On the Fractional fixing number of graphs

An automorphism group of a graph GG is the set of all permutations of the vertex set of GG that preserve adjacency and non adjacency of vertices in a graph. A fixing set of a graph GG is a subset of vertices of GG such that only the trivial automorphism fixes every vertex in SS. Minimum cardinality of a fixing set of GG is called the fixing number of GG. In this article, we define a fractional version of the fixing number of a graph. We formulate the problem of finding the fixing number of a graph as an integer programming problem. It is shown that a relaxation of this problem leads to a linear programming problem and hence to a fractional version of the fixing number of a graph. We also characterize the graphs GG with the fractional fixing number ∣V(G)∣2\frac{|V(G)|}{2} and the fractional fixing number of some families of graphs is also obtained.

On Fixing number of Functigraphs

The fixing number of a graph GG is the order of the smallest subset SS of its vertex set V(G)V(G) such that stabilizer of SS in GG, ΓS(G)Γ_{S}(G) is trivial. Let G1G_{1} and G2G_{2} be disjoint copies of a graph GG, and let g:V(G1)→V(G2)g:V(G_{1})\rightarrow V(G_{2}) be a function. A functigraph FGF_{G} consists of the vertex set V(G1)∪V(G2)V(G_{1})\cup V(G_{2}) and the edge set E(G1)∪E(G2)∪{uv:v=g(u)}E(G_{1})\cup E(G_{2})\cup \{uv:v=g(u)\}. In this paper, we study the behavior of the fixing number in passing from GG to FGF_{G} and find its sharp lower and upper bounds. We also study the fixing number of functigraphs of some well known families of graphs like complete graphs, trees and join graphs.

On the Distinguishing number of Functigraphs

Let G1G_{1} and G2G_{2} be disjoint copies of a graph GG, and let g:V(G1)→V(G2)g:V(G_{1})\rightarrow V(G_{2}) be a function. A functigraph FGF_{G} consists of the vertex set V(G1)∪V(G2)V(G_{1})\cup V(G_{2}) and the edge set E(G1)∪E(G2)∪{uv:g(u)=v}E(G_{1})\cup E(G_{2})\cup \{uv:g(u)=v\}. In this paper, we extend the study of the distinguishing number of a graph to its functigraph. We discuss the behavior of the distinguishing number in passing from GG to FGF_{G} and find its sharp lower and upper bounds. We also discuss the distinguishing number of functigraphs of complete graphs and join graphs.

Minimum Fault-Tolerant, local and strong metric dimension of graphs

In this paper, we consider three similar optimization problems: the fault-tolerant metric dimension problem, the local metric dimension problem and the strong metric dimension problem. These problems have applications in many diverse areas, including network discovery and verification, robot navigation and chemistry, etc. We give integer linear programming formulations of the fault-tolerant metric dimension problem and the local metric dimension problem. Also, we study local metric dimension and strong metric dimension of two convex polytopes SnS_n and UnU_n.

Resolving Share and Topological Index

An atom aa of a molecular graph GG uniquely determines (resolves) a pair (a1,a2)(a_1,a_2) of atoms of GG if the distance between aa and a1a_1 is different from the distance between aa and a2a_2. In this paper, we quantify the involvement of each atom aa of GG in uniquely determining (resolving) a pair (a1,a2)(a_1,a_2) of atoms of GG, which is called the resolving share of aa for the pair (a1,a2)(a_1,a_2). Using this quantity, we define a distance-based topological index of a molecular graph, which reflects the topology of that molecular graph according to the resolvability behavior of each of its atom, and is called the resolving topological index. Then we compute the resolving topological index of several molecular graphs.

Weak total resolving sets in graphs

A set WW of vertices of GG is said to be a weak total resolving set for GG if WW is a resolving set for GG as well as for each w∈Ww\in W, there is at least one element in W−{w}W-\{w\} that resolves ww and vv for every v∈V(G)−Wv\in V(G)- W. Weak total metric dimension of GG is the smallest order of a weak total resolving set for GG. This paper includes the investigation of weak total metric dimension of trees. Also, weak total resolving number of a graph as well as randomly weak total kk-dimensional graphs are defined and studied in this paper. Moreover, some characterizations and realizations regarding weak total resolving number and weak total metric dimension are given.
