On the asymptotic behavior of the colored Jones polynomial of the figure-eight knot associated with a real number

We study the asymptotic behavior of the $N$-dimensional colored Jones polynomial evaluated at $\exp(ξ/N)$ for a real number $ξ$ greater than a certain constant. We prove that, from the asymptotic behavior, we can extract the $\rm{SL}(2;\mathbb{C})$ Chern--Simons invariant and the Reidemeister torsion twisted by the adjoint action both associated with a representation determined by $ξ$.

The colored Jones polynomial, the Chern--Simons invariant, and the Reidemeister torsion of a twice-iterated torus knot

A generalization of the volume conjecture relates the asymptotic behavior of the colored Jones polynomial of a knot to the Chern--Simons invariant and the Reidemeister torsion of the knot complement associated with a representation of the fundamental group to the special linear group of degree two over complex numbers. If the knot is hyperbolic, the representation can be regarded as a deformation of the holonomy representation that determines the complete hyperbolic structure. In this article we study a similar phenomenon when the knot is a twice-iterated torus knot. In this case, the asymptotic expansion of the colored Jones polynomial splits into sums and each summand is related to the Chern--Simons invariant and the Reidemeister torsion associated with a representation.

Root polytopes, parking functions, and the HOMFLY polynomial

We show that for a special alternating link diagram, the following three polynomials are essentially the same: a) the part of the HOMFLY polynomial that corresponds to the leading term in the Alexander polynomial; b) the $h$-vector for a triangulation of the root polytope of the Seifert graph and c) the enumerator of parking functions for the planar dual of the Seifert graph. These observations yield formulas for the maximal $z$-degree part of the HOMFLY polynomial of an arbitrary homogeneous link as well. Our result is part of a program aimed at reading HOMFLY coefficients out of Heegaard Floer homology.

The colored Jones polynomial, the Chern--Simons invariant, and the Reidemeister torsion of the figure-eight knot

We show that from the asymptotic behavior of an evaluation of the colored Jones polynomial of the figure-eight knot we can extract the Chern--Simons invariant and the twisted Reidemeister torsion associated with a representation of the fundamental group of the knot complement to the two-dimensional complex special linear group.

An Introduction to the Volume Conjecture

This is an introduction to the Volume Conjecture and its generalizations for nonexperts. The Volume Conjecture states that a certain limit of the colored Jones polynomial of a knot would give the volume of its complement. If we deform the parameter of the colored Jones polynomial we also conjecture that it would also give the volume and the Chern-Simons invariant of a three-manifold obtained by Dehn surgery determined by the parameter. I start with a definition of the colored Jones polynomial and include elementary examples and short description of elementary hyperbolic geometry.

A version of the volume conjecture

We propose a version of the volume conjecture that would relate a certain limit of the colored Jones polynomials of a knot to the volume function defined by a representation of the fundamental group of the knot complement to the special linear group of degree two over complex numbers. We also confirm the conjecture for the figure-eight knot and torus knots. This version is different from S. Gukov's because of a choice of polarization.
