Hausdorff dimension of particularly non-normal numbers in dynamical systems fulfilling the specification property

In this paper, we consider non-normal numbers occurring in dynamical systems fulfilling the specification property. It has been shown that in this case the set of non-normal numbers has measure zero. In the present papers we show that a smaller set, namely the set of particularly non-normal numbers, has full Hausdorff dimension. A particularly non-normal number is a number $x$ such that there exist two digits, one whose limiting frequency in $x$ exists and another one whose limiting frequency in $x$ does not exist.

Differentiability of arithmetic Fourier series arising from Eisenstein series

Let $k$ be even. We consider two series $F_k(x)= \sum_{n=1}^\infty \frac{σ_{k-1}(n)}{n^{k+1}} \sin(2πn x)$ and $G_k(x)= \sum_{n=1}^\infty \frac{σ_{k-1}(n)}{n^{k+1}} \cos(2πn x)$, where $σ_{k-1}$ is the divisor function. They converge on $\mathbb{R}$ to continuous functions. In this paper, we examine the differentiability of $F_k$ and $G_k$. These functions are related to Eisenstein series and their (quasi-)modular properties allow us to apply the method proposed by Itatsu in 1981 in the study of the Riemann series. We focus on the case $k=2$ and we show that the sine series exhibits different behaviour with respect to differentiability than the cosine series. We prove that the differentiability of $F_2$ at an irrational $x$ is related to the fine diophantine properties of $x$. We estimate the modulus of continuity of $F_2$. We formulate a conjecture concerning differentiability of $F_k$ and $G_k$ for any $k$ even.

Hölder regularity of arithmetic Fourier series arising from modular forms

Given a modular form which is not a cusp form $M_k(z)=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}r_ne^{2πinz}$ of weight $k \geq 4$, we define the series $M_{k,s}(x)=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\frac{r_n}{n^s}\sin(2πnx),$ which converges for all $x\in\mathbb{R}$ when $s>k$. In this paper, we compute the Hölder regularity exponent of $M_{k,s}$ at irrational points. In our analysis we apply wavelets methods proposed by Jaffard in 1996 in the study of the Riemann series. We find that the Hölder regularity exponent at a point $x$ is related to the fine diophantine properties of $x$, in a very precise way.

Non-normal numbers in dynamical systems fulfilling the specification property

In the present paper we want to focus on this dichotomy of the non-normal numbers -- on the one hand they are a set of measure zero and on the other hand they are residual -- for dynamical system fulfilling the specification property. These dynamical systems are motivated by $β$-expansions. We consider the limiting frequencies of digits in the words of the languagse arising from these dynamical systems, and show that not only a typical $x$ in the sense of Baire is non-normal, but also its Cesàro variants diverge.
