The Pentagram map on Grassmannians

In this paper we define a generalization of the pentagram map to a map on twisted polygons in the Grassmannian space Gr(n;mn). We define invariants of Grassmannian twisted polygons under the natural action of SL(nm), invariants that define coordinates in the moduli space of twisted polygons. We then prove that when written in terms of the moduli space coordinates, the pentagram map is preserved by a certain scaling. The scaling is then used to construct a Lax representation for the map that can be used for integration.

Integrable Flows for Starlike Curves in Centroaffine Space

We construct integrable hierarchies of flows for curves in centroaffine ${\mathbb R}^3$ through a natural pre-symplectic structure on the space of closed unparametrized starlike curves. We show that the induced evolution equations for the differential invariants are closely connected with the Boussinesq hierarchy, and prove that the restricted hierarchy of flows on curves that project to conics in ${\mathbb{RP}}^2$ induces the Kaup-Kuperschmidt hierarchy at the curvature level.

On generalizations of the pentagram map: discretizations of AGD flows

In this paper we investigate discretizations of AGD flows whose projective realizations are defined by intersecting different types of subspaces in $\RP^m$. These maps are natural candidates to generalize the pentagram map, itself defined as the intersection of consecutive shortest diagonals of a convex polygon, and a completely integrable discretization of the Boussinesq equation. We conjecture that the $k$-AGD flow in $m$ dimensions can be discretized using one $k-1$ subspace and $k-1$ different $m-1$-dimensional subspaces of $\RP^m$.

Remarks on KdV-type Flows on Star-Shaped Curves

We study the relation between the centro-affine geometry of star-shaped planar curves and the projective geometry of parametrized maps into $\RP^1$. We show that projectivization induces a map between differential invariants and a bi-Poisson map between Hamiltonian structures. We also show that a Hamiltonian evolution equation for closed star-shaped planar curves, discovered by Pinkall, has the Schwarzian KdV equation as its projectivization. (For both flows, the curvature evolves by the KdV equation.) Using algebro-geometric methods and the relation of group-based moving frames to AKNS-type representations, we construct examples of closed solutions of Pinkall's flow associated with periodic finite-gap KdV potentials.
