Spectral properties of reduced fermionic density operators and parity superselection rule

We consider pure fermionic states with a varying number of quasiparticles and analyze two types of reduced density operators: one is obtained via tracing out modes, the other is obtained via tracing out particles. We demonstrate that spectra of mode-reduced states are not identical in general and fully characterize pure states with equispectral mode-reduced states. Such states are related via local unitary operations with states satisfying the parity superselection rule. Thus, valid purifications for fermionic density operators are found. To get particle-reduced operators for a general system, we introduce the operation $Φ(\varrho) = \sum_i a_i \varrho a_i^†$. We conjecture that spectra of $Φ^p(\varrho)$ and conventional $p$-particle reduced density matrix $\varrho_p$ coincide. Nontrivial generalized Pauli constraints are derived for states satisfying the parity superselection rule.

On the structutre of the algebra generated by the non-commutative operator graph demonstrating superactivation for a zero-error capacity

Recently M.E. Shirokov introduced the non-commutative operator graph depending on the complex parameter $θ$ to construct channels with positive quantum zero-error capacity having vanishing n-shot capacity. We study the algebraic structure of this graph. The relations for the algebra generated by the graph are derived. In the limiting case $θ=\pm1$ the graph becomes abelian and degenerates into the direct sum of four one-dimensional irreducible representations of the Klein group.

Estimating the output entropy of a tensor product of two quantum channels

In this paper we find, for a class of bipartite quantum states, a nontrivial lower bound on the entropy gain resulting from the action of a tensor product of identity channel with an arbitrary channel. By means of that we then estimate (from below) the output entropy of the tensor product of dephasing channel with an arbitrary channel. Finally, we provide a characterization of all phase-damping channels resulting as particular cases of dephasing channels.

On calculating the mean values of quantum observables in the optical tomography representation

Given a density operator $\hat ρ$ the optical tomography map defines a one-parameter set of probability distributions $w_{\hat ρ}(X,ϕ),\ ϕ\in [0,2π),$ on the real line allowing to reconstruct $\hat ρ$. We introduce a dual map from the special class $\mathcal A$ of quantum observables $\hat a$ to a special class of generalized functions $a(X,ϕ)$ such that the mean value $<\hat a>_{\hat ρ} =Tr(\hat ρ\hat a)$ is given by the formula $<\hat a>_{\hat ρ}= \int \limits_{0}^{2π}\int \limits_{-\infty}^{+\infty}w_{\hat ρ}(X,ϕ)a(X,ϕ)dXdϕ$. The class $\mathcal A$ includes all the symmetrized polynomials of canonical variables $\hat q$ and $\hat p$.
