Holographic Dual to Conical Defects: I. Moving Massive Particle

We study correlation functions of scalar operators on the boundary of the $AdS_3$ space deformed by moving massive particles in the context of the AdS/CFT duality. To calculate two-point correlation functions we use the geodesic approximation and the renormalized image method. We compare results of the renormalized image method with direct calculations using tracing of winding geodesics around the cone singularities, and show on examples that they are equivalent. We demonstrate that in the geodesic approximation the correlators exhibit a zone structure. This structure substantially depends on the mass and velocity of the particle.

Shock waves in Lifshitz-like spacetimes

We construct shock waves for Lifshitz-like geometries in four- and five-dimensional effective theories as well as in D3-D7 and D4-D6 brane systems. The solutions to the domain wall profile equations are found. Further, the study makes a connection with the implications for the quark-gluon plasma formation in heavy-ion collisions. According to the holographic approach, the multiplicity of particles produced in heavy-ion collisions can be estimated by the area of the trapped surface formed in shock wave collisions. We calculate the areas of trapped surfaces in the geometry of two colliding Lifshitz domain walls. Our estimates show that for five-dimensional cases with certain values of the critical exponent the dependence of multiplicity on the energy of colliding ions is rather close to the experimental data ${\cal M} \sim s^{\,0.15}$ observed at RHIC and LHC.

Fermionic Meixner probability distributions, Lie algebras and quadratic Hamiltonians

We introduce the quadratic Fermi algebra, which is a Lie algebra, and show that the vacuum distributions of the associated Hamiltonians define the fermionic Meixner probability distributions. In order to emphasize the difference with the Bose case, we apply a modification of the method used in the above calculation to obtain a simple and straightforward classification of the 1--dimensional Meixner laws in terms of homogeneous quadratic expressions in the Bose creation and annihilation operators. There is a huge literature of the Meixner laws but this, purely quantum probabilistic, derivation seems to be new. Finally we briefly discuss the possible multi-dimensional extensions of the above results.

Holographic estimation of multiplicity and membranes collision in modified spaces ${AdS}_5$

The quark-gluon plasma formed as a result of heavy-ion collisions is currently investigated actively both theoretically and experimentally. According to the holographic approach, forming a quark-gluon plasma in the four-dimensional world is associated with creating black holes in a five-dimensional anti-de Sitter space. The multiplicity of particles produced in heavy-ion collisions is then determined by the entropy of the five-dimensional black hole, which is estimated by the area of the trapped surface. To fit the experimental data for multiplicity Kiritsis and Taliotis have proposed to consider black holes formation in modified ${AdS}_5$ spaces with different $b$-factors. In this paper we consider the formation of black holes under collision of membranes in modified ${AdS}_5$ spaces with $b$-factors. Following the previous proposals we consider the power-law and exponential $b$-factors, as well as mixed types of $b$-factors. We study dynamics of the change of the trapped surface area depending on the energy for each investigated space. We find that the power-law and mixed factors fit better to the experimental date.

Holographic Thermalization in Quark Confining Background

We study holographic thermalization of a strongly coupled theory inspired by two colliding shock waves in a vacuum confining background. Holographic thermalization means a black hole formation, in fact a trapped surface formation. As a vacuum confining background we considered a well know bottom-up AdS/QCD model that provides the Cornell potential as well as reproduces QCD beta-function. We perturb vacuum background by colliding domain shock waves, that are assumed to be holographically dual to heavy ions collisions. Our main physical assumption is that we can make a restriction on the time of a trapped surface production that makes a natural limitation on the size of the domain where the trapped surface is produced. This limits the intermediate domain where the main part of the entropy is produced. In this domain one can use an intermediate vacuum background as an approximation to the full confining background. In this intermediate background a dependence of the produced entropy on colliding energy is very similar to the experimental dependence of particles multiplicities on colliding ions energy obtained from RHIC and LHC. This permits us to conclude that the entropy produced in collisions of domain shock waves during a short time models rather well the experimental data.

Holography and non-local operators in the BTZ black hole with non-zero angular momentum

We study quark-antiquark potential using the AdS/CFT correspondence in the BTZ black hole with non-zero angular momentum. Using explicit form of string configurations relevant to a calculation of the potential we find that the potential exhibits different dependencies on angular momentum values in the Euclidean and the Lorentzian signatures of the BTZ.

Non-minimally Coupled Cosmological Models with the Higgs-like Potentials and Negative Cosmological Constant

We study dynamics of non-minimally coupled scalar field cosmological models with Higgs-like potentials and a negative cosmological constant. In these models the inflationary stage of the Universe evolution changes into a quasi-cyclic stage of the Universe evolution with oscillation behaviour of the Hubble parameter from positive to negative values. Depending on the initial conditions the Hubble parameter can perform either one or several cycles before to become negative forever.

FRW Cosmology with Non-positively Defined Higgs Potentials

We discuss the classical aspects of dynamics of scalar models with non-positive Higgs potentials in the FRW cosmology. These models appear as effective local models in non-local models related with string field theories. After a suitable field redefinition these models have the form of local Higgs models with a negative extra cosmological term and the total Higgs potential is non-positively defined and has rather small coupling constant. The non-positivity of the potential leads to the fact that on some stage of evolution the expansion mode gives place to the mode of contraction, due to that the stage of reheating is absent. In these models the hard regime of inflation gives place to inflation near the hill top and the area of the slow roll inflation is very small. Meanwhile one can obtain enough e-foldings before the contraction to make the model under consideration admissible to describe inflation.

Holographic phase diagram of quark-gluon plasma formed in heavy-ions collisions

The phase diagram of quark gluon plasma (QGP) formed at a very early stage just after the heavy ion collision is obtained by using a holographic dual model for the heavy ion collision. In this dual model colliding ions are described by the charged shock gravitational waves. Points on the phase diagram correspond to the QGP or hadronic matter with given temperatures and chemical potentials. The phase of QGP in dual terms is related to the case when the collision of shock waves leads to formation of trapped surface. Hadronic matter and other confined states correspond to the absence of trapped surface after collision. Multiplicity of the ion collision process is estimated in the dual language as area of the trapped surface. We show that a non-zero chemical potential reduces the multiplicity. To plot the phase diagram we use two different dual models of colliding ions, the point and the wall shock waves, and find qualitative agreement of the results.

Cosmological Daemon

Classical versions of the Big Bang cosmological models of the universe contain a singularity at the start of time, hence the time variable in the field equations should run over a half-line. Nonlocal string field theory equations with infinite number of derivatives are considered and an important difference between nonlocal operators on the whole real line and on a half-line is pointed out. We use the heat equation method and show that on the half-line in addition to the usual initial data a new arbitrary function (external source) occurs that we call the daemon function. The daemon function governs the evolution of the universe similar to Maxwell`s demon in thermodynamics. The universe and multiverse are open systems interacting with the daemon environment. In the simplest case the nonlocal scalar field reduces to the usual local scalar field coupled with an external source which is discussed in the stochastic approach to inflation. The daemon source can help to get the chaotic inflation scenario with a small scalar field.

Colliding Hadrons as Cosmic Membranes and Possible Signatures of Lost Momentum

We argue that in the TeV-gravity scenario high energy hadrons colliding on the 3-brane embedded in D=4+n-dimensional spacetime, with n dimensions smaller than the hadron size, can be considered as cosmic membranes. In the 5-dimensional case these cosmic membranes produce effects similar to cosmic strings in the 4-dimensional world. We calculate the corrections to the eikonal approximation for the gravitational scattering of partons due to the presence of effective hadron cosmic membranes. Cosmic membranes dominate the momentum lost in the longitudinal direction for colliding particles that opens new channels for particle decays.

On Gauge Equivalence of Tachyon Solutions in Cubic Neveu-Schwarz String Field Theory

Simple analytic solution to cubic Neveu-Schwarz String Field Theory including the $GSO(-)$ sector is presented. This solution is an analog of the Erler-Schnabl solution for bosonic case and one of the authors solution for the pure $GSO(+)$ case. Gauge transformations of the new solution to others known solutions for the $NS$ string tachyon condensation are constructed explicitly. This gauge equivalence manifestly supports the early observed fact that these solutions have the same value of the action density.

Catalysis of Black Holes/Wormholes Formation in High Energy Collisions

We discuss various mechanisms of catalysis of black holes/wormholes (BH/WH) formation in particles collisions. The current paradigm suggests that BH/WH formation in particles collisions will happen when center of mass energies of colliding particles is sufficiently above the Planck scale (the transplanckian region). To estimate the BH/WH production we use the classical geometrical cross section. We confirm the classical geometrical cross section of the BH production reconsidering the process of two transplanckian particles collision in the rest frame of one of incident particles. This consideration permits to use the standard Thorne's hoop conjecture for a matter compressed into a region to prove a variant of the conjecture dealing with a total amount of compressed energy in the case of colliding particles. We calculate geometrical cross sections for different processes and for different background, in particular, for (A)dS. We show that results are in agreement with closed trapped surface (CTS) estimations though there are no general theorems providing that the BH formation follows from CTS's formation. We show that the process of BH formation is catalyzed by the negative cosmological constant and by a particular scalar matter, namely dilaton, while it is relaxed by the positive cosmological constant and at a critical value just turns off. Also we note that the cross section is sensible to the compactification of extra dimensions and to the particular brane model.

Critical Trapped Surfaces Formation in the Collision of Ultrarelativistic Charges in (A)dS

We study the formation of marginally trapped surfaces in the head-on collision of two ultrarelativistic charges in $(A)dS$ space-time. The metric of ultrarelativistic charged particles in $(A)dS$ is obtained by boosting Reissner-Nordström $(A)dS$ space-time to the speed of light. We show that formation of trapped surfaces on the past light cone is only possible when charge is below certain critical - situation similar to the collision of two ultrarelativistic charges in Minkowski space-time. This critical value depends on the energy of colliding particles and the value of a cosmological constant. There is richer structure of critical domains in $dS$ case. In this case already for chargeless particles there is a critical value of the cosmological constant only below which trapped surfaces formation is possible. Appearance of arbitrary small nonzero charge significantly changes the physical picture. Critical effect which has been observed in the neutral case does not take place more. If the value of the charge is not very large solution to the equation on trapped surface exists for any values of cosmological radius and energy density of shock waves. Increasing of the charge leads to decrease of the trapped surface area, and at some critical point the formation of trapped surfaces of the type mentioned above becomes impossible.

Pure Gauge Configurations and Tachyon Solutions to String Field Theories Equations of Motion

In constructions of analytical solutions to open string field theories pure gauge configurations parameterized by wedge states play an essential role. These pure gauge configurations are constructed as perturbation expansions and to guaranty that these configurations are asymptotical solutions to equations of motions one needs to study convergence of the perturbation expansions. We demonstrate that for the large parameter of the perturbation expansion these pure gauge truncated configurations give divergent contributions to the equation of motion on the subspace of the wedge states. We perform this demonstration numerically for the pure gauge configurations related to tachyon solutions for the bosonic and the NS fermionic SFT. By the numerical calculations we also show that the perturbation expansions are cured by adding extra terms. These terms are nothing but the terms necessary to make valued the Sen conjectures.

Cosmic acceleration and crossing of w=-1 barrier in non-local Cubic Superstring Field Theory model

We show that the late time rolling of the Cubic Superstring Field Theory (CSSFT) non-local tachyon in the FRW Universe leads to a cosmic acceleration with a periodic crossing of the w=-1 barrier. An asymptotic solution for the tachyon and Hubble parameter by linearizing the non-local equations of motion is constructed explicitly. For a small Hubble parameter the period of oscillations is a number entirely defined by the parameters of the CSSFT action.

Exactly Solvable SFT Inspired Phantom Model

An exact solution to the Friedmann equations with a string inspired phantom scalar matter field is constructed and the absence of the "Big Rip" singularity is shown explicitly. The notable features of the concerned model are a ghost sign of the kinetic term and a special polynomial form of the effective tachyon potential. The constructed solution is stable with respect to small fluctuations of the initial conditions and special deviations of the form of the potential.

Noncommutative Gauge Fields on Poisson Manifolds

It is shown by Connes, Douglas and Schwarz that gauge theory on noncommutative torus describes compactifications of M-theory to tori with constant background three-form field. This indicates that noncommutative gauge theories on more general manifolds also can be useful in string theory. We discuss a framework to noncommutative quantum gauge theory on Poisson manifolds by using the deformation quantization. The Kontsevich formula for the star product was given originally in terms of the perturbation expansion and it leads to a non-renormalizable quantum field theory. We discuss the nonperturbative path integral formulation of Cattaneo and Felder as a possible approach to construction of noncommutative quantum gauge theory on Poisson manifolds. Some other aspects of classical and quantum noncommutative field theory are also discussed.

Non-extremal Localised Branes and Vacuum Solutions in M-Theory

Non-extremal overlapping p-brane supergravity solutions localised in their relative transverse coordinates are constructed. The construction uses an algebraic method of solving the bosonic equations of motion. It is shown that these non-extremal solutions can be obtained from the extremal solutions by means of the superposition of two deformation functions defined by vacuum solutions of M-theory. Vacuum solutions of M-theory including irrational powers of harmonic functions are discussed.

Large $N$ Matrix Models and $q$-Deformed Quantum Field Theories

Recently it was shown that an asymptotic behaviour of $SU(N)$ gauge theory for large $N$ is described by q-deformed quantum field. The master fields for large N theories satisfy to standard equations of relativistic field theory but fields satisfy $q$-deformed commutation relations with $q=0$. These commutation relations are realized in the Boltzmannian Fock space. The master field for gauge theory does not take values in a finite-dimensional Lie algebra however there is a non-Abelian gauge symmetry. The gauge master field for a subclass of planar diagrams, so called half-planar diagrams, is also considered. A recursive set of master fields summing up a matreoshka of 2-particles reducible planar diagrams is briefly described.

$N$-point amplitudes for d=2 c=1 Discrete States from String Field Theory

Starting from string field theory for 2d gravity coupled to c=1 matter we analyze N-point off-shell tree amplitudes of discrete states. The amplitudes exhibit the pole structure and we use the oscillator representation to extract the residues. The residues are generated by a simple effective action. We show that the effective action can be directly deduced from a string field action in a special transversal-like gauge.

The Master Field for Large $N$ Matrix Models and Quantum Groups

In recent works by Singer, Douglas and Gopakumar and Gross an application of results of Voiculescu from non-commutative probability theory to constructions of the master field for large $N$ matrix field theories have been suggested. In this note we consider interrelations between the master field and quantum groups. We define the master field algebra and observe that it is isomorphic to the algebra of functions on the quantum group $SU_q(2)$ for $q=0$. The master field becomes a central element of the quantum group Hopf algebra. The quantum Haar measure on the $SU_q(2)$ for any $q$ gives the Wigner semicircle distribution for the master field. Coherent states on $SU_q(2)$ become coherent states in the master field theory.

The Master Field for Rainbow Diagrams and Free Non-Commutative Random Variables

The master field for a subclass of planar diagrams, so called rainbow diagrams, for higher dimensional large N theories is considered. An explicit representation for the master field in terms of noncommutative random variables in the modified interaction representation in the Boltzmannian Fock space is given. A natural interaction in the Boltzmannian Fock space is formulated by means of a rational function of the interaction Lagrangian instead of the ordinary exponential function in the standard Fock space.

Planckian Energy Scattering, Colliding Plane Gravitational Waves and Black Hole Creation

In a series of papers Amati, Ciafaloni and Veneziano and 't Hooft conjectured that black holes occur in the collision of two light particles at planckian energies. In this paper we discuss a possible scenario for such a process by using the Chandrasekhar-Ferrari-Xanthopoulos duality between the Kerr black hole solution and colliding plane gravitational waves. We clarify issues arising in the definition of transition amplitude from a quantum state containing only usual matter without black holes to a state containing black holes. Collision of two plane gravitational waves producing a space-time region which is locally isometric to an interior of black hole solution is considered. The phase of the transition amplitude from plane waves to white and black hole is calculated by using the Fabbrichesi, Pettorino, Veneziano and Vilkovisky approach. An alternative extension beyond the horizon in which the space-time again splits into two separating gravitational waves is also discussed. Such a process is interpreted as the scattering of plane gravitational waves through creation of virtual black and white holes.

Coherent States, Dynamics and Semiclassical Limit on Quantum Groups

Coherent states on the quantum group $SU_q(2)$ are defined by using harmonic analysis and representation theory of the algebra of functions on the quantum group. Semiclassical limit $q\rightarrow 1$ is discussed and the crucial role of special states on the quantum algebra in an investigation of the semiclassical limit is emphasized. An approach to $q$-deformation as a $q$-Weyl quantization and a relavence of contact geometry in this context is pointed out. Dynamics on the quantum group parametrized by a real time variable and corresponding to classical rotations is considered.

Divergences of Discrete States Amplitudes and Effective Lagrangian in 2D String Theory

Scattering amplitudes for discrete states in 2D string theory are considered. Pole divergences of tree-level amplitudes are extracted and residues are interpreted as renormalized amplitudes for discrete states. An effective Lagrangian generating renormalized amplitudes for open string is written and corresponding Ward identities are presented. A relation of this Lagrangian with homotopy Lie algebra is discussed.
