I describe a version of the Gell-Mann--Low scheme which is applicable to the Standard Model. First, I give a procedure for extracting input parameters of the theory from the Green's functions. After that, an iterative procedure of expressing the Green's functions in terms of the above parameters is given.
I define a naturalness criterion formalizing the intuitive notion of naturalness discussed in the literature. After that, using $ϕ^4$ as an example, I demonstrate that a theory may be natural in the $MS$-scheme and, at the same time, unnatural in the Gell-Mann--Low scheme. Finally, I discuss the prospects of using a version of the Gell-Mann--Low scheme in the Standard Model.
The next-to-leading order (NLO) corrections to the BFKL equation in the BLM optimal scale setting are briefly discussed. A striking feature of the BLM approach is rather weak Q^2-dependence of the Pomeron intercept, which might indicate an approximate conformal symmetry of the equation. An application of the NLO BFKL resummation for the virtual gamma-gamma total cross section shows a good agreement with recent L3 data at the CERN LEP2.
We calculate inclusive dijet production cross section in high energy hadron collisions within the BFKL resummation formalism for the QCD Pomeron. We take into account the Pomerons which are adjacent to the hadrons. With these adjacent Pomerons we define a new object - the BFKL structure function of hadron - which enables one to calculate the inclusive dijet production for any rapidity intervals. We present predictions for the dijet K-factor and azimuthal angle decorrelation. Estimations for some NLO BFKL corrections are also given. We derive a relation between four-fermion QED Green functions of different covariant gauges which defines the gauge dependence completely. We use the derived gauge dependence to check the gauge invariance of atom-like bound state calculations. We find that the existing QED procedure does not provide gauge invariant binding energies. A way to a corrected gauge invariant procedure is pointed out.
