Exact quantum field mappings between different experiments on quantum gases

Experiments on trapped quantum gases can probe challenging regimes of quantum many-body dynamics, where strong interactions or non-equilibrium states prevent exact solutions. Here we present an exact result which holds even when no exact solutions can be found: a class of spacetime mappings of different experiments onto each other, as long as the gas particles interact via two-body potentials which possess a scaling property that most real interactions do possess. Since our result is an identity relating second-quantized field operators in the Heisenberg picture of quantum mechanics, it is otherwise general; it applies to arbitrary measurements on any mixtures of Bose or Fermi gases, in arbitrary initial states. Practical applications of this mapping include perfect simulation of non-trivial experiments with other experiments which may be easier to perform.

Dynamics of matter-wave solutions of Bose-Einstein condensates in a homogeneous gravitational field

We find a matter-wave solution of Bose-Einstein condensates trapped in a harmonic-oscillator potential and subjected to a homogeneous gravitational field, by means of the extended tanhfunction method. This solution has as special cases the bright and dark solitons. We investigate the dynamics and the kinematics of these solutions, and the role of gravity is sketched. It is shown that these solutions can be generated and manipulated by controlling the s-wave scattering length, without changing the strengths of the magnetic and gravitational fields.

Power spectrum for the Bose-Einstein condensate dark matter

We assume that dark matter is composed of scalar particles that form a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) at some point during the cosmic evolution. Afterwards, cold dark matter is in the form of a condensate and behaves slightly different from the standard dark matter component. We study the large scale perturbative dynamics of the BEC dark matter in a model where this component coexists with baryonic matter and cosmological constant. The perturbative dynamics is studied using neo- Newtonian cosmology (where the pressure is dynamically relevant for the homogeneous and isotropic background) which is assumed to be correct for small values of the sound speed. We show that BEC dark matter effects can be seen in the matter power spectrum if the mass of the condensate particle lies in the range 15meV < m < 700meV leading to a small, but perceptible, excess of power at large scales.
