MesonNet 2014 International Workshop. Mini-proceedings

The MesonNet International Workshop was held in the Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati from September the 29th to October the 1st, 2014, being the concluding meeting of the MesonNet research network within EU HadronPhysics3 project. MesonNet is a research network focused on light meson physics gathering experimentalist and theoreticians from Europe and abroad. An overview of the research projects related to the scope of the network is presented in these mini-proceedings.

Semileptonic Kaon Decay in Staggered Chiral Perturbation Theory

The determination of $\vert V_{us}\vert$ from kaon semileptonic decays requires the value of the form factor $f_+(q^2=0)$, which can be calculated precisely on the lattice. We provide the one-loop partially quenched staggered chiral perturbation theory expressions that may be employed to analyze staggered simulations of $f_+(q^2)$ with three light flavors. We consider both the case of a mixed action, where the valence and sea sectors have different staggered actions, and the standard case where these actions are the same. The momentum transfer $q^2$ of the form factor is allowed to have an arbitrary value. We give results for the generic situation where the $u$, $d$, and $s$ quark masses are all different, $N_f=1+1+1$, and for the isospin limit, $N_f=2+1$. The expression we obtain for $f_+(q^2)$ is independent of the mass of the (valence) spectator quark. In the limit of vanishing lattice spacing, our results reduce to the one-loop continuum partially quenched expression for $f_+(q^2)$, which has not previously been reported in the literature for the $N_f=1+1+1$ case. Our expressions have already been used in staggered lattice analyses of $f_+(0)$, and should prove useful in future calculations as well.

Proceedings of the second International PrimeNet Workshop

These are the proceedings of the second PrimeNet Workshop, held in September 26-28, 2011, at the campus of Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany. This workshop is part of the activities in the project "Study of Strongly Interacting Matter" (acronym HadronPhysics2), which is an integrating activity of the Seventh Framework Program of EU. This HP2 project contains several activities, one of them being the network PrimeNet having the focus on Meson Physics in Low-Energy QCD. This network is created to exchange information on experimental and theoretical ongoing activities on mainly eta and eta-prime physics at different European accelerator facilities and institutes.

The anomalous chiral Lagrangian of order $p^6$

We construct the effective chiral Lagrangian for chiral perturbation theory in the mesonic odd-intrinsic-parity sector at order $p^6$. The Lagrangian contains 24 in principle measurable terms and no contact terms for the general case of $N_f$ light flavours, 23 terms for three and 5 for two flavours. In the two flavour case we need a total of 13 terms if an external singlet vector field is included. We discuss and implement the methods used to reduce to a minimal set. The infinite parts needed for renormalization are calculated and presented as well.

Matching the Heavy Vector Meson Theory

We show how to obtain a ``heavy'' meson effective lagrangian for the case where the number of heavy particles is not conserved. We apply the method in a simple example at tree level and perform then the reduction for the case of vector mesons in Chiral Perturbation Theory in a manifestly chiral invariant fashion. Some examples showing that ``heavy'' meson effective theory also works at the one-loop level are included.

2 and 3-point functions in the ENJL-model

We discuss the extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model as a low energy expansion, all two-point functions and an example of a three-point function to all orders in momenta and quark masses. The model is treated at leading level in $1/N_c$ but otherwise exact. Some comments about the QCD flavour anomaly and Vector Meson Dominance in this class of models is made. Uses epsf.sty and rotate.sty. One postscript figure included at the end.

Radiative Semileptonic Kaon Decays

We evaluate the matrix elements for the radiative kaon decays $K^+ \to l^+ν_lγ$, $l^+ ν_l l'^+ l'^-$ and $K \to πl ν_lγ$ \ ($l,\ l' = e,μ$) to next-to-leading order in chiral perturbation theory. We calculate total rates and rates with several kinematical cuts and confront the results with existing data. Measurements at future kaon facilities will allow for a more detailed comparison between theory and experiment.
