Dependence of critical parameters of 2D Ising model on lattice size

For the 2D Ising model, we analyzed dependences of thermodynamic characteristics on number of spins by means of computer simulations. We compared experimental data obtained using the Fisher-Kasteleyn algorithm on a square lattice with $N=l{\times}l$ spins and the asymptotic Onsager solution ($N\to\infty$). We derived empirical expressions for critical parameters as functions of $N$ and generalized the Onsager solution on the case of a finite-size lattice. Our analytical expressions for the free energy and its derivatives (the internal energy, the energy dispersion and the heat capacity) describe accurately the results of computer simulations. We showed that when $N$ increased the heat capacity in the critical point increased as $lnN$. We specified restrictions on the accuracy of the critical temperature due to finite size of our system. Also in the finite-dimensional case, we obtained expressions describing temperature dependences of the magnetization and the correlation length. They are in a good qualitative agreement with the results of computer simulations by means of the dynamic Metropolis Monte Carlo method.

Exponential discretization of weights of neural network connections in pre-trained neural networks

To reduce random access memory (RAM) requirements and to increase speed of recognition algorithms we consider a weight discretization problem for trained neural networks. We show that an exponential discretization is preferable to a linear discretization since it allows one to achieve the same accuracy when the number of bits is 1 or 2 less. The quality of the neural network VGG-16 is already satisfactory (top5 accuracy 69%) in the case of 3 bit exponential discretization. The ResNet50 neural network shows top5 accuracy 84% at 4 bits. Other neural networks perform fairly well at 5 bits (top5 accuracies of Xception, Inception-v3, and MobileNet-v2 top5 were 87%, 90%, and 77%, respectively). At less number of bits, the accuracy decreases rapidly.

Models of Innate Neural Attractors and Their Applications for Neural Information Processing

In this work we reveal and explore a new class of attractor neural networks, based on inborn connections provided by model molecular markers, the molecular marker based attractor neural networks (MMBANN). We have explored conditions for the existence of attractor states, critical relations between their parameters and the spectrum of single neuron models, which can implement the MMBANN. Besides, we describe functional models (perceptron and SOM) which obtain significant advantages, while using MMBANN. In particular, the perceptron based on MMBANN, gets specificity gain in orders of error probabilities values, MMBANN SOM obtains real neurophysiological meaning, the number of possible grandma cells increases 1000- fold with MMBANN. Each set of markers has a metric, which is used to make connections between neurons containing the markers. The resulting neural networks have sets of attractor states, which can serve as finite grids for representation of variables in computations. These grids may show dimensions of d = 0, 1, 2,... We work with static and dynamic attractor neural networks of dimensions d = 0 and d = 1. We also argue that the number of dimensions which can be represented by attractors of activities of neural networks with the number of elements N=104 does not exceed 8.
