Elementary remarks about Pisano periods

In this short note, we reprove in a very elementary way some known facts about Pisano periods as well as some considerations about the link between Pisano periods and the order of roots of the characteristic equation. The technics only requires a small background in ring theory (merely the definition of a commutative ring). The tools set here can be reused for all linear recurrences with quadratic non-constant characteristic equation.

Kleene stars of the plane, polylogarithms and symmetries

We extend the definition and construct several bases for polylogarithms Li T , where T are some series, recognizable by a finite state (multiplicity) automaton of alphabet 4 X = {x 0 , x 1 }. The kernel of this new "polylogarithmic map" Li $\bullet$ is also characterized and provides a rewriting process which terminates to a normal form. We concentrate on algebraic and analytic aspects of this extension allowing index polylogarithms at non positive multi-indices, by rational series and regularize polyzetas at non positive multi-indices.

An interface between physics and number theory

We extend the Hopf algebra description of a simple quantum system given previously, to a more elaborate Hopf algebra, which is rich enough to encompass that related to a description of perturbative quantum field theory (pQFT). This provides a {\em mathematical} route from an algebraic description of non-relativistic, non-field theoretic quantum statistical mechanics to one of relativistic quantum field theory. Such a description necessarily involves treating the algebra of polyzeta functions, extensions of the Riemann Zeta function, since these occur naturally in pQFT. This provides a link between physics, algebra and number theory. As a by-product of this approach, we are led to indicate {\it inter alia} a basis for concluding that the Euler gamma constant $γ$ may be rational.

Combinatorial Deformations of Algebras: Twisting and Perturbations

The framework used to prove the multiplicative law deformation of the algebra of Feynman-Bender diagrams is a \textit{twisted shifted dual law} (in fact, twice). We give here a clear interpretation of its two parameters. The crossing parameter is a deformation of the tensor structure whereas the superposition parameters is a perturbation of the shuffle coproduct of Hoffman type which, in turn, can be interpreted as the diagonal restriction of a superproduct. Here, we systematically detail these constructions.

From Quantum Mechanics to Quantum Field Theory: The Hopf route

We show that the combinatorial numbers known as {\em Bell numbers} are generic in quantum physics. This is because they arise in the procedure known as {\em Normal ordering} of bosons, a procedure which is involved in the evaluation of quantum functions such as the canonical partition function of quantum statistical physics, {\it inter alia}. In fact, we shall show that an evaluation of the non-interacting partition function for a single boson system is identical to integrating the {\em exponential generating function} of the Bell numbers, which is a device for encapsulating a combinatorial sequence in a single function. We then introduce a remarkable equality, the Dobinski relation, and use it to indicate why renormalisation is necessary in even the simplest of perturbation expansions for a partition function. Finally we introduce a global algebraic description of this simple model, giving a Hopf algebra, which provides a starting point for extensions to more complex physical systems.

Ladder Operators and Endomorphisms in Combinatorial Physics

Starting with the Heisenberg-Weyl algebra, fundamental to quantum physics, we first show how the ordering of the non-commuting operators intrinsic to that algebra gives rise to generalizations of the classical Stirling Numbers of Combinatorics. These may be expressed in terms of infinite, but {\em row-finite}, matrices, which may also be considered as endomorphisms of $\C[[x]]$. This leads us to consider endomorphisms in more general spaces, and these in turn may be expressed in terms of generalizations of the ladder-operators familiar in physics.

A multipurpose Hopf deformation of the Algebra of Feynman-like Diagrams

We construct a three parameter deformation of the Hopf algebra $\mathbf{LDIAG}$. This new algebra is a true Hopf deformation which reduces to $\mathbf{LDIAG}$ on one hand and to $\mathbf{MQSym}$ on the other, relating $\mathbf{LDIAG}$ to other Hopf algebras of interest in contemporary physics. Further, its product law reproduces that of the algebra of polyzeta functions.

Congruences Compatible with the Shuffle Product

This article is devoted to the study of monoids which can be endowed with a shuffle product with coefficients in a semiring. We show that, when the multiplicities do not belong to a ring with prime characteristic, such a monoid is a monoid of traces. When the characteristic is prime, we give a decomposition of the congruences $\equiv$ (or relators $R$) such that $A^*/\_\equiv=< A; R>$ admits a shuffle product. This decomposition involves only addition of primitive elements to the successive quotients. To end with, we study the compatibility with Magnus transformation and examine the case of congruences which are homogeneous for some weight function. The existence of such a weight function is also showed for congruences of depth one.

Transitive factorizations of free partially commutative monoids and Lie algebras

Let $\M(A,θ)$ be a free partially commutative monoid. We give here a necessary and sufficient condition on a subalphabet $B\subset A$ such that the right factor of a bisection $\M(A,θ)=\M(B,θ\_B).T$ be also partially commutative free. This extends strictly the (classical) elimination theory on partial commutations and allows to construct new factorizations of $\M(A,θ)$ and associated bases of $L\_K(A,θ)$.

Tables, Memorized Semirings and Applications

We define and construct a new data structure, the tables, this structure generalizes the (finite) $k$-sets sets of Eilenberg \cite{Ei}, it is versatile (one can vary the letters, the words and the coefficients). We derive from this structure a new semiring (with several semiring structures) which can be applied to the needs of automatic processing multi-agents behaviour problems. The purpose of this account/paper is to present also the basic elements of this new structures from a combinatorial point of view. These structures present a bunch of properties. They will be endowed with several laws namely : Sum, Hadamard product, Cauchy product, Fuzzy operations (min, max, complemented product) Two groups of applications are presented. The first group is linked to the process of "forgetting" information in the tables. The second, linked to multi-agent systems, is announced by showing a methodology to manage emergent organization from individual behaviour models.
