $J/\psi3π$ $X(3872)$ decay modes are, but it is also affected by the long-distance structure of the resonance. Furthermore, this decay might provide some information on the interaction between the $D\bar D$ charm mesons.

Long-distance structure of the X(3872)

We investigate heavy quark symmetries for heavy meson hadronic molecules, and explore the consequences of assuming the X(3872) and $Z_b(10610)$ as an isoscalar $D\bar D^*$ and an isovector $B\bar B^*$ hadronic molecules, respectively. The symmetry allows to predict new hadronic molecules, in particular we find an isoscalar $1^{++}$ $B\bar B^*$ bound state with a mass about 10580 MeV and the isovector charmonium partners of the $Z_b(10610)$ and the $Z_b(10650)$ states. Next, we study the $X(3872) \to D^0 \bar D^0π^0$ three body decay. This decay mode is more sensitive to the long-distance structure of the X(3872) resonance than its $J/ψππ$ and $J/\psi3π$ decays, which are mainly controlled by the short distance part of the X(3872) molecular wave function. We discuss the $D^0 \bar D^0$ final state interactions, which in some situations become quite important. Indeed in these cases, a precise measurement of this partial decay width could provide precise information on the interaction strength between the $D^{(*)}\bar D^{(*)}$ charm mesons.

Neutrino-nucleus quasi-elastic and 2p2h interactions up to 10 GeV

We extend to 10 GeV results from a microscopic calculation of charged-current neutrino-nucleus reactions that do not produce a pion in the final state. For the class of events coming from neutrino interactions with two nucleons producing two holes (2p2h), limiting the calculation to three-momentum transfers less than 1.2 GeV produces a two dimensional distribution in momentum and energy transfer that is roughly constant as a function of energy. The cross section for 2p2h interactions scales with the number of nucleons for isoscalar nuclei, similar to the quasi-elastic (QE) cross section. When limited to momentum transfers below 1.2 GeV, the cross section is 26% of the QE cross section at 3 GeV, but 14% if we neglect a Delta1232 resonance absorption component. The same quantities are 33% and 17% for anti-neutrinos. For the quasi-elastic interactions, the full nuclear model with long range correlations produces an even larger, but approximately constant distortion of the shape of the four-momentum transfer at all energies above 2 GeV. The 2p2h enhancement and long-range correlation distortions to the cross section for these interactions is significant enough they should be observable in precision experiments to measure neutrino oscillations and neutrino interactions at these energies, but also balance out and produce less total distortion than each effect does individually.

Progress and open questions in the physics of neutrino cross sections

New and more precise measurements of neutrino cross sections have renewed the interest in a better understanding of electroweak interactions on nucleons and nuclei. This effort is crucial to achieve the precision goals of the neutrino oscillation program, making new discoveries, like the CP violation in the leptonic sector, possible. We review the recent progress in the physics of neutrino cross sections, putting emphasis on the open questions that arise in the comparison with new experimental data. Following an overview of recent neutrino experiments and future plans, we present some details about the theoretical development in the description of (anti)neutrino-induced quasielastic scattering and the role of multi-nucleon quasielastic-like mechanisms. We cover not only pion production in nucleons and nuclei but also other inelastic channels including strangeness production and photon emission. Coherent reaction channels on nuclear targets are also discussed. Finally, we briefly describe some of the Monte Carlo event generators, which are at the core of all neutrino oscillation and cross section measurements.

Re-analysis of the $Λ(1520)$ photoproduction reaction

Based on previous studies that support the important role of the $N^*(2120) D_{13}$ resonance in the $γp \to K^+ Λ(1520)$ reaction, we make a re-analysis of this $Λ(1520)$ photoproduction reaction taking into account the recent CLAS differential cross-section data. In addition to the contact, $t-$channel $\bar K$ exchange, $s-$channel nucleon pole and $N^*(2120)$ [previously called $N^*(2080)$] resonance contributions, which have been already considered in previous works, we also study the $u-$channel $Λ(1115)$ hyperon pole term. The latter mechanism has always been ignored in all theoretical analysis, which has mostly relied on the very forward $K^+$ angular LEPS data. It is shown that when the contributions from the $N^*(2120)$ resonance and the $Λ(1115)$ hyperon are taken into account, both the new CLAS and the previous LEPS data can be simultaneously described. We also show that the contribution from the $u-$channel $Λ(1115)$ pole term produces an enhancement for large $K^+$ angles, and it becomes more and more relevant as the photon energy increases, being essential to describe the CLAS differential cross sections at backward angles. Furthermore, we find that the new CLAS data also favor the existence of the $N^*(2120)$ resonance, and that these measurements can be used to further constrain its properties.

Single photon events from neutral current interactions at MiniBooNE

The MiniBooNE experiment has reported results from the analysis of $ν_e$ and $\bar ν_e$ appearance searches, which show an excess of signal-like events at low reconstructed neutrino energies, with respect to the expected background. A significant component of this background comes from photon emission induced by (anti)neutrino neutral current interactions with nucleons and nuclei. With an improved microscopic model for these reactions, we predict the number and distributions of photon events at the MiniBooNE detector. Our results are compared to the MiniBooNE in situ estimate and to other theoretical approaches. We find that, according to our model, neutral current photon emission from single-nucleon currents is insufficient to explain the events excess observed by MiniBooNE in both neutrino and antineutrino modes.

$ΛΛ$ interaction and hypernuclei

Data on $ΛΛ$ hypernuclei provide a unique method to learn details about the strangeness S =- 2 sector of the baryon-baryon interaction. From the free space Bonn-Jülich potentials, determined from data on baryon-baryon scattering in the S = 0, -1 channels, we construct an interaction in the S =-2 sector to describe the experimentally known LL hypernuclei. After including short-range (Jastrow) and RPA correlations, we find masses for these LL hypernuclei in a reasonable agreement with data, taking into account theoretical and experimental uncertainties. Thus, we provide a natural extension, at low energies, of the Bonn-Jülich one-boson exchange potentials to the S =-2 channel.

A nonrelativistic quark model evaluation of exclusive $b\to c$ semileptonic decay of triply heavy baryons and $c\to s,d$ semileptonic decay of $cb$ baryons

We present results for exclusive $b\to c$ semileptonic decays of ground state triply-heavy baryons and for semileptonic $c\to s,d$ decays of doubly heavy ground state $cb$ baryons. In both cases, we have derived for the first time heavy quark spin symmetry relations for the hadronic amplitudes near zero recoil. Though strictly valid in the limit of very large heavy quark masses and near zero recoil, they turn out to be reasonable accurate for the whole available phase space in these decays and for the actual heavy quark masses we use. With these relations we have made approximate, but model independent, predictions for ratios of decay widths. In the case of spin-1/2 $cb$ baryons, we find that hyperfine mixing in the wave function has a great impact on their $c\to s,d$ decay widths.

Charming Baryons

We study odd-parity baryonic resonances with one heavy and three light flavors, dynamically generated by meson-baryon interactions. Special attention is paid to Heavy Quark Spin Symmetry (HQSS), hence pseudoscalar and vector mesons and baryons with J^P = 1/2+ and 3/2+ are considered as constituent hadrons. For the hidden-charm sector (N-c-quarks = N-c-antiquarks = 1), the meson-baryon Lagrangian with Heavy Flavor Symmetry is constructed by a minimal extension of the SU(3) Weinberg-Tomozawa (WT) Lagrangian to fulfill HQSS, such that not new parameters are needed. This interaction can be presented in different formal ways: as a Field Lagrangian, as Hadron creation-annihilation operators, as SU(6)xHQSS group projectors and as multichannel matrices. The multichannel Bethe-Salpeter equation is solved for odd-parity light baryons, hidden-charm N and Delta and Beauty Baryons (Lambda-b). Results of calculations with this model are shown in comparison with other models and experimental values for baryonic resonances.

Combining heavy quark spin and local hidden gauge symmetries in the dynamical generation of hidden charm baryons

We present a coupled channel unitary approach to obtain states dynamically generated from the meson baryon interaction with hidden charm, using constraints of heavy quark spin symmetry. We use as basis of states, $\bar D B$, $\bar D^* B$ states, with $B$ baryon charmed states belonging to the 20 representations of SU(4) with $J^P=1/2^+,~3/2^+$. In addition we also include the $η_c N$ and $J/ψN$ states. The inclusion of these coupled channels is demanded by heavy quark spin symmetry, since in the large $m_Q$ limit the $D$ and $D^*$ states are degenerate and are obtained from each other by means of a spin rotation, under which QCD is invariant. The novelty in the work is that we use dynamics from the extrapolation of the local hidden gauge model to SU(4) and we show that this dynamics fully respects the constraints of heavy quark spin symmetry. With the full space of states demanded by the heavy quark spin symmetry and the dynamics of the local hidden gauge we look for states dynamically generated and find four basic states which are bound, corresponding to $\bar D Σ_c$, $\bar D Σ_c^*$, $\bar D^* Σ_c$ and $\bar D^* Σ_c^*$, decaying mostly into $η_c N$ and $J/ψN$. All the states appear in isospin $I=1/2$ and we find no bound states or resonances in $I=3/2$. The $\bar D Σ_c$ state appears in $J=1/2$, the $\bar D Σ_c^*$ in $J=3/2$, the $\bar D^* Σ_c$ appears nearly degenerate in $J=1/2, ~3/2$ and the $\bar D^* Σ_c^*$ appears nearly degenerate in $J=1/2, ~3/2, ~5/2$, with the peculiarity that in $J=5/2$ the state has zero width in the space of states chosen. All the states are bound with about 50 MeV with respect to the corresponding $\bar D B$ thresholds and the width, except for the $J=5/2$ state, is also of the same order of magnitude.

Hidden charm molecules in a Finite Volume

In the present paper we address the interaction of charmed mesons in hidden charm channels in a finite box. We use the interaction from a recent model based on heavy quark spin symmetry that predicts molecules of hidden charm in the infinite volume. The energy levels in the box are generated within this model, and several methods for the analysis of these levels ("inverse problem") are investigated.

Hidden charm N and Delta resonances with heavy-quark symmetry

We develop a model to describe odd parity baryon resonances generated dynamically through a unitary baryon-meson coupled-channels approach. The scheme applies to channels with light and/or heavy quark content. Distinct features of the model are that, i) the interaction is an S-wave contact one, ii) it reduces to the SU(3) Weinberg-Tomozawa Hamiltonian when light pseudoscalar mesons are involved, thus, respecting chiral symmetry, iii) spin-flavor in preserved in the light quark sector, and iv) heavy quark spin symmetry is fulfilled in the heavy quark sector. In particular, baryon-meson states with different content in c or in c-bar do not mix. The model is a minimal one and it contains no free parameters. In this work, we focus on baryon resonances with hidden-charm (at least one c-bar and one c quarks). We analyze several possible sectors and, for the sector with zero net charm, we write down the most general Lagrangian consistent with SU(3) and heavy quark spin symmetry. We explicitly study the N and Delta states, which are produced from the S-wave interaction of pseudoscalar and vector mesons with 1/2+ and 3/2+ baryons within the charmless and strangeless hidden charm sector. We predict seven odd parity N-like and five Delta-like states with masses around 4 GeV, most of them as bound states. These states form heavy-quark spin multiplets, which are almost degenerate in mass. The predicted new resonances definitely cannot be accommodated by quark models with three constituent quarks and they might be looked for in the forthcoming PANDA experiment at the future FAIR facility.

Light Flavour and Heavy Quark Spin Symmetry in Heavy Meson Molecules

We propose an effective field theory incorporating light SU(3)-flavour and heavy quark spin symmetry to describe charmed meson-antimeson bound states. At lowest order the effective field theory entails a remarkable simplification: it only involves contact range interactions among the heavy meson and antimeson fields. We show that the isospin violating decays of the X(3872) can be used to constraint the interaction between the $D$ and a $\bar{D}^*$ mesons in the isovector channel. As a consequence, we can rule out the existence of a isovector partner of the X(3872). If we additionally assume that the X(3915) and Y(4140) are $D^*\bar{D}^*$ and $D_s^*\bar{D}_s^*$ molecular states, we can determine the full spectrum of molecular states with isospin I=0, 1/2 and 1.

Low-lying even parity meson resonances and spin-flavor symmetry revisited

We review and extend the model derived in Phys. Rev. D83 016007 (2011) to address the dynamics of the low-lying even parity meson resonances. This model is based on a coupled channels spin-flavor extension of the chiral Weinberg-Tomozawa Lagrangian. This interaction is then used to study the S-wave meson-meson scattering involving members not only of the π-octet, but also of the ρ-nonet. In this work, we study in detail the structure of the SU(6) symmetry breaking contact terms that respect (or softly break) chiral symmetry. We derive the most general local (without involving derivatives) terms consistent with the chiral symmetry breaking pattern of QCD. After introducing sensible simplifications to reduce the large number of possible operators, we carry out a phenomenological discussion of the effects of these terms. We show how the inclusion of these pieces leads to an improvement of the description of J^P = 2^+ sector, without spoiling the main features of the predictions obtained in the original model in the J^P = 0^+ and J^P = 1^+ sectors. In particular, we find a significantly better description of the I^G(J^{PC})=0^+(2^{++}), 1^-(2^{++}) and the I(J^{P})=\frac{1}{2}(2^{+}) sectors, which correspond to the f_2(1270), a_2(1320) and K^*_2(1430) quantum numbers, respectively.

Odd parity bottom-flavored baryon resonances

The LHCb Collaboration has recently observed two narrow baryon resonances with beauty. Their masses and decay modes look consistent with the quark model orbitally excited states Lambda_b(5912) and Lambda*_b(5920), with quantum numbers J^P=1/2^- and 3/2^-, respectively. We predict the existence of these states within a unitarized meson-baryon coupled-channel dynamical model, which implements heavy-quark spin symmetry. Masses, quantum numbers and couplings of these resonances to the different meson-baryon channels are obtained. We find that the resonances Lambda^0_b(5912) and Lambda^0_b(5920) are heavy-quark spin symmetry partners, which naturally explains their approximate mass degeneracy. Corresponding bottom-strange baryon resonances are predicted at Xi_b(6035.4) (J^P=1/2^-) and Xi_b(6043.3) (J^P=3/2^-). The two Lambda_b and two Xi_b resonances complete a multiplet of SU(3)-flavor times heavy-quark spin symmetry.

Odd-parity dynamically generated baryon resonances with beauty flavor

We study baryon resonances with heavy flavor in a molecular approach, thus as dynamically generated by baryon-meson scattering. This is accomplished by using a unitary coupled-channel model taking, as bare interaction, the extension of the Weinberg-Tomozawa SU(3) Lagrangian. A special attention is payed to the inclusion of heavy-quark spin symmetry and to the study of the generated baryon resonances that complete the heavy-quark spin multiplets. Our model reproduces the Λ_b(5912) and Λ_b(5920) baryons, which were recently observed by the LHCb collaboration. According to our analysis, these two states are heavy-quark spin symmetric partners. We also make predictions for few Ξ_b baryon resonances, which belong to the same SU(3)xHQSS multiplets as the Λ_b particles.

One-pion production in neutrino-nucleus collisions

We use our model for neutrino pion production on the nucleon to study pion production on a nucleus. The model is conveniently modified to include in-medium corrections and its validity is extended up to 2 GeV neutrino energies by the inclusion of new resonant contributions in the production process. Our results are compared with recent MiniBooNE data measured in mineral oil. Our total cross sections are below data for neutrino energies above 1 GeV. As with other theoretical calculations, the agreement with data improves if we neglect pion final state interaction. This is also the case for differential cross sections convoluted over the neutrino flux.

Photon emission in neutral current interactions at intermediate energies

Neutral current photon emission reactions with nucleons and nuclei are studied. These processes are important backgrounds for nu_mu to nu_e (bar(nu)_mu to bar(nu)_e) appearance oscillation experiments where electromagnetic showers instigated by electrons (positrons) and photons are not distinguishable. At intermediate energies, these reactions are dominated by the weak excitation of the Delta(1232) resonance and its subsequent decay into Ngamma There are also non-resonant contributions that, close to threshold, are fully determined by the effective chiral Lagrangian of strong interactions. In addition, we have also included mechanisms mediated by nucleon excitations (N*) from the second resonance region above the Delta(1232). From these states, the contribution of the D13 N*(1520) turns out to be sizable for (anti)neutrino energies above 1.5 GeV. We have extended the model to nuclear targets taking, into account Pauli blocking, Fermi motion and the in-medium Delta resonance broadening. We present our predictions for both the incoherent and coherent channels, showing the relevance of the nuclear corrections. We also discuss the target mass dependence of the cross sections. This study is important in order to reduce systematic effects in neutrino oscillation experiments.

We report on our study of photon emission induced by Enu ~ 1 GeV (anti)neutrino neutral current interactions with nucleons and nuclei. This process is an important background for nu_e appearance oscillation experiments. At the relevant energies, the reaction is dominated by the excitation of the Delta (1232) resonance but there are also non-resonant contributions that, close to threshold, are fully determined by the effective chiral Lagrangian of strong interactions. We have obtained differential and integrated cross section for the (anti)neutrino-nucleon scattering and compare them with previous results. Furthermore, we have extended the model to nuclear targets taking into account Fermi motion, Pauli blocking and the in-medium modifications of the Delta properties. Single pion production in neutrino nucleus scattering

We study one pion production in both charged and neutral current neutrino nucleus scattering for neutrino energies below 2 GeV. We use a theoretical model for one pion production at the nucleon level that we correct for medium effects. The results are incorporated into a cascade program that apart from production also includes the pion final state interaction inside the nucleus. Besides, in some specific channels coherent pion production is also possible and we evaluate its contribution as well. Our results for total and differential cross sections are compared with recent data from the MiniBooNE Collaboration. The model provides an overall acceptable description of data, better for NC than for CC channels, although theory is systematically below data. Differential cross sections, folded with the full neutrino flux, show that most of the missing pions lie on the forward direction and at high energies.

The associate $KΛ(1520)$ photon and hadronic production in the $γp \to K^+Λ(1520)$, $p p \to p K^+ Λ(1520)$ and $π^- p \to K^0 Λ(1520)$ reactions are investigated within the effective Lagrangian approach and the isobar model. We are interested in the contribution from the $N^*(2120)$ (previously called $N^*(2080)$) resonance, which has a significant coupling to the $KΛ(1520)$ channel. The theoretical results show that the current experimental data for the $γp \to K^+Λ(1520)$ reaction favor the existence of the $N^*(2120)$ resonance, and that these measurements can be used to further constrain its properties. We present results, including the $N^*(2120)$ contribution, for total cross sections of the $γp \to K^+Λ(1520)$, $π^- p \to K^0 Λ(1520)$, and $p p \to p K^+ Λ(1520)$ reactions. Different experiments on hadron spectroscopy have long suspected the existence of several cascade states in the $1900-2000 {\rm MeV}$ region. They are usually labeled under the common name of $Ξ(1950)$. As we argue here, there are also theoretical reasons supporting the idea of several $Ξ(1950)$ resonances. In particular, we propose the existence of three $Ξ(1950)$ states: one of these states would be part of a spin-parity $(1/2)^{-}$ decuplet and the other two probably would belong to the $(5/2)^{+}$ and $(5/2)^{-}$ octets. We also identify which decay channels are the more appropriate for the detection of each of the previous states.

This is accomplished by extending the SU(3) Weinberg-Tomozawa chiral Lagrangian to SU(8) spin-flavor symmetry and implementing a strong flavor symmetry breaking. The model generates dynamically resonances with negative parity in all the isospin, spin, and strange and charm sectors that one can form from an s-wave interaction between pseudoscalar and vector meson multiplets with $1/2^+$ and $3/2^+$ baryons. Our results are compared with experimental data from several facilities as well as with other theoretical models. Moreover, we obtain the properties of charmed pseudoscalar and vector mesons in dense matter within this coupled-channel unitary effective model by taking into account Pauli-blocking effects and meson self-energies in a self-consistent manner. In this work, an Effective Field Theory (EFT) incorporating light SU(3)-flavour and heavy quark spin symmetry is used to describe charmed meson-antimeson bound states. Neutrino Energy Reconstruction and the Shape of the CCQE-like Total Cross Section

We show that because of the multinucleon mechanism effects, the algorithm used to reconstruct the neutrino energy is not adequate when dealing with quasielastic-like events, and a distortion of the total flux unfolded cross section shape is produced. This amounts to a redistribution of strength from high to low energies, which gives rise to a sizable excess (deficit) of low (high) energy neutrinos. This distortion of the shape leads to a good description of the MiniBooNE unfolded CCQE-like cross sections published in Phys.Rev. D81 (2010) 092005. However, these changes in the shape are artifacts of the unfolding process that ignores multinucleon mechanisms.

The Heavy Quark Spin Symmetry Partners of the X(3872)

We explore the consequences of heavy quark spin symmetry for the charmed meson-antimeson system in a contact-range (or pionless) effective field theory. As a trivial consequence, we theorize the existence of a heavy quark spin symmetry partner of the X(3872), with $J^{PC}=2^{++}$, which we call X(4012) in reference to its predicted mass. If we additionally assume that the X(3915) is a $0^{++}$ heavy spin symmetry partner of the X(3872), we end up predicting a total of six $D^{(*)}\bar{D}^{(*)}$ molecular states. Couplings in coupled channels versus wave functions in the case of resonances: application to the two $Λ(1405)$ states

In this paper we develop a formalism to evaluate wave functions in momentum and coordinate space for the resonant states dynamically generated in a unitary coupled channel approach. The on shell approach for the scattering matrix, commonly used, is also obtained in Quantum Mechanics with a separable potential, which allows one to write wave functions in a trivial way. We develop useful relationships among the couplings of the dynamically generated resonances to the different channels and the wave functions at the origin. The formalism provides an intuitive picture of the resonances in the coupled channel approach, as bound states of one bound channel, which decays into open ones. It also provides an insight and practical rules for evaluating couplings of the resonances to external sources and how to deal with final state interaction in production processes. As an application of the formalism we evaluate the wave functions of the two $Λ(1405)$ states in the $πΣ$, $\bar{K} N$ and other coupled channels.

Results for energy levels and widths of D^- mesic atoms in 12C, 40Ca, 118Sn and 208Pb are presented. The spectrum contains states of atomic and of nuclear types for all nuclei. anti-D^0--nucleus bound states are also obtained. Deriving the existence of $B\bar{B}^*$ bound states from the X(3872) and Heavy Quark Symmetry

We discuss the possibility and the description of bound states between $B$ and $\bar{B}^*$ mesons. We argue that the existence of such a bound state can be deduced from (i) the weakly bound X(3872) state, (ii) certain assumptions about the short range dynamics of the $D\bar{D}^*$ system and (iii) heavy quark symmetry. From these assumptions the binding energy of the possible $B\bar{B}^*$ bound states is determined, first in a theory containing only contact interactions which serves as a straightforward illustration of the method, and then the effects of including the one pion exchange potential are discussed. In this latter case three isoscalar states are predicted: a positive and negative C-parity $^3S_1-{}^3D_1$ state with a binding energy of $20\,{\rm MeV}$ and $6\,{\rm MeV}$ below threshold respectively, and a positive C-parity $^3P_0$ shallow state located almost at the $B\bar{B}^*$ threshold. However, large uncertainties are generated as a consequence of the $1/m_Q$ corrections from heavy quark symmetry. Finally, the newly discovered isovector $Z_b(10610)$ state can be easily accommodated within the present framework by a minor modification of the short range dynamics.

Only a few exclusive semileptonic decay channels have been theoretically analyzed before. For those cases we find that our results are in a reasonable agreement with previous calculations.

Inclusive Charged--Current Neutrino--Nucleus Reactions

We present a model for weak CC induced nuclear reactions at energies of interest for current and future neutrino oscillation experiments. This model is a natural extension of the work of Refs.[1,2], where the QE contribution to the inclusive electron and neutrino scattering on nuclei was analyzed. The model is based on a systematic many body expansion of the gauge boson absorption modes that includes one, two and even three body mechanisms, as well as the excitation of Delta isobars. The whole scheme has no free parameters, besides those previously adjusted to the weak pion production off the nucleon cross sections in the deuteron, since all nuclear effects were set up in previous studies of photon, electron and pion interactions with nuclei. We have discussed at length the recent charged current quasi-elastic MiniBooNE cross section data, and showed that two nucleon knockout mechanisms are essential to describe these measurements.

Large-Nc Properties of the rho and f0(600) Mesons from Unitary Resonance Chiral Dynamics

We construct pi-pi amplitudes that fulfill exact elastic unitarity, account for one loop Chiral Perturbation Theory contributions and include all 1/Nc leading terms, with the only limitation of considering just the lowest-lying nonet of exchanged resonances. Within such scheme, the Nc dependence of sigma and rho masses and widths is discussed. Robust conclusions are drawn in the case of the rho resonance, confirming that it is a stable meson in the limit of a large number of QCD colors, Nc. Less definitive conclusions are reached in the scalar-isoscalar sector. With the present quality of data, we cannot firmly conclude whether or not the Nc=3 f0(600) resonance completely disappears at large Nc or it has a sub-dominant component in its structure, which would become dominant for a number of quark colors sufficiently large.

Odd Parity Light Baryon Resonances

We use a consistent SU(6) extension of the meson-baryon chiral Lagrangian within a coupled channel unitary approach in order to calculate the T-matrix for meson-baryon scattering in s-wave. The building blocks of the scheme are the pion and nucleon octets, the rho nonet and the Delta decuplet. We identify poles in this unitary T-matrix and interpret them as resonances. We study here the non exotic sectors with strangeness S=0,-1,-2,-3 and spin J=1/2, 3/2 and 5/2. Many of the poles generated can be associated with known N, Delta, Sigma, Lambda and Xi resonances with negative parity. We show that most of the low-lying three and four star odd parity baryon resonances with spin 1/2 and 3/2 can be related to multiplets of the spin-flavor symmetry group SU(6). This study allows us to predict the spin-parity of the Xi(1620), Xi(1690), Xi(1950), Xi(2250), Omega(2250) and Omega(2380) resonances, which have not been determined experimentally yet.

Resonance interpretation of the bump structure in the $γp \to K^+ Λ(1520)$ differential cross section

We investigate the $Λ(1520)$ photoproduction in the $\vecγ p \to K^+ Λ(1520)$ reaction within the effective Lagrangian method near threshold. In addition to the "background" contributions from the contact, $t-$channel $K$ exchange, and $s-$channel nucleon pole terms, which were already considered in previous works, the contribution from the nucleon resonance $N^*(2080)$ (spin-parity $J^P = 3/2^-$) is also considered. We show that the inclusion of the nucleon resonance $N^*(2080)$ leads to a fairly good description of the new LEPS differential cross-section data, and that these measurements can be used to determine some of the properties of this latter resonance.

Study of the strong $Σ_b\to Λ_b\, π$ and $Σ_b^{*}\to Λ_b\, π$ in a non-relativistic quark model

We present results for the strong widths corresponding to the $Σ_b\to Λ_b\, π$ and $Σ_b^{*}\to Λ_b\, π$ decays. We apply our model in Ref. Phys. Rev. Our non-relativistic constituent quark model uses wave functions that take advantage of the constraints imposed by heavy quark symmetry. Partial conservation of axial current hypothesis allows us to determine the strong vertices from an analysis of the axial current matrix elements.

The nucleon axial mass and the MiniBooNE CCQE neutrino-nucleus data

We analyze the MiniBooNE CCQE $dσ/dT_μd\cosθ_μ$ data using a theoretical model that has proved to be quite successful in the analysis of nuclear reactions with electron, photon and pion probes. We find that RPA and multinucleon knockout turn out to be essential for the description of the MiniBooNE data. We show these measurements are fully compatible with former determinations of nucleon axial mass $M_A$, in contrast with several previous analyses, which have suggested an anomalously large value. We find, $M_A=1.08 \pm 0.03$ GeV. We also argue that the procedure, commonly used to reconstruct the neutrino energy for QE events from the muon angle and energy, could be unreliable for a wide region of the phase space, due to the large importance of multinucleon events.

The charged-current double differential neutrino cross section, measured by the MiniBooNE Collaboration, has been analyzed using a microscopical model that accounts for, among other nuclear effects, long range nuclear (RPA) correlations and multinucleon scattering. We find that MiniBooNE data are fully compatible with the world average of the nucleon axial mass in contrast with several previous analyses which have suggested an anomalously large value. We also discuss the reliability of the algorithm used to estimate the neutrino energy.

Coherent pion production off nuclei at T2K and MiniBooNE energies revisited

As a result of a new improved fit to old bubble chamber data of the dominant axial C_5^A nucleon-to-Delta form factor, and due to the relevance of this form factor for neutrino induced coherent pion production, we re-evaluate our model predictions in Phys. Rev. D79, 013002 (2009) for different observables of the latter reaction. Central values for the total cross sections increase by 20% to 30%, while differential cross sections do not change their shape appreciably. Furthermore, we also compute the uncertainties on total, differential and flux averaged cross sections induced by the errors in the determination of C_5^A. Our new results turn out to be compatible within about 1 sigma with the former ones. Finally, we stress the existing tension between the recent experimental determination of the sigma(CC coh π^+)/sigma(NC coh π^0) ratio by the SciBooNE Collaboration and the theoretical predictions.

Couplings in coupled channels versus wave functions: application to the X(3872) resonance

We perform an analytical study of the scattering matrix and bound states in problems with many physical coupled channels. We establish the relationship of the couplings of the states to the different channels, obtained from the residues of the scattering matrix at the poles, with the wave functions for the different channels. The couplings basically reflect the value of the wave functions around the origin in coordinate space. In the concrete case of the X(3872) resonance, understood as a bound state of $\ddn$ and $\ddc$ (and $c.c.$), with the $\ddn$ loosely bound, we find that the couplings to the two channels are essentially equal leading to a state of good isospin I=0 character. This is in spite of having a probability for finding the $\ddn$ state much larger than for $\ddc$ since the loosely bound channel extends further in space. The analytical results, obtained with exact solutions of the Schrödinger equation for the wave functions, can be useful in general to interpret results found numerically in the study of problems with unitary coupled channels methods.

D mesic nuclei

The energies and widths of several D^0 meson bound states for different nuclei are obtained using a D-meson selfenergy in the nuclear medium, which is evaluated in a selfconsistent manner using techniques of unitarized coupled-channel theory. The kernel of the meson-baryon interaction is based on a model that treats heavy pseudoscalar and heavy vector mesons on equal footing, as required by heavy quark symmetry. We find D^0 bound states in all studied nuclei, from 12C up to 208Pb. The inclusion of vector mesons is the keystone for obtaining an attractive D-nucleus interaction that leads to the existence of D^0-nucleus bound states, as compared to previous studies based on SU(4) flavor symmetry. In some cases, the half widths are smaller than the separation of the levels, what makes possible their experimental observation by means of a nuclear reaction. This can be of particular interest for the future PANDA@FAIR physics program. We also find a D^+ bound state in 12C, but it is too broad and will have a significant overlap with the energies of the continuum.

As in the case of a previous calculation on $b\to c$ semileptonic decays of doubly heavy baryons, we find large corrections to the electromagnetic decay widths due to this mixing. Contrary to the weak case just mentioned, we find here that one can not use electromagnetic width relations obtained in the infinite heavy quark mass limit to experimentally extract information on the admixtures in a model independent way.

Low-lying even parity meson resonances and spin-flavor symmetry

A study is presented of the $s-$wave meson-meson interactions involving members of the $ρ-$nonet and of the $π-$octet. The starting point is an SU(6) spin-flavor extension of the SU(3) flavor Weinberg-Tomozawa Lagrangian. SU(6) symmetry breaking terms are then included to account for the physical meson masses and decay constants, while preserving partial conservation of the axial current in the light pseudoscalar sector. Next, the $T-$matrix amplitudes are obtained by solving the Bethe Salpeter equation in coupled-channel with the kernel built from the above interactions. The poles found on the first and second Riemann sheets of the amplitudes are identified with their possible Particle Data Group (PDG) counterparts. It is shown that most of the low-lying even parity PDG meson resonances, specially in the $J^P=0^+$ and $1^+$ sectors, can be classified according to multiplets of the spin-flavor symmetry group SU(6). The $f_0(1500)$, $f_1(1420)$ and some $0^+(2^{++})$ resonances cannot be accommodated within this SU(6) scheme and thus they would be clear candidates to be glueballs or hybrids. Finally, we predict the existence of five exotic resonances ($I \ge 3/2$ and/or $|Y|=2$) with masses in the range 1.4--1.6 GeV, which would complete the $27_1$, $10_3$, and $10_3^*$ multiplets of SU(3)$\otimes$SU(2).

Wave functions for dynamically generated resonances; the two $Λ(1405)$ and $Λ(1670)$

In this work we develop a formalism to evaluate wave functions in momentum and coordinate space for the resonant states dynamically generated in a unitary coupled channel approach. It also offers a practical way to study three body systems when two of them cluster into a resonance.

Hyperfine mixing in $b\to c$ semileptonic decay of doubly heavy baryons

We qualitatively corroborate the results of W. Roberts and M. Pervin in Int. J. Mod. Phys. However, our predictions for the decay widths of the unmixed states differ from those reported in the work of Roberts and Pervin by a factor of 2, and this discrepancy translates to the mixed case. Neutrino induced coherent pion production

We discuss different parameterizations of the $C_5^A(q^2)$ $NΔ$ axial form factor, fitted to the old Argonne bubble chamber data for pion production by neutrinos, and we use coherent pion production to test their low $q^2$ behavior. We find moderate effects that will be difficult to observe with the accuracy of present experiments. We also discuss the use of the Rein-Sehgal model for low energy coherent pion production. By comparison to a microscopic calculation, we show the weaknesses of some of the approximations in that model that lead to very large cross sections as well as to the wrong shapes for differential ones. Finally we show that models based on the partial conservation of the axial current hypothesis are not fully reliable for differential cross sections that depend on the angle formed by the pion and the incident neutrino.

We solve the three-body problem by means of a variational ansatz made possible by heavy-quark spin symmetry constraints. Our masses are comparable to the ones obtained in relativistic calculations and we get one of the best agreements with lattice data. Our simple wave functions are used to evaluate semileptonic decays of doubly heavy $Ξ, Ξ'(J=1/2)$ and $Ω, Ω'(J=1/2)$ baryons. In the 'heavy' SU(3) limit with m_π=m_K \simeq 500 MeV the s-wave resonances turn into bound states forming two octets plus a singlet representations of the SU(3) group. $η$ bound states in nuclei

The energies and widths of bound states of the $η$ meson in different nuclei are obtained using the results for its selfenergy in a nuclear medium, which is evaluated in a selfconsistent manner using techniques of unitarized chiral perturbation theory. We find bound states in all studied nuclei (from $^{12}{C}$ on) and the half widths obtained are larger than the separation of the levels, what makes the experimental observation of peaks unlikely. We have paid a special attention to the region of nuclei where only the $1s$ state appears and the binding energies are of the order of magnitude of the half width, which would magnify the chances that some broad peak could be observed. This is found in the region of $^{24}{Mg}$ with a binding energy around 12.6 MeV and half width of 16.7 MeV. In heavy nuclei like $^{208}{Pb}$ there are many bound states which would be difficult to disentangle and the deepest state has a binding energy about 21 MeV and half width around 16 MeV. Such an overlapping accumulation of states could be seen as an extension of the continuum of $η$ strength into the bound region in $η$ production experiments.

Deeply bound levels in kaonic atoms

Using a microscopic antikaon-nucleus optical potential recently developed by Ramos and Oset (nucl-th/9906016, in print in Nuclear Physics A) from a chiral model, we calculate strong interaction shifts and widths for $K^-$ atoms. This purely theoretical potential gives an acceptable description of the measured data ($χ^2/{\rm num.data}= 3.8$), though it turns out to be less attractive than what can be inferred from the existing kaon atomic data. We also use a modified potential, obtained by adding to the latter theoretical one a s-wave term which is fitted to known experimental kaonic data ($χ^2/{\rm degree of freedom}= 1.6$), to predict deeply bound $K^-$ atomic levels, not detected yet. This improved potential predicts, in general, states even narrower than those recently reported by Friedman and Gal. (Phys.Let.B459, 1999, 43). This reinforces the idea that these deeply atomic states can be detected and resolved by using suitable nuclear reactions. Besides, we also study $K^-$ and $\bar K^0$ nuclear bound states and compute binding energies and widths, for both species of antikaons, in $^{12}$C, $^{40}$Ca and $^{208}$Pb. Despite of restricting our study only to potentials obtained from best fits to the known kaonic atom data, the dynamics of these nuclear bound states depend dramatically on the particular optical potential used.

Our computation is performed in the quenched approximation to QCD on a 24^3x48 lattice at beta=6.2, using a non-perturbatively O(a)-improved action. The masses of all light valence quarks involved are extrapolated to their physical values.

An Investigation of the Soft Pion Relation in Quenched Lattice QCD

A lattice determination of the form factor and decay constants for the semileptonic decay of heavy pseudoscalar (PS) mesons at zero recoil is presented from which the soft pion relation is satisfied. Chiral extrapolation of the form factor is performed at constant $q^2$. Pole dominance is used to extrapolate the form factor in heavy quark mass. At the B mass, the form factor at zero recoil lies somewhat below the ratio of decay constants; the relation remains satisfied within error.

Form Factors for B -> pi l nu-bar_l and B -> K* gamma Decays on the Lattice

We present a unified method for analysing form factors in B -> pi l nu-bar_l and B -> K* gamma decays. The analysis provides consistency checks on the q^2 and 1/M extrapolations necessary to obtain the physical decay rates. For the first time the q^2 dependence of the form factors is obtained at the B scale. In the B -> pi l nu-bar_l case, we show that pole fits to f^+ may not be consistent with the q^2 behaviour of f^0, leading to a possible factor of two uncertainty in the decay rate and hence in the value of |V_{ub}|^2 deduced from it. For B -> K* gamma, from the combined analysis of form factors T_1 and T_2, we find the hadronisation ratio R_{K^*} of the exclusive B -> K* gamma to the inclusive b -> s gamma rates is of order 35% or 15% for constant and pole-type behaviour of T_2 respectively.
