Ground state correlations on ground state densities and total binding energies of 40Ca, 48Ca and 208Pb

Neutron and proton densities of doubly-closed shell nuclei 40Ca, 48Ca and 208Pb are studied based on a Hartree-Fock model with SAMi, SAMi-J27 and SAMi-T energy density functionals (EDFs). The ground state correlations (GSC) induced by isoscalar and isovector phonons are also evaluated by the second order perturbation theory with a self-consistent random phase approximation (RPA). We found that the interior part of the ground state densities is reduced by the GSC in consistent with the experimental data. On the other hand, the GSC enhances the neutron skin thickness of 48Ca and 208Pb. The effect of GSC on the total binding energy is also evaluated by the quasi-boson approximation. The effect of the tensor interaction is found small on both the density distributions and the binding energies.

Development of a Reference Database for Beta-Delayed Neutron Emission

Beta-delayed neutron emission is important for nuclear structure and astrophysics as well as for reactor applications. Significant advances in nuclear experimental techniques in the past two decades have led to a wealth of new measurements that remain to be incorporated in the databases. We report on a coordinated effort to compile and evaluate all the available beta-delayed neutron emission data. The different measurement techniques have been assessed and the data have been compared with semi-microscopic and microscopic-macroscopic models. The new microscopic database has been tested against aggregate total delayed neutron yields, time-dependent group parameters in 6-and 8-group re-presentation, and aggregate delayed neutron spectra. New recommendations of macroscopic delayed-neutron data for fissile materials of interest to applications are also presented. The new Reference Database for Beta-Delayed Neutron Emission Data is available online at: http://www-nds.iaea.org/beta-delayed-neutron/database.html.

Impact of tensor force on β-decay of magic and semi-magic nuclei

Effect of the tensor force on $β$?-decay is studied in the framework of the proton-neutron random-phase-approximation (RPA) with the Skyrme force. The investigation is performed for even-even semi-magic and magic nuclei, $^{34}$Si, $^{68}$, $^{78}$Ni and $^{132}$Sn. The tensor correlation induces strong impact on low-lying Gamow-Teller state. In particular, it improves the ?$β$-decay half-lives. $Q$ and $ft$ values are also investigated and compared with experimental data.

Sum rule approach to a soft dipole mode in $Λ$ hypernuclei

Applying the sum rule approach, we investigate the energy of a soft dipole motion in $Λ$ hypernuclei, which results from a dipole oscillation of a $Λ$ hyperon against the core nucleus. To this end, we systematically study single-$Λ$ hypernuclei, from $^{16}_{\;\,Λ}$O to $^{208}_{\;\;\;Λ}$Pb, for which the ground state wave function is obtained in the framework of Hartree-Fock method with several Skyrme-type $ΛN$ interactions. Our results indicate that the excitation energy of the soft dipole $Λ$ mode, $E_{sdΛ}$, decreases as the mass number increases. We find that the excitation energy is well parametrized as $E_{sdΛ}=26.6A^{-1/3}+11.2A^{-2/3}$ MeV as a function of mass number $A$.

Collective excitations of $Λ$ hypernuclei

We discuss low-lying collective excitations of $Λ$ hypernuclei using the self-consistent mean-field approaches. We first discuss the deformation properties of $Λ$ hypernuclei in the $sd$-shell region. Based on the relativistic mean-field (RMF) approach, we show that the oblate deformation for $^{28}$Si nucleus may disappear when a $Λ$ particle is added to this nucleus. We then discuss the rotational excitations of $^{25}_Λ$Mg nucleus using the three-dimensional potential energy surface in the deformation plane obtained with the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock method. The deformation of $^{25}_Λ$Mg nucleus is predicted to be slightly reduced due to an addition of $Λ$ particle. We demonstrate that this leads to a reduction of electromagnetic transition probability, $B(E2)$, in the ground state rotational band. We also present an application of random phase approximation (RPA) to hypernuclei, and show that a new dipole mode, which we call a soft dipole $Λ$ mode, appears in hypernuclei, which can be interpreted as an oscillation of $Λ$ particle against the core nucleus.

Application of random phase approximation to vibrational excitations of double-$Λ$ hypernuclei

Using the Hartree-Fock plus random-phase-approximation (HF+RPA), we study the impurity effect of $Λ$ hyperon on the collective vibrational excitations of double-$Λ$ hypernuclei. To this end, we employ a Skyrme-type $ΛN$ and $ΛΛ$ interactions for the HF calculations, and the residual interactions for RPA derived with the same interactions. We find that inclusion of two $Λ$ hyperons in $^{16}$O shifts the energy of the collective states towards higher energies. In particular, the energy of the giant monopole resonance of $^{\,\,18}_{ΛΛ}$O, as well as that of $^{210}_{ΛΛ}$Pb, becomes larger. This implies that the effective incompressibility modulus increases due to the impurity effect of $Λ$ particle, if the $β$-stability condition is not imposed.

$β$-decay half-lives at finite temperatures for N=82 isotones

Using the finite temperature quasi-particle random phase approximation (FTQRPA) on the basis of finite temperature Skyrme-Hartree-Fock + BCS method, we study $β^-$-decay half-lives for even-even neutron magic nuclei with N=82 in a finite temperature environment. We find that the $β^-$-decay half-life first decreases as the temperature increases for all the nuclei we study, although the thermal effect is found to be small at temperatures relevant to r-process nucleosynthesis. Our calculations indicate that the half-life begins to increase at high temperatures for open shell nuclei. We discuss this behavior in connection to the pairing phase transition.
