Continuous Choreographies as Limiting Solutions of $N$-body Type Problems with Weak Interaction

We consider the limit $N\to +\infty$ of $N$-body type problems with weak interaction, equal masses and $-σ$-homogeneous potential, $0<σ<1$. We obtain the integro-differential equation that the motions must satisfy, with limit choreographic solutions corresponding to travelling waves of this equation. Such equation is the Euler-Lagrange equation of a corresponding limiting action functional. Our main result is that the circle is the absolute minimizer of the action functional among zero mean (travelling wave) loops of class $H^1$.

Singular mean-filed games

Here, we prove the existence of smooth solutions for mean-field games with a singular mean-field coupling; that is, a coupling in the Hamilton-Jacobi equation of the form $g(m)=-m^{-α}$. We consider stationary and time-dependent settings. The function $g$ is monotone, but it is not bounded from below. With the exception of the logarithmic coupling, this is the first time that MFGs whose coupling is not bounded from below is examined in the literature. This coupling arises in models where agents have a strong preference for low-density regions. Paradoxically, this causes the agents to spread and prevents the creation of solutions with a very-low density. To prove the existence of solutions, we consider an approximate problem for which the existence of smooth solutions is known. Then, we prove new a priori bounds for the solutions that show that $\frac 1 m$ is bounded. Finally, using a limiting argument, we obtain the existence of solutions. The proof in the stationary case relies on a blow-up argument and in the time-dependent case on new bounds for $m^{-1}$.

Time dependent mean-field games in the superquadratic case

We investigate time-dependent mean-field games with superquadratic Hamiltonians and a power dependence on the measure. Such problems pose substantial mathematical challenges as the key techniques used in the subquadratic case do not extend to the superquadratic setting. Because of the superquadratic structure of the Hamiltonian, Lipschitz estimates for the solutions of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation are obtained through a novel set of techniques. These explore the parabolic nature of the problem through the non-linear adjoint method. Well-posedness is proved by combining Lipschitz regularity for the Hamilton-Jacobi equation with polynomial estimates for solutions of the Fokker-Planck equation. Existence of classical solutions can then be proved under conditions depending only on the growth of the Hamiltonian and the dimension. Our results also add to the current understanding of superquadratic Hamilton-Jacobi equations.

Time dependent mean-field games in the subquadratic case

In this paper we consider time-dependent mean-field games with subquadratic Hamiltonians and power-like local dependence on the measure. We establish existence of classical solutions under a certain set of conditions depending on both the growth of the Hamiltonian and the dimension. This is done by combining regularity estimates for the Hamilton-Jacobi equation based on the Gagliardo-Nirenberg interpolation inequality with polynomial estimates for the Fokker-Planck equation. This technique improves substantially the previous results on the regularity of time-dependent mean-field games.

Hyperbolicity and exponential long-time convergence for space-time periodic Hamilton-Jacobi equations

We prove exponential convergence to time-periodic states of the solutions of time-periodic Hamilton-Jacobi equations on the torus, assuming that the Aubry set is the union of a finite number of hyperbolic periodic orbits of the the Euler Lagrange flow. The period of limiting solutions is the least common multiple of the periods of the orbits in the Aubry set. This extends a result that we obtained in the autonomous case.
