Scalar field models driven by Dirac-Born-Infeld dynamics and their relatives

In this paper, we investigate novel kinklike structures in a scalar field theory driven by Dirac-Born-Infeld (DBI) dynamics. Analytical features are reached through a first-order formalism and a deformation procedure. The analysis ensures the linear stability of the obtained solutions, and the deformation method permits to detect new topological solutions given some systems of known solutions. The proposed models vary according to the parameters of the theory. However, in a certain parameter regime, their defect profiles are precisely obtained by standard theories. These are the models relatives. Besides that, we investigate the $β-$Starobinsky potential in the perspective of topological defects; and we have shown that it can support kinklike solutions, for both canonical and non-canonical kinetics. As a result, we propose two new kinds of generalizations on the $β-$Starobinsky model, by considering the DBI approach. Finally, we explore the main characteristics of such structures in these new scenarios.

Exploring the thermodynamics of non-commutative scalar fields

We study the thermodynamic properties of the Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) in the context of the quantum field theory with non-commutative target space. Our main goal is to investigate in which temperature and/or energy regimes the non-commutativity can characterize some influence in the BEC properties described by a relativistic massive non-commutative boson gas. The non-commutativity parameters play a key role in the modified dispersion relations of the non-commutative fields, leading to a new phenomenology. We have obtained the condensate fraction, internal energy, pressure and specific heat of the system and taken ultra-relativistic (UR) and non-relativistic limits (NR). The non-commutative effects in the thermodynamic properties of the system are discussed. We found that there appear interesting signatures around the critical temperature.
