Gluing techniques and envelopes of disc functionals on almost complex manifolds

We establish plurisubharmonicity of the envelope of Poisson and Lelong functionals on almost complex manifolds. That is, we generalize the corresponding results for complex manifolds and almost complex manifolds of complex dimension two. We also provide some applications to the regularization of J-plurisubharmonic functions and to the characterization of compact psh-hulls by pseudoholomorphic discs.

Stationary discs for smooth hypersurfaces of finite type and finite jet determination

We construct a finitely dimensional invariant manifold of holomorphic discs attached to a certain class of smooth pseudconvex hypersurfaces of finite type in $\C^2$, generalizing the notion of stationary discs. The discs we construct are determined by a finite jet at a given boundary point and their centers fill an open set. As a consequence, we obtain a finite jet determination result for this class of smooth hypersurfaces.

Stationary holomorphic discs and finite jet determination problems

We construct a family of small analytic discs attached to Levi non-degenerate hypersurfaces in Cn+1\mathbb{C}^{n+1}, which is globally biholomorphically invariant. We then apply this technique to study unique determination problems along Levi non-degenerate hypersurfaces that are merely of class C4\mathcal{C}^4. This method gives 2-jet determination results for germs of biholomorphisms, CR diffeomorphisms, as well as in the almost complex setting.

Dirichlet and Neumann problems for planar domains with parameter

Let Γ(⋅,λ)Γ(\cdot,λ) be smooth, i.e.\, C∞\mathcal C^\infty, embeddings from Ωˉ\barΩ onto Ωλˉ\bar{Ω^λ}, where ΩΩ and ΩλΩ^λ are bounded domains with smooth boundary in the complex plane and λλ varies in I=[0,1]I=[0,1]. Suppose that ΓΓ is smooth on Ωˉ×I\barΩ\times I and ff is a smooth function on ∂Ω×I\partialΩ\times I. Let u(⋅,λ)u(\cdot,λ) be the harmonic functions on ΩλΩ^λ with boundary values f(⋅,λ)f(\cdot,λ). We show that u(Γ(z,λ),λ)u(Γ(z,λ),λ) is smooth on Ωˉ×I\barΩ\times I. Our main result is proved for suitable Hölder spaces for the Dirichlet and Neumann problems with parameter. By observing that the regularity of solutions of the two problems with parameter is not local, we show the existence of smooth embeddings Γ(⋅,λ)Γ(\cdot,λ) from Dˉ\bar{\mathbb D}, the closure of the unit disc, onto Ωλˉ\bar{Ω^λ} such that ΓΓ is smooth on Dˉ×I\bar{\mathbb D}\times I and real analytic at (−1,0)∈Dˉ×I(\sqrt{-1},0)\in\bar{\mathbb D}\times I, but for every family of Riemann mappings R(⋅,λ)R(\cdot,λ) from Ωλˉ\bar{Ω^λ} onto Dˉ\bar{\mathbb D}, the function R(Γ(z,λ),λ)R(Γ(z,λ),λ) is not real analytic at (−1,0)∈Dˉ×I(\sqrt{-1},0)\in\bar{\mathbb D}\times I.

Common boundary values of holomorphic functions for two-sided complex structures

Let Ω1,Ω2Ω_1,Ω_2 be two disjoint open sets in Cn\mathbf C^n whose boundaries share a smooth real hypersurface MM as relatively open subsets. Assume that ΩiΩ_i is equipped with a complex structure JiJ^i which is smooth up to MM. Assume that the operator norm ∥J2−J1∥<2\|J^2-J^1\|<2 on MM. Let ff be a continuous function on the union of Ω1,Ω2,MΩ_1,Ω_2, M. If ff is holomorphic with respect to both structures in the open sets, then ff must be smooth on the union of Ω1Ω_1 with MM. Although the result as stated is far more meaningful for integrable structures, our methods make it much more natural to deal with the general almost complex structures without the integrability condition. The result is therefore proved in the framework of almost complex structures.

Sharp estimates of the Kobayashi metric and Gromov hyperbolicity

Let D be a smooth relatively compact and strictly J-pseudoconvex domain in a four dimensional almost complex manifold (M,J). We give sharp estimates of the Kobayashi metric. Our approach is based on an asymptotic quantitative description of both the domain D and the almost complex structure J near a boundary point. Following Z.M.Balogh and M.Bonk, these sharp estimates provide the Gromov hyperbolicity of the domain D.
