RGE Behaviour of SUSY with a U(2)^3 symmetry

The first LHC results seem to disfavour, from the point of view of naturalness, any constrained MSSM realization with universal conditions at the SUSY-breaking scale. A more motivated scenario is given by split-family SUSY, in which the first two generations of squarks are heavy, compatible with a U(2)^3 flavour symmetry. We consider this flavour symmetry to be broken at a very high scale and study the consequences at low energies through its RGE evolution. Initial conditions compatible with a split scenario are found, and the preservation of correlations from minimal U(2)^3 breaking are checked. The various chiral operators in $ΔF=2$ processes are analyzed, and we show that, due to LHC gluino bounds, the (LL)(RR) operators can not always be neglected. Finally, we also study a possible extension of the U(2)^3 model compatible with the lepton sector.

B->tau nu in multi-Higgs models with MFV

We analyse the $B \rightarrow τν$ decay in a generic two-Higgs doublet model satisfying the MFV hypothesis. In particular, we analyse under which conditions $\BR(B \rightarrow τν)$ can be substantially enhanced over its SM value, taking into account the constraints of $K \rightarrow μν$, $B \rightarrow X_s γ$, and $B_s \rightarrow μ^+ μ^-$. We find that for large $\tanβ$ values and Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking terms of $\cO(1/\tanβ)$ a sizable ($\sim 50%$) enhancement of $\BR(B \rightarrow τν)$ is possible, even for $m_H \sim 1$ TeV.

Fermion masses and mixing with tri-bimaximal in SO(10) with type-I seesaw

We study a class of models for tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing in SO(10) grand unified SUSY framework. Neutrino masses arise from both type-I and type-II seesaw mechanisms. We use dimension five operators in order to not spoil tri-bimaximal mixing by means of type-I contribution in the neutrino sector. We show that it is possible to fit all fermion masses and mixings including also the recent T2K result as deviation from the tri-bimaximal.

Flavour-Changing Decays of a 125 GeV Higgs-like Particle

The ATLAS and CMS experiments at the LHC have reported the observation of a possible excess of events corresponding to a new particle $h$ with mass $\sim 125$ GeV that might be the long-sought Higgs boson, or something else. Decyphering the nature of this possible signal will require constraining the couplings of the $h$ and measuring them as accurately as possible. Here we analyze the indirect constraints on flavour-changing $h$ decays that are provided by limits on low-energy flavour-changing interactions. We find that indirect limits in the quark sector impose such strong constraints that flavour-changing $h$ decays to quark-antiquark pairs are unlikely to be observable at the LHC. On the other hand, the upper limits on lepton-flavour-changing decays are weaker, and the experimental signatures less challenging. In particular, we find that either ${\mathcal B}(h \to τ\bar μ+ \bar μτ)$ or ${\mathcal B}(h \to τ\bar e + \bar e τ) $ could be ${\cal O}(10)%$, i.e., comparable to ${\mathcal B}(h \to τ^+ τ^-)$ and potentially observable at the LHC.

Neutrino masses and LFV from minimal breaking of U(3)^5 and U(2)^5 flavor symmetries

We analyze neutrino masses and Lepton Flavor Violation (LFV) in charged leptons with a minimal ansatz about the breaking of the U(3)^5 flavor symmetry, consistent with the U(2)^3 breaking pattern of quark Yukawa couplings, in the context of supersymmetry. Neutrino masses are expected to be almost degenerate, close to present bounds from cosmology and $0νββ$ experiments. We also predict $s_{13} \approx s_{23} |V_{td}|/|V_{ts}| \approx 0.16$, in perfect agreement with the recent DayaBay result. For slepton masses below 1 TeV, barring accidental cancellations, we expect $\cB(μ\to e γ) > 10^{-13}$ and $\cB(τ\to μγ) > 10^{-9}$, within the reach of future experimental searches.

Different SO(10) Paths to Fermion Masses and Mixings

Recently SO(10) models with type-II see-saw dominance have been proposed as a promising framework for obtaining Grand Unification theories with approximate Tri-bimaximal (TB) mixing in the neutrino sector. We make a general study of SO(10) models with type-II see-saw dominance and show that an excellent fit can be obtained for fermion masses and mixings, also including the neutrino sector. To make this statement more significant we compare the performance of type-II see-saw dominance models in fitting the fermion masses and mixings with more conventional models which have no built-in TB mixing in the neutrino sector. For a fair comparison the same input data and fitting procedure is adopted for all different theories. We find that the type-II dominance models lead to an excellent fit, comparable with the best among the available models, but the tight structure of this framework implies a significantly larger amount of fine tuning with respect to other approaches.
