CMC hypersurfaces with bounded Morse index

We develop a bubble-compactness theory for embedded CMC hypersurfaces with bounded index and area inside closed Riemannian manifolds in low dimensions. In particular we show that convergence always occurs with multiplicity one, which implies that the minimal blow-ups (bubbles) are all catenoids. We also provide bounds on the area of separating CMC surfaces of bounded (Morse) index and use this, together with the previous results, to bound their genus.

Limit lamination theorems for H-surfaces

In this paper we prove some general results on constant mean curvature lamination limits of certain sequences of compact surfaces $M_n$ embedded in $\mathbb R^3$ with constant mean curvature $H_n$ and fixed finite genus, when the boundaries of these surfaces tend to infinity. Two of these theorems generalize to the non-zero constant mean curvature case, similar structure theorems by Colding and Minicozzi in~[6,8] for limits of sequences of minimal surfaces of fixed finite genus.

Topological Type of Limit Laminations of Embedded Minimal Disks

We consider two natural classes of minimal laminations in three-manifolds. Both classes may be thought of as limits - in different senses - of embedded minimal disks. In both cases, we prove that, under a natural geometric assumption on the three-manifold, the leaves of these laminations are topologically either disks, annuli or Moebius bands. This answers a question posed by Hoffman and White.

Triply periodic constant mean curvature surfaces

Given a closed flat 3-torus $N$, for each $H>0$ and each non-negative integer $g$, we obtain area estimates for closed surfaces with genus $g$ and constant mean curvature $H$ embedded in $N$. This result contrasts with the theorem of Traizet [33], who proved that every flat 3-torus admits for every positive integer $g$ with $g\neq 2$, connected closed embedded minimal surfaces of genus $g$ with arbitrarily large area.

Limit lamination theorem for H-disks

In this paper we prove a theorem concerning lamination limits of sequences of compact disks $M_n$ embedded in $\mathbb{R}^3$ with constant mean curvature $H_n$, when the boundaries of these disks tend to infinity. This theorem generalizes to the non-zero constant mean curvature case Theorem 0.1 by Colding and Minicozzi in [8]. We apply this theorem to prove the existence of a chord arc result for compact disks embedded in $\mathbb{R}^3$ with constant mean curvature; this chord arc result generalizes Theorem 0.5 by Colding and Minicozzi in [9] for minimal disks.

One-sided curvature estimates for H-disks

In this paper we prove an extrinsic one-sided curvature estimate for disks embedded in $\mathbb{R}^3$ with constant mean curvature which is independent of the value of the constant mean curvature. We apply this extrinsic one-sided curvature estimate in [24] to prove to prove a weak chord arc type result for these disks. In Section 4 we apply this weak chord arc result to obtain an intrinsic version of the one-sided curvature estimate for disks embedded in $\mathbb{R}^3$ with constant mean curvature. In a natural sense, these one-sided curvature estimates generalize respectively, the extrinsic and intrinsic one-sided curvature estimates for minimal disks embedded in $\mathbb{R}^3$ given by Colding and Minicozzi in Theorem 0.2 of [8] and in Corollary 0.8 of [9].

$C^{1,α}$-regularity for surfaces with $H$ in $L^p$

In this paper we prove several results on the geometry of surfaces immersed in $\mathbf R^3$ with small or bounded $L^2$ norm of $|A|$. For instance, we prove that if the $L^2$ norm of $|A|$ and the $L^p$ norm of $H$, $p>2$, are sufficiently small, then such a surface is graphical away from its boundary. We also prove that given an embedded disk with bounded $L^2$ norm of $|A|$, not necessarily small, then such a disk is graphical away from its boundary, provided that the $L^p$ norm of $H$ is sufficiently small, $p>2$. These results are related to previous work of Schoen-Simon and Colding-Minicozzi.

Non-proper complete minimal surfaces embedded in H^2 x R

Examples of complete minimal surfaces properly embedded in H^2 x R have been extensively studied and the literature contains a plethora of nontrivial ones. In this paper we construct a large class of examples of complete minimal surfaces embedded in H^2 x R, not necessarily proper, which are invariant by a vertical translation or by a hyperbolic or parabolic screw motion. In particular, we construct a large family of non-proper complete minimal disks embedded in H^2 x R invariant by a vertical translation and a hyperbolic screw motion and whose importance is twofold. They have finite total curvature in the quotient of H^2 x R by the isometry, thus highlighting a different behaviour from minimal surfaces embedded in R^3 satisfying the same properties. And they show that the Calabi-Yau conjectures do not hold for embedded minimal surfaces in H^2 x R.

Curvature estimates for surfaces with bounded mean curvature

Estimates for the norm of the second fundamental form, $|A|$, play a crucial role in studying the geometry of surfaces. In fact, when $|A|$ is bounded the surface cannot bend too sharply. In this paper we prove that for an embedded geodesic disk with bounded $L^2$ norm of $|A|$, $|A|$ is bounded at interior points, provided that the $W^{1,p}$ norm of its mean curvature is sufficiently small, $p>2$. In doing this we generalize some renowned estimates on $|A|$ for minimal surfaces.
