Entire Constant Mean Curvature Graphs in $\mathbb{H}^2\times\mathbb{R}$

For $0\leq H< 1/2$, we construct entire $H$-graphs in $\mathbb{H}^2\times\mathbb{R}$ that are parabolic and not invariant by one parameter groups of isometries of $\mathbb{H}^2\times\mathbb{R}$. Their asymptotic boundaries are $(\partial_\infty\mathbb{H}^2)\times\mathbb{R}$; they are dense at infinity. When $H=0$ the examples are minimal graphs constructed by P. Collin and the second author [2].

Area estimates and rigidity of capillary $H-$surfaces in three-manifolds with boundary

We obtain a bound for the area of a capillary $H-$surface in a three-manifold with umbilic boundary and controlled sectional curvature. We then analyze the geometry when this area bound is realized, and obtain rigidity theorems. As a side product, we obtain existence of totally geodesic embedded surfaces in hyperbolic three-manifolds under the assumption of the existence of a $H-$surface realizing the area bound, in particular, under the existence of a totally umbilic $H-$surface.

Degree Theory of Immersed Hypersurfaces

We develop a degree theory for compact immersed hypersurfaces of prescribed $K$-curvature immersed in a compact, orientable Riemannian manifold, where $K$ is any elliptic curvature function. We apply this theory to count the (algebraic) number of immersed hyperspheres in various cases: where $K$ is mean curvature; extrinsic curvature and special Lagrangian curvature, and we show that in all these cases, this number is equal to $-χ(M)$, where $χ(M)$ is the Euler characteristic of $M$.

Minimal graphs over Riemannian surfaces and harmonic diffeomorphisms

We construct a parabolic entire minimal graph $S$ over a finite topology complete Riemannian surface $Σ$ of curvature $-1$ and infinite area (thus of non-parabolic conformal type). The vertical projection of this graph yields a harmonic diffeomorphism from $S$ onto $Σ$. The proof uses the theory of divergence lines to construct minimal graphs. We also generalize a theorem of R. Schoen. Let $g_1$ and $g_2$ be two complete metrics on a orientable surface $S$ with compact boundary and suppose $$\int_{S_r^2}K_{g_2}^-dσ_{g_2}\le C\ln(2+r)$$ for some $C>0$ and all $r>0$. If there is a harmonic diffeomorphism from $(S,g_1)$ to $(S,g_2)$, then $(S,g_1)$ is parabolic.

Minimal surfaces in finite volume non compact hyperbolic $3$-manifolds

We prove there exists a compact embedded minimal surface in a complete finite volume hyperbolic $3$-manifold $\mathcal{N}$. We also obtain a least area, incompressible, properly embedded, finite topology, $2$-sided surface. We prove a properly embedded minimal surface of bounded curvature has finite topology. This determines its asymptotic behavior. Some rigidity theorems are obtained.

On minimal spheres of area $4π$ and rigidity

Let $M$ be a complete Riemannian $3$-manifold with sectional curvatures between $0$ and $1$. A minimal $2$-sphere immersed in $M$ has area at least $4π$. If an embedded minimal sphere has area $4π$, then $M$ is isometric to the unit $3$-sphere or to a quotient of the product of the unit $2$-sphere with $\mathbb{R}$, with the product metric. We also obtain a rigidity theorem for the existence of hyperbolic cusps. Let $M$ be a complete Riemannian $3$-manifold with sectional curvatures bounded above by $-1$. Suppose there is a $2$-torus $T$ embedded in $M$ with mean curvature one. Then the mean convex component of $M$ bounded by $T$ is a hyperbolic cusp;,i.e., it is isometric to $T \times \mathbb{R}$ with the constant curvature $-1$ metric: $e^{-2t}dσ_0^2+dt^2$ with $dσ_0^2$ a flat metric on $T$.

Biharmonic submanifolds with parallel mean curvature in $\mathbb{S}^n\times\mathbb{R}$

We find a Simons type formula for submanifolds with parallel mean curvature vector (pmc submanifolds) in product spaces $M^n(c)\times\mathbb{R}$, where $M^n(c)$ is a space form with constant sectional curvature $c$, and then we use it to prove a gap theorem for the mean curvature of certain complete proper-biharmonic pmc submanifolds, and classify proper-biharmonic pmc surfaces in $\mathbb{S}^n(c)\times\mathbb{R}$.

Periodic constant mean curvature surfaces in H^2 x R

In this paper we study minimal and constant mean curvature (cmc) periodic surfaces in H^2 x R. More precisely, we consider quotients of H^2 x R by discrete groups of isometries generated by horizontal hyperbolic translations f and/or a vertical translation T. In the quotient by the Z^2 subgroup of the isometry group generated by any f and T, we prove an Alexandrov-type theorem for cmc surfaces, i.e., an analysis of compact embedded cmc surfaces in such a quotient. The remainder of the paper is devoted to construct examples of periodic minimal surfaces in H^2 x R.

Half-space theorems and the embedded Calabi-Yau problem in Lie groups

We study the embedded Calabi-Yau problem for complete embedded constant mean curvature surfaces of finite topology or of positive injectivity radius in a simply-connected three-dimensional Lie group X endowed with a left-invariant Riemannian metric. We first prove a half-space theorem for constant mean curvature surfaces. This half-space theorem applies to certain properly immersed constant mean curvature surfaces of X contained in the complements of normal R^2 subgroups F of X. In the case X is a unimodular Lie group, our results imply that every minimal surface in X-F that is properly immersed in X is a left translate of F and that every complete embedded minimal surface of finite topology or of positive injectivity radius in X-F is also a left translate of F.

Half-space theorems for minimal surfaces in Nil_3 and Sol_3

We prove some half-space theorems for minimal surfaces in the Heisenberg group Nil_3 and the Lie group Sol_3 endowed with their left-invariant Riemannian metrics. If S is a properly immersed minimal surface in Nil_3 that lies on one side of some entire minimal graph G, then S is the image of G by a vertical translation. If S is a properly immersed minimal surface in Sol_3 that lies on one side of a special plane, then S is another special plane.

Surfaces with parallel mean curvature in $\mathbb{C}P^n\times\mathbb{R}$ and $\mathbb{C}H^n\times\mathbb{R}$

We consider surfaces with parallel mean curvature vector (pmc surfaces) in $\mathbb{C}P^n\times\mathbb{R}$ and $\mathbb{C}H^n\times\mathbb{R}$, and, more generally, in cosymplectic space forms. We introduce a holomorphic quadratic differential on such surfaces. This is then used in order to show that the anti-invariant pmc $2$-spheres of a $5$-dimensional non-flat cosymplectic space form of product type are actually the embedded rotational spheres $S_H^2\subset\bar M^2\times\mathbb{R}$ of Hsiang and Pedrosa, where $\bar M^2$ is a complete simply-connected surface with constant curvature. When the ambient space is a cosymplectic space form of product type and its dimension is greater than $5$, we prove that an immersed non-minimal non-pseudo-umbilical anti-invariant $2$-sphere lies in a product space $\bar M^4\times\mathbb{R}$, where $\bar M^4$ is a space form. We also provide a reduction of codimension theorem for the pmc surfaces of a non-flat cosymplectic space form.

When strictly locally convex hypersurfaces are embedded

In this paper we will prove Hadamard-Stoker type theorems in the following ambient spaces: $\man ^n \times \r$, where $\man ^n $ is a $1/4-$pinched manifold, and certain Killing submersions, e.g., Berger spheres and Heisenberg spaces. That is, under the condition that the principal curvatures of an immersed hypersurfaces are greater than some non-negative constant (depending on the ambient space), we prove that such a hypersurface is embedded and we also study its topology.
