Data Poisoning Attacks to Deep Learning Based Recommender Systems

Recommender systems play a crucial role in helping users to find their interested information in various web services such as Amazon, YouTube, and Google News. Various recommender systems, ranging from neighborhood-based, association-rule-based, matrix-factorization-based, to deep learning based, have been developed and deployed in industry. Among them, deep learning based recommender systems become increasingly popular due to their superior performance. In this work, we conduct the first systematic study on data poisoning attacks to deep learning based recommender systems. An attacker's goal is to manipulate a recommender system such that the attacker-chosen target items are recommended to many users. To achieve this goal, our attack injects fake users with carefully crafted ratings to a recommender system. Specifically, we formulate our attack as an optimization problem, such that the injected ratings would maximize the number of normal users to whom the target items are recommended. However, it is challenging to solve the optimization problem because it is a non-convex integer programming problem. To address the challenge, we develop multiple techniques to approximately solve the optimization problem. Our experimental results on three real-world datasets, including small and large datasets, show that our attack is effective and outperforms existing attacks. Moreover, we attempt to detect fake users via statistical analysis of the rating patterns of normal and fake users. Our results show that our attack is still effective and outperforms existing attacks even if such a detector is deployed.

Ultrasensitive and broadband MoS2 photodetector driven by ferroelectrics

Photodetectors based on two dimensional materials have attracted growing interest. However, the sensitivity is still unsatisfactory even under high gate voltage. Here we demonstrate a MoS2 photodetector with a poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene) ferroelectric layer in place of the oxide layer in a traditional field effect transistor. The dark current of the photodetector is strongly suppressed by ferroelectric polarization. A high detectivity 2.21012 Jones) and photoresponsitivity (2570 A W) detector has been achieved under ZERO gate bias at a wavelength of 635 nm. Most strikingly, the band gap of few-layer MoS2 can be tuned by the ultra-high electrostatic field from the ferroelectric polarization. With this characteristic, photoresponse wavelengths of the photodetector are extended into the near infrared (0.85-1.55m). A ferroelectrics optoelectronics hybrid structure is an effective way to achieve high performance 2D electronic optoelectronic devices.

Distribution of Entropy of Bardeen Regular Black Hole with Corrected State Density

We consider corrections to all orders in the Planck length on the quantum state density, and calculate the statistical entropy of the scalar field on the background of the Bardeen regular black hole numerically. We obtain the distribution of entropy which is inside the horizon of black hole and the contribution of the vicinity of horizon takes a great part of the whole entropy.

The Gravitational Deflection of Light in F(R)-gravity

The fact that the gravitation could deflect the light trajectory has been confirmed by a large number of observation data, that is consistent with the result calculated by Einstein's gravity. F(R)-gravity is the modification of Einstein's gravity. According to the field equations obtained by the action of the f(R) form, we get a similar Schwarzschild metric. According to the condition that four-dimension momenta of the photon return to zero and that of conservation of covariant momenta, we obtain the equation of motion of the photon in a specific form of f (R)-gravity. We solve the equation to get the gravitational deflection angle of light that grazes the surface of sun and the calculation result is consistent with the experimental observation data.
