Effect of dark matter on shadows and rings of a brane-world black hole illuminated by various accretions

In this paper, by taking the accretions into account, the observational shadows and rings casted by the Brane-world black hole are numerically investigated when the observer located at the cosmological horizon. The results here show that the radius $r_p$ of photon sphere increased with cosmological parameter $α$ and dark matter parameter $β$, while the impact parameter $b_p$ decreased with $α$ and increased with $β$. For the thin-disk accretion, it turns out that the total observed intensity are mainly composed of the direct emission, while lensing ring and photon ring only contribute a small contribution and a negligible contribution, respectively. And, we find that shadow and rings exhibit some different and interesting features when the disk located at different positions. For the static and infalling spherical accretions, it is obvious that the size of shadow is always the same for both accretions, which means that shadow is only related to the geometry of space time in this case. The luminosity of shadow and photon sphere are closely related to the Doppler effect and the emissivity per unit volume $j({ν_e})$. In addition, the influence of dark matter and cosmological constant on observed intensity of shadows and rings are carefully emphasized throughout of this paper. Finally, we obtained the burring images of shadows and rings by using the nominal resolution of the Event Horizon Telescope, and studied the upper limits on the X-clod dark matter parameter $β$ with the aid of the data of the shadow of M87.

QED and accretion flow models effect on optical appearance of Euler-Heisenberg black holes

Taking the quantum electrodynamics (QED) effect into account, we investigate the geometrical-optics appearance of the Euler-Heisenberg (EH) black hole (BH) under the different accretion flows context, which depends on the BH space-time structure and different sources of light. The more significant magnetic charge leads to the smaller shadow radius for the EH BH, while the different values of the EH parameter do not ruin it. Different features of the corresponding two-dimensional shadow images are derived for the three optically thin accretion flow models. It is shown that the total observed intensity in the static spherical accretion flow scenario leads than that of the infalling spherical accretion flow under same parameters, but the size and position of the EH BH shadows do not change in both of these accretions flows, implying that the BH shadow size depends on the geometric space-time and the shadows luminosities rely on the accretion flow morphology. Of particular interest is that a thin disk accretion model illuminated the BH, we found that the contribution of the lensing ring to the total observed flux is less than 5\%, and the photon ring is less than 2\%, indicating that the direct emission dominates the optical appearance of the EH BH. It is also believed that the optical appearance of the BH image depends on the accretion disk radiation position in this scenario, which can serve as a probe for the disk structure around the active galactic nucleus (AGN) of M87^{*} like.

Shadow thermodynamics of AdS black hole in regular spacetime

The dependence of the black hole (BH) shadow and thermodynamics may be structured in the regular spacetime. Taking the regular Bardeen-AdS BH as an example, the relationship between the shadow radius and the event horizon radius is derived. It is found that these two radii display a positive correlation, implying that the BH temperature can be rewritten as a function of shadow radius in the regular spacetime. By analyzing the phase transition curves under the shadow context, we found that the shadow radius can replace the event horizon radius to present the BH phase transition process, and the phase transition grade can also be revealed by the shadow radius, indicating that the shadow radius may serve as a probe for the phase structure in the regular spacetime. Utilizing the temperature-shadow radius function, the thermal profile of the Bardeen-AdS BH is established. We obtained that the temperature shows an N-type change trend in P<Pc situation. These results suggest that the phase transition process of the regular AdS BH can be completely presented in the thermal profile, and the relationship between the BH shadow and thermodynamics can also be established in the regular spacetime.

The feature of shadow images and observed luminosity of the Bardeen black hole surrounded by different accretions

In this paper, by exploring the photon motion in the region near the Bardeen black hole, the shadow and observation properties of the black hole surrounded by various accretion models are studied. We analyzed the changes in shadow imaging and observation luminosity when the relevant physical parameters are changed. For the different spherical accretions background, one can find that the radius of shadow and the position of photon sphere do not change, but the observation intensity of shadow in the infalling accretion model is significantly lower than that of the static case. When the black hole is surrounded by an optically and thin disk accretion, the contribution of the photon rings, lensing rings and direct emission to the total observed flux has also been studied. Under the different forms of the emission modes, the result shows that the observed brightness is mainly determined by direct emission, while the lensing rings will provide a small part of the observation flux and the photon ring can provide a negligible observation flux. By comparing our results with the Schwarzschild spacetime, it is found that the existence or change of relevant status parameters will greatly affect the shape and observation intensity of black hole shadow. These results support that the change of state parameter will affect the spacetime structure, thus affecting the observation feature of black hole shadows.

The shadow and photon sphere of the charged black hole in Rastall gravity

Considering a charged black hole (BH) surrounded by a perfect fluid radiation field (PFRF) in Rastall gravity, we investigate this BH shadow and photon sphere on different spherical accretions backgrounds. The effect of the PFRF parameter/BH charge on the critical impact parameter is studied by investigating the light deflection near this BH. The luminosity of these BH shadows in different spherical accretions is obtained, respectively. It is found that the shadow of this BH with infalling spherical accretion is darker than static spherical accretion, and the photon sphere with infalling spherical accretion is brighter than a static one. We creatively investigate the effects of the BH charge/PFRF parameter on the luminosity of BH shadow and photon sphere. The results implying that the BH shadow is a signature of space-time geometry, and the photon sphere luminosity is affected by accretion materials and BH itself.

The shadows and observational appearance of a noncommutative black hole surrounded by various profiles of accretions

The accretion around the black hole plays a pivotal role in the theoretical analysis of black hole shadow, and of the black hole observation in particular. In this paper, we mainly study the shadow and observation characteristics of noncommutative Schwarzschild black holes wrapped by three accretion models, and then explore the influence of noncommutative parameters on the observation appearance and spacetime geometry of black holes. When the black hole is surrounded by an optically and geometrically thin accretion disk, it shows that the direct emissions always dominate the total observed intensity, while the lensing ring superimposed upon the direct emission produces a thin ring, which improves the observation intensity of the black hole image. However, the photon rings makes a negligible contributions to the total observed brightness due to its exponential narrowness, although the photon ring intersects the thin plane more than three times to pick up larger intensity. More importantly, when the noncommutative parameters changed, the corresponding regions and observation intensities of photon ring, lensing ring and direct emission all change correspondingly. For optical thin spherically symmetric accretion, we consider the static and infalling matters, respectively. We find that the observation intensity of the two spherical accretion models increase with the increase of noncommutative parameters. In addition, due to the Doppler effect of the infalling movement, the shadow image of infalling accretion is darker than that of static accretion. In a word, the different accretion models and noncommutative parameters will lead to different shadow images and optical appearances of noncommutative Schwarzschild black holes.

Thermodynamics and weak cosmic censorship conjecture of charged AdS black hole in the Rastall gravity with pressure

Treating the cosmological constant as a dynamical variable, we investigate the thermodynamics and weak cosmic censorship conjecture (WCCC) of a charged AdS black hole (BH) in the Rastall gravity. We determine the energy momentum relation of charged fermion at the horizon of the BH by using the Dirac equation. Based on this relation, we show that the first law of thermodynamics (FLT) still holds as a fermion is absorbed by the BH. However, the entropy of both the extremal and near-extremal BH decreases in the irreversible process, which means that the second law of thermodynamics (SLT) is violated. Furthermore, we verify the validity of the WCCC by the minimum values of the metric function h(r) at its final state. For the extremal charged AdS BH in the Rastall gravity, we find that the WCCC is valid always since the BH is extreme. While for the case of near-extremal BH, we find the WCCC could be violable in the extended phase space (EPS), depending on the value of the parameters of the BH and their variations.

Violations of the weak cosmic censorship conjecture in the higher dimensional $f(R)$ black holes with pressure

We adopt the energy momentum relation of charged particles to study the thermodynamics laws and weak cosmic censorship conjecture of $D$-dimensional $f(R)$ AdS black holes in different phase spaces by considering charged particle absorption. In the normal phase space, it turns out that the laws of thermodynamic and the weak cosmic censorship conjecture are valid. In the extended phase space, though the first law of thermodynamics is valid, the second law of thermodynamics is invalid. More interestingly, the weak cosmic censorship conjecture is shown to be violated only in higher-dimensional near-extremal $f(R)$ AdS black holes. In addition, the magnitudes of the violations for both the second law and weak cosmic censorship conjecture are dependent on the charge $Q$, constant scalar curvature $f'(R_0)$, AdS radius $l$, dimension parameters $p$, and their variations.

The LAMOST Survey of Background Quasars in the Vicinity of the Andromeda and Triangulum Galaxies -- II. Results from the Commissioning Observations and the Pilot Surveys

We present new quasars discovered in the vicinity of the Andromeda and Triangulum galaxies with the LAMOST during the 2010 and 2011 observational seasons. Quasar candidates are selected based on the available SDSS, KPNO 4 m telescope, XSTPS optical, and WISE near infrared photometric data. We present 509 new quasars discovered in a stripe of ~135 sq. deg from M31 to M33 along the Giant Stellar Stream in the 2011 pilot survey datasets, and also 17 new quasars discovered in an area of ~100 sq. deg that covers the central region and the southeastern halo of M31 in the 2010 commissioning datasets. These 526 new quasars have i magnitudes ranging from 15.5 to 20.0, redshifts from 0.1 to 3.2. They represent a significant increase of the number of identified quasars in the vicinity of M31 and M33. There are now 26, 62 and 139 known quasars in this region of the sky with i magnitudes brighter than 17.0, 17.5 and 18.0 respectively, of which 5, 20 and 75 are newly-discovered. These bright quasars provide an invaluable collection with which to probe the kinematics and chemistry of the ISM/IGM in the Local Group of galaxies. A total of 93 quasars are now known with locations within 2.5 deg of M31, of which 73 are newly discovered. Tens of quasars are now known to be located behind the Giant Stellar Stream, and hundreds behind the extended halo and its associated substructures of M31. The much enlarged sample of known quasars in the vicinity of M31 and M33 can potentially be utilized to construct a perfect astrometric reference frame to measure the minute PMs of M31 and M33, along with the PMs of substructures associated with the Local Group of galaxies. Those PMs are some of the most fundamental properties of the Local Group.
