We compute the Cox rings of the blow-ups BlΔ(X′×X′) and BlΔ(P1n) where X′ is a product of projective spaces and Δ is the (generalised) diagonal.
The spaces of point configurations on the projective line up to the action of SL(2,K) and its maximal torus are canonically compactified by the Grothdieck-Knudsen and Losev-Manin moduli spaces M0,n and Ln respectively. We examine the configuration space up to the action of the maximal unipotent group Ga⊆SL(2,K) and define an analogous compactification. For this we first assign a canonical quotient to the action of a unipotent group on a projective variety. Moreover, we show that similar to M0,n and Ln this quotient arises in a sequence of blow-ups from a product of projective spaces.
We consider torus actions on Mori dream spaces and ask whether the associated Chow quotient is again a Mori dream space and, if so, what does its Cox ring look like. We provide general tools for the study of these problems and give solutions for k*-actions on smooth quadrics.
We show that good quotients of algebraic varieties with finitely generated Cox ring have again finitely generated Cox ring.
