Baryon octet and decuplet phenomenology in a three-flavor extended linear sigma model

We present an effective model, which is an extension of the usual linear sigma model, that contains a low energy multiplet for every hadronic particle type. These multiplets are a scalar nonet, a pseudoscalar nonet, a vector nonet, an axialvector nonet, a baryon octet and a baryon decuplet. Tree level baryon masses and possible two body decuplet decays are calculated. The baryon masses are generated through spontaneous symmetry breaking. The calculated quantities are used to determine the model parameters through a multiparametric minimalization process, which compares the calculated physical quantities with their experimental values. We found that the calculated quantities are in good agreement with the experimental data.

Effects of (axial)vector mesons on the chiral phase transition: initial results

We investigate the effects of (axial)vector mesons on the chiral phase transition in the framework of an SU(3), (axial)vector meson extended linear sigma model with additional constituent quarks and Polyakov loops. We determine the parameters of the Lagrangian at zero temperature in a hybrid approach, where we treat the mesons at tree-level, while the constituent quarks at 1-loop level. We assume two nonzero scalar condensates and together with the Polyakov-loop variables we determine their temperature dependence according to the 1-loop level field equations.

Zero temperature properties of mesons and baryons from an extended linear sigma-model

An extended linear sigma model with mesons (q\bar{q} states) and baryons (qqq states) is presented. The model contains a low energy multiplet for every hadronic particle type, namely a scalar, a pseudoscalar, a vector, and an axialvector nonet, an baryon octet and a baryon decuplet. The model parameters are determined through a multiparametric minimalization with the help of well known physical quantities. It is found that the considered zero temperature quantities (masses and decay widths) can be described well at tree-level and are in good agreement with the experimental data.

Meson vacuum phenomenology in a three-flavor linear sigma model with (axial-)vector mesons

We study scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, and axial-vector mesons with non-strange and strange quantum numbers in the framework of a linear sigma model with global chiral $U(N_f)_L \times U(N_f)_R$ symmetry. We perform a global fit of meson masses, decay widths, as well as decay amplitudes. The quality of the fit is, for a hadronic model that does not consider isospin-breaking effects, surprisingly good. We also investigate the question whether the scalar $\bar{q}q$ states lie below or above 1 GeV and find the scalar states above 1 GeV to be preferred as $\bar{q}q$ states. Additionally, we also describe the axial-vector resonances as $\bar{q}q$ states.

Meson vacuum phenomenology in a three-flavor linear sigma model with (axial-)vector mesons: investigation of the U(1)_A anomaly term

Zero temperature properties of an (axial-) vector meson extended linear sigma model are discussed, concerning on the possible different realizations of the axial anomaly term. The different anomaly terms are compared with each other on the basis of a chi^2 minimalization process. It is found that there is no essential difference among the different realizations. This means that any of them can be equally used from phenomenological point of view.
