Automorphic Forms and Fermion Masses

We extend the framework of modular invariant supersymmetric theories to encompass invariance under more general discrete groups $Γ$, that allow the presence of several moduli and make connection with the theory of automorphic forms. Moduli span a coset space $G/K$, where $G$ is a Lie group and $K$ is a compact subgroup of $G$, modded out by $Γ$. For a general choice of $G$, $K$, $Γ$ and a generic matter content, we explicitly construct a minimal Kähler potential and a general superpotential, for both rigid and local $N=1$ supersymmetric theories. We also specialize our construction to the case $G=Sp(2g,R)$, $K=U(g)$ and $Γ=Sp(2g,Z)$, whose automorphic forms are Siegel modular forms. We show how our general theory can be consistently restricted to multi-dimensional regions of the moduli space enjoying residual symmetries. After choosing $g=2$, we present several examples of models for lepton and quark masses where Yukawa couplings are Siegel modular forms of level 2.

Testing Moduli and Flavon Dynamics with Neutrino Oscillations

We study scalar Non-Standard Neutrino Interactions (NSI) induced by moduli or flavon exchange between electrons and neutrinos. In a region with non-vanishing electron number density, they are known to determine a shift of the neutrino mass matrix. We review and extend the relevant formalism, and we update the existing limits on electron and neutrino scalar couplings. We explore the observability of scalar NSI in models of lepton masses based on flavour symmetries. We analyze models where the scalar couplings are constrained either by abelian symmetries or by modular invariance. We highlight regions of the parameter space where observable effects can occur.

Modular Invariant Models of Lepton Masses at Levels 4 and 5

We explore alternative descriptions of the charged lepton sector in modular invariant models of lepton masses and mixing angles. In addition to the modulus, the symmetry breaking sector of our models includes ordinary flavons. Neutrino mass terms depend only on the modulus and are tailored to minimize the number of free parameters. The charged lepton Yukawa couplings rely upon the flavons alone. We build modular invariant models at levels 4 and 5, where neutrino masses are described both in terms of the Weinberg operator or through a type I seesaw mechanism. At level 4, our models reproduce the hierarchy among electron, muon and tau masses by letting the weights play the role of Froggatt-Nielsen charges. At level 5, our setup allows the treatment of left and right handed charged leptons on the same footing. We have optimized the free parameters of our models in order to match the experimental data, obtaining a good degree of compatibility and predictions for the absolute neutrino masses and the $CP$ violating phases. At a more fundamental level, the whole lepton sector could be correctly described by the simultaneous presence of several moduli. Our examples are meant to make a first step in this direction.

The minimal linear sigma model for the Goldstone Higgs

In the context of the minimal SO(5) linear σ-model, a complete renormalizable Lagrangian -including gauge bosons and fermions- is considered, with the symmetry softly broken to SO(4). The scalar sector describes both the electroweak Higgs doublet and the singlet σ. Varying the σ mass would allow to sweep from the regime of perturbative ultraviolet completion to the non-linear one assumed in models in which the Higgs particle is a low-energy remnant of some strong dynamics. We analyze the phenomenological implications and constraints from precision observables and LHC data. Furthermore, we derive the d <= 6 effective Lagrangian in the limit of heavy exotic fermions.

A realistic pattern of fermion masses from a five-dimensional SO(10) model

We provide a unified description of fermion masses and mixing angles in the framework of a supersymmetric grand unified SO(10) model with anarchic Yukawa couplings of order unity. The space-time is five dimensional and the extra flat spatial dimension is compactified on the orbifold $S^1/(Z_2 \times Z_2')$, leading to Pati-Salam gauge symmetry on the boundary where Yukawa interactions are localised. The gauge symmetry breaking is completed by means of a rather economic scalar sector, avoiding the doublet-triplet splitting problem. The matter fields live in the bulk and their massless modes get exponential profiles, which naturally explain the mass hierarchy of the different fermion generations. Quarks and leptons properties are naturally reproduced by a mechanism, first proposed by Kitano and Li, that lifts the SO(10) degeneracy of bulk masses in terms of a single parameter. The model provides a realistic pattern of fermion masses and mixing angles for large values of $\tanβ$. It favours normally ordered neutrino mass spectrum with the lightest neutrino mass below 0.01 eV and no preference for leptonic CP violating phases. The right handed neutrino mass spectrum is very hierarchical and does not allow for thermal leptogenesis. We analyse several variants of the basic framework and find that the results concerning the fermion spectrum are remarkably stable.

Lepton Flavour Violation in Composite Higgs Models

We discuss in detail the constraints on partial compositeness coming from flavour and CP violation in the leptonic sector. In a first part we present a formulation of partial compositeness in terms of a flavour symmetry group and a set of spurions, whose background values specify the symmetry breaking pattern. In such a framework we construct the complete set of dimension-six operators describing lepton flavour violation and CP violation. By exploiting the existing bounds, we derive limits on the compositeness scale in different scenarios, characterised by increasing restrictions on the spurion properties. We confirm that in the most general case the compositeness scale should lie well-above 10 TeV. However, if in the composite sector mass parameters and Yukawa couplings are universal, such a bound can be significantly lowered, without necessarily reproducing the case of minimal flavour violation. The most sensitive processes are decays of charged leptons either of radiative type or into three charged leptons, muon to electron conversion in nuclei and the electric dipole moment of the electron. In a second part we explicitly compute the Wilson coefficients of the relevant dimension-six operators in the so-called two-site model, embodying the symmetry breaking pattern discussed in our first part, and we compare the results with those of the general spurion analysis.

Theoretical Aspects of Flavour and CP Violation in the Lepton Sector

We review flavour and CP violations in the lepton sector as probes of new physics beyond the standard model and its minimal extensions accommodating massive neutrinos. After recalling the main experimental bounds and the future perspectives, we summarize the limits on a set of dimension-six gauge-invariant operators, pointing to a scale of new physics much larger than the electroweak scale. If we insist on having new physics at the TeV scale, as demanded by most of the standard model extensions addressing the gauge hierarchy problem, we should rely on special mechanisms to deplete flavour and CP violations in the charged lepton sector. We comment on the capability of partial compositeness in reconciling the absence of signals with a scale of new physics accessible to the LHC.

A Realistic Pattern of Lepton Mixing and Masses from S4 and CP

We present a supersymmetric model with the flavour symmetry S4 x Z3 and a CP symmetry which are broken to a Z3 subgroup of the flavour symmetry in the charged lepton sector and to Z2 x CP (x Z3) in the neutrino one at leading order. This model implements an approach, capable of predicting lepton mixing angles and Dirac as well as Majorana phases in terms of one free parameter. This parameter, directly related to the size of the reactor mixing angle theta_{13}, can be naturally of the correct order in our model. Atmospheric mixing is maximal, while sin^2 theta_{12} is larger than 1/3. All three phases are predicted: the Dirac phase is maximal, whereas the two Majorana phases are trivial. The neutrino mass matrix contains only three real parameters at leading order and neutrino masses effectively only depend on two of them. As a consequence, they have to be normally ordered and the absolute neutrino mass scale and the sum of the neutrino masses are predicted. The vacuum of the flavons can be correctly aligned. We study subleading corrections to the leading order results and show that they are small.

Order and Anarchy hand in hand in 5D SO(10)

We update a five-dimensional SO(10) grand unified model of fermion masses and mixing angles originally proposed by Kitano and Li. In our setup Yukawa couplings are anarchical and quark and lepton sectors are diversified by the profiles of the fermion zero modes in the extra dimension. The breaking of SO(10) down to SU(5) \times U(1)_X provides the key parameter that distinguishes the profiles of the different SU(5) components inside the same 16 representation. With respect to the original version of the model, we extend the Higgs sector to explicitly solve the doublet-triplet splitting problem through the missing partner mechanism and we perform a fit to an idealized set of data. By scanning the Yukawa couplings of the model we find that, for large tanβ, both normal and inverted ordered neutrino spectrum can be accommodated. However, while the case of inverted order requires a severe fine tuning of the Yukawa parameters, the normal ordering is compatible with an anarchical distribution of Yukawa couplings. Thus, in a natural portion of the parameter space, the model predicts a normal ordered neutrino spectrum, the lightest neutrino mass below 5 meV, and |m_{ββ}| in the range 0.1-5 meV. No particular preference is found for the Dirac CP phase in the lepton sector while the right-handed neutrino masses are too small to explain the baryon asymmetry of the universe through thermal leptogenesis.

Discrete Flavour Groups, θ_13 and Lepton Flavour Violation

Discrete flavour groups have been studied in connection with special patterns of neutrino mixing suggested by the data, such as Tri-Bimaximal mixing (groups A4, S4...) or Bi-Maximal mixing (group S4...) etc. We review the predictions for sin(θ_13) in a number of these models and confront them with the experimental measurements. We compare the performances of the different classes of models in this respect. We then consider, in a supersymmetric framework, the important implications of these flavour symmetries on lepton flavour violating processes, like μ-> e gamma and similar processes. We discuss how the existing limits constrain these models, once their parameters are adjusted so as to optimize the agreement with the measured values of the mixing angles. In the simplified CMSSM context, adopted here just for indicative purposes, the small tan(beta) range and heavy SUSY mass scales are favoured by lepton flavour violating processes, which makes it even more difficult to reproduce the reported muon g-2 discrepancy.

Lepton Mixing Parameters from Discrete and CP Symmetries

We consider a scenario with three Majorana neutrinos in which a discrete, finite flavour group G_f is combined with a generalized CP transformation. We derive conditions for consistently defining such a setup. We show that in general lepton mixing angles and CP phases (Dirac as well as Majorana) only depend on one single parameter theta which can take values between 0 and pi, if the residual symmetries are G_e contained in G_f in the charged lepton and G_nu=Z_2 x CP in the neutrino sector. We perform a comprehensive study for G_f=S_4 and find five cases which are phenomenologically interesting. They naturally lead to a non-zero reactor mixing angle and all mixing parameters are strongly correlated. Some of the patterns predict maximal atmospheric mixing and maximal Dirac phase, while others predict trivial Dirac and Majorana phases.

Repressing Anarchy in Neutrino Mass Textures

The recent results that $θ_{13}$ is relatively large, of the order of the previous upper bound, and the indications of a sizable deviation of $θ_{23}$ from the maximal value are in agreement with the predictions of Anarchy in the lepton sector. The quark and charged lepton hierarchies can then be reproduced in a SU(5) GUT context by attributing non-vanishing $U(1)_{FN}$ charges, different for each family, only to the SU(5) tenplet states. The fact that the observed mass hierarchies are stronger for up quarks than for down quarks and charged leptons supports this idea. As discussed in the past, in the flexible context of $SU(5)\otimes U(1)_{FN}$, different patterns of charges can be adopted going from Anarchy to various types of hierarchy. We revisit this approach by also considering new models and we compare all versions to the present data. As a result we confirm that, by relaxing the extreme ansatz of equal $U(1)_{FN}$ charges for all SU(5) pentaplets and singlets, better agreement with the data than for Anarchy is obtained without increasing the model complexity. We also present the distributions obtained in the different models for the Dirac CP-violating phase. Finally we discuss the relative merits of these simple models.

Tri-Bimaximal Neutrino Mixing and Discrete Flavour Symmetries

We review the application of non-Abelian discrete groups to Tri-Bimaximal (TB) neutrino mixing, which is supported by experiment as a possible good first approximation to the data. After summarizing the motivation and the formalism, we discuss specific models, mainly those based on A4 but also on other finite groups, and their phenomenological implications, including the extension to quarks. The recent measurements of θ_13 favour versions of these models where a suitable mechanism leads to corrections to θ_13 that can naturally be larger than those to θ_12 and θ_23. The virtues and the problems of TB mixing models are discussed, also in connection with lepton flavour violating processes, and the different approaches are compared.

Discrete Flavour Symmetries in Light of T2K

We show that a non-vanishing angle theta_13 of order 0.1 can be predicted in the framework of discrete flavour symmetries. We assume that left-handed leptons transform as triplets under a group G_f which is broken in such a way that neutrino and charged lepton sectors remain invariant under the subgroups G_nu and G_e of G_f, respectively. In this limit mixing angles and the Dirac CP violating phase delta_CP are determined. By choosing G_f=Delta(6 n^2) (n=4,8), G_nu=Z_2 x Z_2 and G_e=Z_3 we find sin^2 theta_13=0.045(0.011) for n=4(8). At the same time theta_23 and theta_12 remain close to their experimental best fit values, particularly in the case n=8, where sin^2 theta_23 = 0.424 and sin^2 theta_12 = 0.337. delta_CP is predicted to be 0 or pi so that CP is conserved in our examples.

Finite Modular Groups and Lepton Mixing

We study lepton mixing patterns which are derived from finite modular groups Gamma_N, requiring subgroups G_nu and G_e to be preserved in the neutrino and charged lepton sectors, respectively. We show that only six groups Gamma_N with N=3,4,5,7,8,16 are relevant. A comprehensive analysis is presented for G_e arbitrary and G_nu=Z2 x Z2, as demanded if neutrinos are Majorana particles. We discuss interesting patterns arising from both groups G_e and G_nu being arbitrary. Several of the most promising patterns are specific deviations from tri-bimaximal mixing, all predicting theta_13 non-zero as favoured by the latest experimental data. We also comment on prospects to extend this idea to the quark sector.

The Golden Ratio Prediction for the Solar Angle from a Natural Model with A5 Flavour Symmetry

We formulate a consistent model predicting, in the leading order approximation, maximal atmospheric mixing angle, vanishing reactor angle and tan θ_12 = 1/ϕ where ϕ is the Golden Ratio. The model is based on the flavour symmetry A5 \times Z5 \times Z3, spontaneously broken by a set of flavon fields. By minimizing the scalar potential of the theory up to the next-to-leading order in the symmetry breaking parameter, we demonstrate that this mixing pattern is naturally achieved in a finite portion of the parameter space, through the vacuum alignment of the flavon fields. The leading order approximation is stable against higher-order corrections. We also compare our construction to other models based on discrete symmetry groups.

Discrete Flavor Symmetries and Models of Neutrino Mixing

We review the application of non abelian discrete groups to the theory of neutrino masses and mixing, which is strongly suggested by the agreement of the Tri-Bimaximal mixing pattern with experiment. After summarizing the motivation and the formalism, we discuss specific models, based on A4, S4 and other finite groups, and their phenomenological implications, including lepton flavor violating processes, leptogenesis and the extension to quarks. In alternative to Tri-Bimaximal mixing the application of discrete flavor symmetries to quark-lepton complementarity and Bimaximal Mixing is also considered.

Rare muon and tau decays in A4 Models

We analyze the most general dimension six effective Lagrangian, invariant under the flavour symmetry A4 x Z3 x U(1) proposed to reproduce the near tri-bimaximal lepton mixing observed in neutrino oscillations. The effective Lagrangian includes four-lepton operators that violate the individual lepton numbers in the limit of exact flavor symmetry and allow unsuppressed processes satisfying the rule |Delta L_e x Delta L_mu x Delta L_tau| = 2. The most stringent bounds on the strength of the new interactions come from the observed universality of leptonic muon and tau decays, from the agreement between the Fermi constant measured in the muon decay and that extracted from the mW/mZ ratio, and from the limits on the rare decays tau^- -> mu^+ e^- e^- and tau^- -> e^+ mu^- mu^-. We also investigate these effects in a specific supersymmetric (SUSY) realization of the flavour symmetry and we find large suppression factors for all the processes allowed by the selection rule. We explain why this rule is violated in the SUSY context and we provide a complete picture of lepton flavour violation in the SUSY version of A4 x Z_3 x U(1).

Tri-bimaximal Neutrino Mixing and Quark Masses from a Discrete Flavour Symmetry

We build a supersymmetric model of quark and lepton masses based on the discrete flavour symmetry group T', the double covering of A_4. In the lepton sector our model is practically indistinguishable from recent models based on A_4 and, in particular, it predicts a nearly tri-bimaximal mixing, in good agreement with present data. In the quark sector a realistic pattern of masses and mixing angles is obtained by exploiting the doublet representations of T', not available in A_4. To this purpose, the flavour symmetry T' should be broken spontaneously along appropriate directions in flavour space. In this paper we fully discuss the related vacuum alignment problem, both at the leading order and by accounting for small effects coming from higher-order corrections. As a result we get the relations: \sqrt{m_d/m_s}\approx |V_{us}| and \sqrt{m_d/m_s}\approx |V_{td}/V_{ts}|.

Vacuum Alignment in SUSY A4 Models

In this note we discuss the vacuum alignment in supersymmetric models with spontaneously broken flavour symmetries in the presence of soft supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking terms. We show that the inclusion of soft SUSY breaking terms can give rise to non-vanishing vacuum expectation values (VEVs) for the auxiliary components of the flavon fields. These non-zero VEVs can have an important impact on the phenomenology of this class of models, since they can induce an additional flavour violating contribution to the sfermion soft mass matrix of right-left (RL) type. We carry out an explicit computation in a class of SUSY A4 models predicting tri-bimaximal mixing in the lepton sector. The flavour symmetry breaking sector is described in terms of flavon and driving supermultiplets. We find non-vanishing VEVs for the auxiliary components of the flavon fields and for the scalar components of the driving fields which are of order m_{SUSY} x <phi> and m_{SUSY}, respectively. Thereby, m_{SUSY} is the generic soft SUSY breaking scale which is expected to be around 1 TeV and <phi> is the VEV of scalar components of the flavon fields. Another effect of these VEVs can be the generation of a mu term.

Lepton Flavour Violation in a Supersymmetric Model with A4 Flavour Symmetry

We compute the branching ratios for mu-> e gamma, tau-> mu gamma and tau -> e gamma in a supersymmetric model invariant under the flavour symmetry group A4 X Z3 X U(1)_{FN}, in which near tri-bimaximal lepton mixing is naturally predicted. At leading order in the small symmetry breaking parameter u, which is of the same order as the reactor mixing angle theta_{13}, we find that the branching ratios generically scale as u^2. Applying the current bound on the branching ratio of mu -> e gamma shows that small values of u or tan(beta) are preferred in the model for mass parameters m_{SUSY} and m_{1/2} smaller than 1000 GeV. The bound expected from the on-going MEG experiment will provide a severe constraint on the parameter space of the model either enforcing u approx 0.01 and small tan(beta) or m_{SUSY} and m_{1/2} above 1000 GeV. In the special case of universal soft supersymmetry breaking terms in the flavon sector a cancellation takes place in the amplitudes and the branching ratios scale as u^4, allowing for smaller slepton masses. The branching ratios for tau -> mu gamma and tau -> e gamma are predicted to be of the same order as the one for mu -> e gamma, which precludes the possibility of observing these tau decays in the near future.

Tri-bimaximal Neutrino Mixing from Orbifolding

We show that the A4 discrete symmetry that naturally leads to tri-bimaximal neutrino mixing can be simply obtained as a result of an orbifolding starting from a model in 6 dimensions. This particular orbifolding has four fixed points where 4 dimensional branes are located and the tetrahedral symmetry of A4 connects these branes. In this approach A4 appears after the reduction from six to four dimensions as a remnant of the 6D space-time symmetry. A previously discussed supersymmetric version of A4 is reinterpreted along these lines.

Tri-Bimaximal Neutrino Mixing from Discrete Symmetry in Extra Dimensions

We discuss a particularly symmetric model of neutrino mixings where, with good accuracy, the atmospheric mixing angle theta_{23} is maximal, theta_{13}=0 and the solar angle satisfies sin^2(theta_{12})=1/3 (Harrison-Perkins-Scott (HPS) matrix). The discrete symmetry A_4 is a suitable symmetry group for the realization of this type of model. We construct a model where the HPS matrix is exactly obtained in a first approximation without imposing ad hoc relations among parameters. The crucial issue of the required VEV alignment in the scalar sector is discussed and we present a natural solution of this problem based on a formulation with extra dimensions. We study the corrections from higher dimensionality operators allowed by the symmetries of the model and discuss the conditions on the cut-off scales and the VEVs in order for these corrections to be completely under control. Finally, the observed hierarchy of charged lepton masses is obtained by assuming a larger flavour symmetry. We also show that, under general conditions, a maximal theta_{23} can never arise from an exact flavour symmetry.

Can Neutrino Mixings Arise from the Charged Lepton Sector?

The neutrino mixing matrix U is in general of the form U=U_e^+ U_nu, where U_e arises from the diagonalization of charged leptons and U_nu is from the neutrino sector. We discuss the possibility that U_nu is nearly diagonal (in the lagrangian basis) and the observed mixing arises with good accuracy from U_e. We find that the fact that, in addition to the nearly maximal atmospheric mixing angle theta_{23}, the solar angle theta_{12} is definitely also large while at the same time the third mixing angle theta_{13} is small, makes the construction of a natural model of this sort considerably more complicated. We present an example of a natural model of this class. We also find that the case that U_nu is exactly of the bimixing type is severely constrained by the bound on theta_{13} but not excluded. We show that planned experimental searches for theta_{13} could have a strong impact on bimixing models.

Fermion Generations, Masses and Mixing Angles from Extra Dimensions

We discuss a toy model in six dimensions that predicts two fermion generations, natural mass hierarchy and intergenerational mixing. Matter is described by vector-like six dimensional fermions, one per each irreducible standard model representation. Two fermion generations arise from the compactification mechanism, through orbifold projection. They are localized in different regions of the compact space by a six dimensional mass term. Flavour symmetry is broken via Yukawa couplings, with a Higgs vacuum expectation value not constant in the extra space. A hierarchical spectrum is obtained from order one dimensionless parameters of the six dimensional theory. The Cabibbo angle arises from the soft breaking of six dimensional parity symmetry. We also briefly discuss how the present model could be extended to cover the realistic case.

Brane-induced supersymmetry breaking

We study spontaneous supersymmetry breaking induced by brane-localized dynamics in five-dimensional supergravity compactified on S^1/Z_2. We consider a model with gravity in the bulk and matter localized on tensionless branes at the orbifold fixed points. We assume that the brane dynamics give rise to effective brane superpotentials that trigger the supersymmetry breaking. We analyze in detail the super-Higgs effect. We compute the full spectrum and show that the symmetry breaking is spontaneous but nonlocal in the fifth dimension. We demonstrate that the model can be interpreted as a new, non-trivial implementation of a coordinate-dependent Scherk-Schwarz compactification.

Generalized symmetry breaking on orbifolds

We reconsider the phenomenon of mass generation via coordinate-dependent compatifications of higher-dimensional theories on orbifolds. For definiteness, we study a generic five-dimensional (5D) theory compactified on S^1/Z_2. We show that the presence of fixed points, where the fields or their derivatives may be discontinuous, permits new realizations of the Scherk-Schwarz mechanism where, for example, the mass terms are localized at the orbifold fixed points. Our technique can be used to describe the explicit breaking of global flavor symmetries and supersymmetries by brane-localized mass terms. It can also be applied to the spontaneous breaking of local symmetries, such as gauge symmetries or supergravities.

Symmetry Breaking for Bosonic Systems on Orbifolds

We discuss a general class of boundary conditions for bosons living in an extra spatial dimension compactified on S^1/Z_2. Discontinuities for both fields and their first derivatives are allowed at the orbifold fixed points. We analyze examples with free scalar fields and interacting gauge vector bosons, deriving the mass spectrum, that depends on a combination of the twist and the jumps. We discuss how the same physical system can be characterized by different boundary conditions, related by local field redefinitions that turn a twist into a jump or vice-versa. When the description is in term of discontinuous fields, appropriate lagrangian terms should be localized at the orbifold fixed points.

Models of Neutrino Masses from Oscillations with Maximal Mixing

We discuss models of neutrino masses that lead to a large mixing angle for atmospheric neutrino oscillations. In particular we study a mechanism where a simple texture for the Dirac matrix leads to the observed pattern of mixings for a continuous range of Majorana matrices in a reasonably natural way. Both nearly maximal and small mixing solutions for solar neutrinos are compatible with this model. Possible dynamical realizations are discussed and a detailed example in terms of horizontal U(1) charges is presented.

On the effective interactions of a light gravitino with matter fermions

If the gravitino is light and all the other supersymmetric particles are heavy, we can consider the effective theory describing the interactions of its goldstino components with ordinary matter. To discuss the model-dependence of these interactions, we take the simple case of spontaneously broken supersymmetry and only two chiral superfields, associated with the goldstino and a massless matter fermion. We derive the four-point effective coupling involving two matter fermions and two goldstinos, by explicit integration of the heavy spin-0 degrees of freedom in the low-energy limit. Surprisingly, our result is not equivalent to the usual non-linear realization of supersymmetry, where a pair of goldstinos couples to the energy-momentum tensor of the matter fields. We solve the puzzle by enlarging the non-linear realization to include a second independent invariant coupling, and we show that there are no other independent couplings of this type up to this order in the low-energy expansion. We conclude by commenting on the interpretation of our results and on their possible phenomenological implications.

Phenomenological implications of light stop and higgsinos

We examine the phenomenological implications of light $\tilde{t}_R$ and higgsinos in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, assuming $\tan^2 β< m_t / m_b$ and heavy $\tilde{t}_L$ and gauginos. In this simplified setting, we study the contributions to $Δm_{B_d}$, $ε_K$, $BR(b \rightarrow s γ)$, $R_b \equiv Γ(Z \rightarrow b \overline{b}) / Γ( Z \to {\rm hadrons})$, $BR(t \to b W)$, and their interplay.
