Motivic Integration on the Hitchin Fibration

We prove that the moduli spaces of twisted $\mathrm{SL}_n$ and $\mathrm{PGL}_n$-Higgs bundles on a smooth projective curve have the same (stringy) class in the Grothendieck ring of rational Chow motives. On the level of Hodge numbers this was conjectured by Hausel and Thaddeus, and recently proven by Groechenig, Ziegler and the second author. To adapt their argument, which relies on p-adic integration, we use a version of motivic integration with values in rational Chow motives and the geometry of Néron models to evaluate such integrals on Hitchin fibers.

Uniform Yomdin-Gromov parametrizations and points of bounded height in valued fields

We prove a uniform version of non-Archimedean Yomdin-Gromov parametrizations in a definable context with algebraic Skolem functions in the residue field. The parametrization result allows us to bound the number of F_q[t]-points of bounded degrees of algebraic varieties, uniformly in the cardinality q of the finite field F_q and the degree, generalizing work by Sedunova for fixed q. We also deduce a uniform non-Archimedean Pila-Wilkie theorem, generalizing work by Cluckers-Comte-Loeser.

Berkovich spaces embed in Euclidean spaces

Let K be a field that is complete with respect to a nonarchimedean absolute value such that K has a countable dense subset. We prove that the Berkovich analytification V^an of any d-dimensional quasi-projective scheme V over K embeds in R^{2d+1}. If, moreover, the value group of K is dense in R_{>0} and V is a curve, then we describe the homeomorphism type of V^an by using the theory of local dendrites.
