Asymptotic Behaviour of Pion--Pion Total Cross-Sections

We derive a sum rule which shows that the Froissart-Martin bound for the asymptotic behaviour of the ππππ total cross sections at high energies, if modulated by the Lukaszuk-Martin coefficient of the leading log⁡2s\log^2 s behaviour, cannot be an optimal bound in QCD. We next compute the total cross sections for π+π−π^+ π^-, π±π0π^{\pm} π^0 and π0π0π^0 π^0 scattering within the framework of the constituent chiral quark model (CχχQM) in the limit of a large number of colours $\Nc$ and discuss their asymptotic behaviours. The same ππππ cross sections are also discussed within the general framework of Large-\Nc~QCD and we show that it is possible to make an Ansatz for the isospin I=1I=1 and I=0I=0 spectrum which satisfy the Froissart-Martin bound with coefficients which, contrary to the Lukaszuk-Martin coefficient, are not singular in the chiral limit and have the correct Large-\Nc~counting. We finally propose a simple phenomenological model which matches the low energy behaviours of the σπ±π0total(s)σ_{π^{\pm}π^0}^{\rm total}(s) cross section predicted by the CχχQM with the high energy behaviour predicted by the Large-$\Nc$ Ansatz. The magnitude of these cross sections at very high energies is of the order of those observed for the pppp and ppˉp{\bar p} scattering total cross sections.

Epsilon expansion of Appell and Kampé de Fériet functions

The decomposition in partial fractions of the quotient of Pochhammer symbols improves considerably a method, suggested in a precedent paper, which allows one to obtain the ε\varepsilon-expansion of functions of the hypergeometric class. The procedure is applied to several Appell and Kampé de Fériet functions considered in the literature. Explicit expressions and interesting properties of the derivatives of the Pochhammer and reciprocal Pochhammer symbols, which are essential elements in the procedure, are given in an appendix.

Standard Model and New Physics contributions to KLK_L and KSK_S into four leptons

We study the KLK_L and KSK_S decays into four leptons (eeˉeeˉ, μμˉμμˉ, eeˉμμˉe\bar{e}e\bar{e}, \, μ\barμμ\barμ,\, e\bar{e}μ\barμ) where we use a form factor motivated by vector meson dominance, and show the dependence of the branching ratios and spectra from the slopes. A precise determination of short distance contribution to KL→μμK_L\to μμ is affected by our ignorance on the sign of the amplitude A(KL→γγ)\mathcal{A}(K_L\to γγ) but we show a possibility to measure the sign of this amplitude by studying KLK_L and KSK_S decays in four leptons. We also investigate the effect of New Physics contributions for these decays.

N_f=2 chiral dynamics in the mixed chiral regime

We present a study of the pseudoscalar propagator in the mixed chiral regime with valence quark masses in the ε-regime and sea quark masses in the p-regime. We first show the NNLO prediction of this observable in the chiral expansion. In sectors of fixed topology, the correlator has a pole in 1/m_v^2 that can be matched to the topological zero-mode contributions to the correlator. We compute the residue of this pole in a N_f=2 mixed-action simulation and compare the results with the prediction in Chiral Perturbation Theory.
