Is the remnant of GW190425 a strange quark star?

This study investigates the effects of different QCD models on the structure of strange quark stars (SQS). In these models, the running coupling constant has a finite value in the infrared region of energy. By imposing some constraints on the strange quark matter (SQM) and exploiting the analytic and background perturbation theories, the equations of states for the SQM are obtained. Then, the properties of SQSs in general relativity are evaluated. By using component masses of GW190425 \cite{Abbott2020ApJL} as well as some conversion relations between the baryonic mass and the gravitational mass, the remnant mass of GW190425 is obtained. Our results for the maximum gravitational mass of SQS are then compared with the remnant mass of GW190425. The results indicate that the obtained maximum gravitational masses are comparable to the remnant mass of GW190425. Therefore, it is proposed that the remnant mass of GW190425 might be a SQS.

Nuclear matter calculations with the phenomenological three-nucleon interaction

Employing the concept of three-body radial distribution function and using the two-body correlation functions, calculated based on the lowest order constrained variational method, we investigated the effect of the three-body force (TBF) on the nuclear matter properties, for Argonne and Urbana $\it{v_{14}}$ potentials. As such, the results for nuclear matter density, incompressibility, energy per nucleon, and symmetry energy are presented at the saturation point. The inclusion of a phenomenological TBF resulted in closer values of the saturation density, incompressibility, and symmetry energy to the empirical ones for the symmetric nuclear matter. This is especially the case for the Urbana $\it{v_{14}}$ potential. In addition, an empirically-verified parabolic approximation of the interaction energy was utilized to perform an approximate study of the nuclear matter with neutron excess. Hence, at densities higher than about 0.3~fm$^{-3}$ and for proton-to-neutron density ratios close to the symmetric nuclear matter, the inclusion of TBF resulted in an extra attraction for the Argonne as compared to the Urbana $\it{v_{14}}$ potential.

Structure of magnetized strange quark star in perturbative QCD

We have performed the leading order perturbative calculation to obtain the equation of state (EoS) of the strange quark matter (SQM) at zero temperature under the magnetic field B = 10^18 G. The SQM comprises two massless quark flavors (up and down) and one massive quark flavor(strange). Consequently, we have used the obtained EoS to calculate the maximum gravitational mass and the corresponding radius of the magnetized strange quark star (SQS). We have employed two approaches, including the regular perturbation theory (RPT) and the background perturbation theory (BPT). In RPT the infrared (IR) freezing effect of the coupling constant has not been accounted for, while this effect has been included in BPT. We have obtained the value of the maximum gravitational mass to be more than three times the solar mass. The validity of isotropic structure calculations for SQS has also been investigated. Our results show that the threshold magnetic field from which an anisotropic approach begins to be significant lies in the interval 2*10^18G < B < 3*10^18G. Furthermore, we have computed the redshift, compactness and Buchdahl-Bondi bound of the SQS to show that this compact object cannot be a black hole.

The structure of hybrid neutron star in Einstein-$Λ$ gravity

In this paper, we investigate the structure of neutron stars by considering both the effects of the cosmological constant and the existence of quark matter for neutron stars in Einstein's gravity. For this purpose, we use a suitable equation of state (EoS) which includes a layer of hadronic matter, a mixed phase of quarks and hadrons, and a quark matter in the core. To investigate the effect of the cosmological constant on the structure of hybrid neutron stars, we utilize the modified TOV equation in Einstein-$Λ$ gravity. Then we drive the mass-radius relation for different values of the cosmological constant. Our results show that for small values of the cosmological constant ($Λ$), especially for the cosmological constant from the cosmological perspective $(Λ=10^{-52}$ $m^{-2})$, $Λ$ has no significant effect on the structure of hybrid neutron stars. But for higher values, for example, by considering $Λ>10^{-14}$ $m^{-2}$, this quantity affects the maximum mass and radius of these stars. We find an upper limit for the cosmological constant as $Λ<9\times 10^{-13}m^{-2}$, based on the fact that the gravitational redshift cannot be more than $1$ for stars. The maximum mass and radius of these stars decrease by increasing the cosmological constant $Λ$. Also, by determining and analyzing radius, the compactness, Kretschmann scalar, and gravitational red shift of the hybrid neutron stars with $M=1.4M_{\,\odot }$ in the presence of the cosmological constant, we find that by increasing $Λ$, they are contracted. Also, our results for dynamical stability show that these stars satisfy this condition.

Extraction a Formalism for Fluids with Non-Spherical Molecules based on the Cluster Expansion of the Energy Functional

In this work, based on the cluster expansion of the energy functional, we have extracted a formalism for calculation of the thermodynamic properties of fluids with non-spherical molecules. The salient feature of the extracted formalism is that it has no restrictions on the type of interaction. In fact our formalism can be employed for all types of realistic inter-particle interactions. Here, for the interaction of two anisotropic molecules, we have applied the Gay-Berne potential. Finally, we have applied this formalism to calculate some thermodynamic properties of fluid H_2 which shows some expected results.

Modified TOV in gravity's rainbow: properties of neutron stars and dynamical stability conditions

In this paper, we consider a spherical symmetric metric to extract the hydrostatic equilibrium equation of stars in $(3+1)-$dimensional gravity's rainbow in the presence of cosmological constant. Then, we generalize the hydrostatic equilibrium equation to $d$-dimensions and obtain the hydrostatic equilibrium equation for this gravity. Also, we obtain the maximum mass of neutron star using the modern equations of state of neutron star matter derived from the microscopic calculations. It is notable that, in this paper, we consider the effects of rainbow functions on the diagrams related to the mass-central mass density ($M$-$ρ_{c}$) relation and also the mass-radius ($M$-$R$) relation of neutron star. We also study the effects of rainbow functions on the other properties of neutron star such as the Schwarzschild radius, average density, strength of gravity and gravitational redshift. Then, we apply the cosmological constant to this theory to obtain the diagrams of $M$-$ρ_{c}$ (or $M$-$R$) and other properties of these stars. Next, we investigate the dynamical stability condition for these stars in gravity's rainbow and show that these stars have dynamical stability. We also obtain a relation between mass of neutron stars and Planck mass. In addition, we compare obtained results of this theory with the observational data.

Saturation properties of nuclear matter in the presence of strong magnetic field

Different saturation properties of cold symmetric nuclear matter in the strong magnetic field have been considered. We have seen that for magnetic fields about $B> 3 \times 10 ^ {17}\ G$, {for both cases with and without nucleon anomalous magnetic moments}, the saturation density and saturation energy grow by increasing the magnetic field. It is indicated that the magnetic susceptibility of symmetric nuclear matter becomes negative showing the diamagnetic response especially at $B< 3 \times 10 ^ {17}\ G$. We have found that for the nuclear matter, the magnitude of orbital magnetization reaches the higher values comparing to the spin magnetization. Our results for the incompressibility show that at high enough magnetic fields, i.e. $B> 3 \times 10 ^ {17}\ G$, {the softening of equation of state caused by Landau quantization is overwhelmed by stiffening due to the magnetization of nuclear matter.} We have shown that the effects of strong magnetic field on nuclear matter may affect the constraints on the equation of state of symmetric nuclear matter obtained applying the experimental observable.

Asymmetry energy of nuclear matter: Temperature and density dependence, and validity of semi-empirical formula

In this work, we have done a completely microscopic calculation using a many-body variational method based on the cluster expansion of energy to compute the asymmetry energy of nuclear matter. In our calculations, we have employed the $AV_{18}$ nuclear potential. We have also investigated the temperature and density dependence of asymmetry energy. Our results show that the asymmetry energy of nuclear matter depends on both density and temperature. We have also studied the effects of different terms in the asymmetry energy of nuclear matter. These investigations indicate that at different densities and temperatures, the contribution of parabolic term is very substantial with respect to the other terms. Therefore, we can conclude that the parabolic approximation is a relatively good estimation, and our calculated binding energy of asymmetric nuclear matter is in a relatively good agreement with that of semi-empirical mass formula. However, for the accurate calculations, it is better to consider the effects of other terms.

Dilatonic Equation of Hydrostatic Equilibrium and Neutron Star Structure

In this paper, we present a new hydrostatic equilibrium equation related to dilaton gravity. We consider a spherical symmetric metric to obtain the hydrostatic equilibrium equation of stars in $4$-dimensions, and generalize TOV equation to the case of regarding a dilaton field. Then, we calculate the structure properties of neutron star using our obtained hydrostatic equilibrium equation employing the modern equations of state of neutron star matter derived from microscopic calculations. We show that the maximum mass of neutron star depends on the parameters of dilaton field and cosmological constant. In other words, by setting the parameters of new hydrostatic equilibrium equation, we calculate the maximum mass of neutron star.

Influence of spin polarizability on liquid gas phase transition in the nuclear matter

In this paper, we investigate the liquid gas phase transition for the spin polarized nuclear matter. Applying the lowest order constrained variational (LOCV) method, and using two microscopic potentials, $AV_{18}$ and $UV_{14}$+TNI, we calculate the free energy, equation of state, order parameter, entropy, heat capacity and compressibility to derive the critical properties of spin polarized nuclear matter. Our results indicate that for the spin polarized nuclear matter, the second order phase transition takes place at lower temperatures with respect to the unpolarized one. It is also shown that the critical temperature of our spin polarized nuclear matter with a specific value of spin polarization parameter is in good agreement with the experimental result.

Hot Spin Polarized Strange Quark Stars in the Presence of Magnetic Field using a density dependent bag constant

The effect of magnetic field on the structure properties of hot spin polarized strange quark stars has been investigated. For this purpose, we use the MIT bag model with a density dependent bag constant to calculate the thermodynamic properties of spin polarized strange quark matter such as energy and equation of state. We see that the energy and equation of state of strange quark matter changes significantly in a strong magnetic field. Finally, using our equation of state, we compute the structure of spin polarized strange quark star at different temperatures and magnetic fields.

In this paper, we have calculated the thermodynamic properties of spin polarized strange quark matter at finite temperature in the presence of a strong magnetic field using MIT bag model. We have also computed the equation of state of spin polarized strange quark matter in the presence of strong magnetic field and finally, using this equation of states we have investigated the structure of spin polarized strange quark star at different temperatures and magnetic fields.

The effect of a density dependent bag constant on the structure of hot neutron star with a quark core

As we go from center toward the surface of a neutron star, the state of baryonic matter changes from the de-confined quark-gluon to a mixed phase of quark and hadronic matter, and a thin crust of hadronic matter. For the quark matter, within MIT bag model, the total energy density of the system is the kinetic energy for non-interacting quarks plus a bag constant. In this article first we have considered a density dependent bag constant obtained using the recent experimental results of CERN SPS on the formation of a quark-gluon plasma. For calculations of the hadron phase, we use the lowest order constrained variational method. The equation of state of mixed phase has been determined using Gibbs conditions. Finally, we have calculated the structure of a hot neutron star with quark core employing TOV equation. Our results show that a density dependent bag constant leads to a higher mass and lower radius for the hot neutron star with respect to the case in which we use a fixed bag constant.

Magnetized hot neutron matter: lowest order constrained variational calculations

We have studied the spin polarized hot neutron matter in the presence of strong magnetic field. In this work, using the lowest order constrained variational method at finite temperature and employing $AV_{18}$ nuclear potential, some thermodynamic properties of spin polarized neutron matter such as spin polarization parameter, free energy, equation of state and effective mass have been calculated. It has been shown that the strong magnetic field breaks the symmetry of the free energy, leading to a magnetized equilibrium state. We have found that the equation of state becomes stiffer by increasing both magnetic field and temperature. The magnetic field dependence of effective mass for the spin-up and spin-down neutrons has been investigated.

The effect of dynamical quark mass in the calculation of strange quark star structure

We have discussed dynamical behavior of strange quark matter components, in particular the effects of density dependent quark mass on the equation of state of strange quark matter. Dynamical masses of quarks have been computed within Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model, then we have done the strange quark matter calculations employing the MIT bag model with these dynamical masses. For the sake of comparing dynamical mass interaction with QCD quark-quark interaction, we have considered the one-gluon-exchange term as the effective interaction between quarks for MIT bag model. Our dynamical approach illustrates an improvement for the obtained values of equation of state. We have also investigated the structure of strange quark star using Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equations for all applied models. Our results show that the dynamical mass interaction leads to lower values for the gravitational mass.

In this paper the structure properties of asymmetrical nuclear matter has been calculated employing AV18 potential for different values of proton to neutron ratio. These calculations have been also made for the case of symmetrical nuclear matter with UV14, AV14 and AV18 potentials. In our calculations, we use the lowest order constrained variational (LOCV) method to compute the correlation function of the system.

Computation of the structure of magnetized strange quark star

In this work, we have calculated some properties of the spin polarized strange quark matter (SQM) in a strong magnetic field at zero temperature using the MIT bag model. We have shown that the equation of state of spin polarized SQM is stiffer than that of the unpolarized case. We have also computed the structure properties of the spin polarized strange quark star (SQS) and have found that the presence of magnetic field leads to a more stable SQS compared to the unpolarized SQS.

Finite temperature calculations for the bulk properties of strange star using a many-body approach

We have considered a hot strange star matter, just after the collapse of a supernova, as a composition of strange, up and down quarks to calculate the bulk properties of this system at finite temperature with the density dependent bag constant. To parameterize the density dependent bag constant, we use our results for the lowest order constrained variational (LOCV) calculations of asymmetric nuclear matter. Our calculations for the structure properties of the strange star at different temperatures indicate that its maximum mass decreases by increasing the temperature. We have also compared our results with those of a fixed value of the bag constant. It can be seen that the density dependent bag constant leads to higher values of the maximum mass and radius for the strange star.

Investigation of the field-induced ferromagnetic phase transition in spin polarized neutron matter: a lowest order constrained variational approach

In this paper, the lowest order constrained variational (LOCV) method has been used to investigate the magnetic properties of spin polarized neutron matter in the presence of strong magnetic field at zero temperature employing $AV_{18}$ potential. Our results indicate that a ferromagnetic phase transition is induced by a strong magnetic field with strength greater than $10^{18}\ G$, leading to a partial spin polarization of the neutron matter. It is also shown that the equation of state of neutron matter in the presence of magnetic field is stiffer than the case in absence of magnetic field.

Finite temperature calculations for the spin polarized asymmetric nuclear matter with the LOCV method

The lowest order constrained variational (LOCV) technique has been used to investigate some of the thermodynamic properties of spin polarized hot asymmetric nuclear matter, such as the free energy, symmetry energy, susceptibility and equation of state. We have shown that the symmetry energy of the nuclear matter is substantially sensitive to the value of spin polarization. Our calculations show that the equation of state of the polarized hot asymmetric nuclear matter is stiffer for the higher values of the polarization as well as the isospin asymmetry parameter. Our results for the free energy and susceptibility show that the spontaneous ferromagnetic phase transition cannot occur for hot asymmetric matter.

Maximum Mass of the Hot Neutron Star with the Quark Core

We have considered a hot neutron star with a quark core, a mixed phase of quark-hadron matter, and a hadronic matter crust and have determined the equation of state of the hadronic phase and the quark phase, we have then found the equation of state of the mixed phase under the Gibbs conditions. Finally, we have computed the structure of hot neutron star with the quark core and compared our results with those of the neutron star without the quark core. For the quark matter calculations, we have used the MIT bag model in which the total energy of the system is considered as the kinetic energy of the particles plus a bag constant. For the hadronic matter calculations, we have used the lowest order constrained variational (LOCV) formalism. Our calculations show that the results for the maximum gravitational mass of the hot neutron star with the quark core are substantially different from those of without the quark core.

Computation of Neutron Star Structure Using Modern Equation of State

Using the modern equations of state derived from microscopic calculations, we have calculated the neutron star structure. For the neutron star, we have obtained a minimum mass about $0.1 {\rm M_{\odot}}$ which is nearly independent of the equation of state, and a maximum mass between $1.47 {\rm M_{\odot}}$ and $1.98 {\rm M_{\odot}}$ which is strongly dependent on the equation of state. It is shown that among the equations of state of neutron star matter which we have used, the stiffest one leads to higher maximum mass and radius and lower central density. It is seen that the given maximum mass for the Reid-93 equation of state shows a good consistency with the accurate observations of radio pulsars. We have indicated that the thickness of neutron star crust is very small compared to the predicted neutron star radius.

LOCV calculations for polarized liquid $^3{He}$ with the spin-dependent correlation

We have used the lowest order constrained variational (LOCV) method to calculate some ground state properties of polarized liquid $^{3}He$ at zero temperature with the spin-dependent correlation function employing the Lennard-Jones and Aziz pair potentials. We have seen that the total energy of polarized liquid $^{3}He$ increases by increasing polarization. For all polarizations, it is shown that the total energy in the spin-dependent case is lower than the spin-independent case. We have seen that the difference between the energies of spin-dependent and spin-independent cases decreases by increasing polarization. We have shown that the main contribution of the potential energy comes from the spin-triplet state.
