Explicit height bounds for $K$-rational points on transverse curves in powers of elliptic curves

Let $C$ be an algebraic curve embedded transversally in a power $E^N$ of an elliptic curve $E$. In this article we produce a good explicit bound for the height of all the algebraic points on $C$ contained in the union of all proper algebraic subgroups of $E^N$. The method gives a totally explicit version of the Manin-Dam'janenko Theorem in the elliptic case and it is a generalisation of previous results only proved when $E$ does not have Complex Multiplication.

Finiteness and periodicity of continued fractions over quadratic number fields

We consider continued fractions with partial quotients in the ring of integers of a quadratic number field $K$ and we prove a generalization to such continued fractions of the classical theorem of Lagrange. A particular example of these continued fractions is the $β$-continued fraction introduced by Bernat. As a corollary of our theorem we show that for any quadratic Perron number $β$, the $β$-continued fraction expansion of elements in $\mathbb Q(β)$ is either finite of eventually periodic. The same holds for $β$ being a square root of an integer. We also show that for certain 4 quadratic Perron numbers $β$, the $β$-continued fraction represents finitely all elements of the quadratic field $\mathbb Q(β)$, thus answering questions of Rosen and Bernat. Based on the validity of a conjecture of Mercat, these are all quadratic Perron numbers with this feature.

Quadratic integral solutions to double Pell equations

We study the quadratic integral points-that is, (S-)integral points defined over any extension of degree two of the base field-on a curve defined in P_3 by a system of two Pell equations. Such points belong to three families explicitly described, or belong to a finite set whose cardinality may be explicitly bounded in terms of the base field, the equations defining the curve and the set S. We exploit the peculiar geometry of the curve to adapt the proof of a theorem of Vojta, which in this case does not apply.
