Ergodicity and dynamical localization for Delone-Anderson operators

We study the ergodic properties of Delone-Anderson operators, using the framework of randomly coloured Delone sets and Delone dynamical systems. In particular, we show the existence of the integrated density of states and, under some assumptions on the geometric complexity of the underlying Delone sets, we obtain information on the almost-sure spectrum of the family of random operators. We then exploit these results to study the Lifshitz-tail behaviour of the integrated density of states of a Delone-Anderson operator at the bottom of the spectrum. Furthermore, we use Lifshitz-tail estimates as an input for the multi-scale analysis to prove dynamical localization.

Local Wegner and Lifshitz tails estimates for the density of states for continuous random Schrödinger operators

We introduce and prove local Wegner estimates for continuous generalized Anderson Hamiltonians, where the single-site random variables are independent but not necessarily identically distributed. In particular, we get Wegner estimates with a constant that goes to zero as we approach the bottom of the spectrum. As an application, we show that the (differentiated) density of states exhibits the same Lifshitz tails upper bound as the integrated density of states.

A comprehensive proof of localization for continuous Anderson models with singular random potentials

We study continuous Anderson Hamiltonians with non-degenerate single site probability distribution of bounded support, without any regularity condition on the single site probability distribution. We prove the existence of a strong form of localization at the bottom of the spectrum, which includes Anderson localization (pure point spectrum with exponentially decaying eigenfunctions) with finite multiplicity of eigenvalues, dynamical localization (no spreading of wave packets under the time evolution), decay of eigenfunctions correlations, and decay of the Fermi projections. We also prove log-H\" older continuity of the integrated density of states at the bottom of the spectrum.

Spectral statistics for random Schrödinger operators in the localized regime

We study various statistics related to the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of random Hamiltonians in the localized regime. Consider a random Hamiltonian at an energy $E$ in the localized phase. Assume the density of states function is not too flat near $E$. Restrict it to some large cube $Λ$. Consider now $I_Λ$, a small energy interval centered at $E$ that asymptotically contains infintely many eigenvalues when the volume of the cube $Λ$ grows to infinity. We prove that, with probability one in the large volume limit, the eigenvalues of the random Hamiltonian restricted to the cube inside the interval are given by independent identically distributed random variables, up to an error of size an arbitrary power of the volume of the cube. As a consequence, we derive * uniform Poisson behavior of the locally unfolded eigenvalues, * a.s. Poisson behavior of the joint distibutions of the unfolded energies and unfolded localization centers in a large range of scales. * the distribution of the unfolded level spacings, locally and globally, * the distribution of the unfolded localization centers, locally and globally.

Enhanced Wegner and Minami estimates and eigenvalue statistics of random Anderson models at spectral edges

We consider the discrete Anderson model and prove enhanced Wegner and Minami estimates where the interval length is replaced by the IDS computed on the interval. We use these estimates to improve on the description of finite volume eigenvalues and eigenfunctions obtained in a previous paper. As a consequence of the improved description of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions, we revisit a number of results on the spectral statistics in the localized regime and extend their domain of validity, namely : - the local spectral statistics for the unfolded eigenvalues; - the local asymptotic ergodicity of the unfolded eigenvalues; In dimension 1, for the standard Anderson model, the improvement enables us to obtain the local spectral statistics at band edge, that is in the Lifshitz tail regime. In higher dimensions, this works for modified Anderson models.

Dynamical mobility edge for various random Landau Hamiltonians

We review recent results obtained within the framework of the integer quantum Hall effect in the spirit of the work of Germinet, Klein, Schenker in \cite{GKS}. Landau Hamiltonians perturbed by random electric or magnetic perturbations are shown to exhibit a dynamical mobility edge, that is a transition between a regime of dynamical localization and a regime of non trivial transport at a minimal rate. The focus is put on three situations of interest: 1) unbounded ergodic electric potentials, for which Landau gaps are filled; 2) non ergodic electric potentials; 3) random magnetic potentials.

Spectral statistics for the discrete Anderson model in the localized regime

We report on recent results on the spectral statistics of the discrete Anderson model in the localized phase. Our results show, in particular, that, for the discrete Anderson Hamiltonian with smoothly distributed random potential at sufficiently large coupling, the limit of the level spacing distribution is that of i.i.d. random variables distributed according to the density of states of the random Hamiltonian. This text is a contribution to the proceedings of the conference "Spectra of Random Operators and Related Topics" held at Kyoto University, 02-04/12/09 organized by N. Minami and N. Ueki.

Quantization of the Hall conductance and delocalization in ergodic Landau Hamiltonians

We prove quantization of the Hall conductance for continuous ergodic Landau Hamiltonians under a condition on the decay of the Fermi projections. This condition and continuity of the integrated density of states are shown to imply continuity of the Hall conductance. In addition, we prove the existence of delocalization near each Landau level for these two-dimensional Hamiltonians. More precisely, we prove that for some ergodic Landau Hamiltonians there exists an energy $E$ near each Landau level where a ``localization length'' diverges. For the Anderson-Landau Hamiltonian we also obtain a transition between dynamical localization and dynamical delocalization in the Landau bands, with a minimal rate of transport, even in cases when the spectral gaps are closed.

Persistence of Anderson localization in Schrödinger operators with decaying random potentials

We show persistence of both Anderson and dynamical localization in Schrödinger operators with non-positive (attractive) random decaying potential. We consider an Anderson-type Schrödinger operator with a non-positive ergodic random potential, and multiply the random potential by a decaying envelope function. If the envelope function decays slower than $|x|^{-2}$ at infinity, we prove that the operator has infinitely many eigenvalues below zero. For envelopes decaying as $|x|^{-α}$ at infinity, we determine the number of bound states below a given energy $E<0$, asymptotically as $α\downarrow 0$. To show that bound states located at the bottom of the spectrum are related to the phenomenon of Anderson localization in the corresponding ergodic model, we prove: (a) these states are exponentially localized with a localization length that is uniform in the decay exponent $α$; (b)~ dynamical localization holds uniformly in $α$.
