Generic diagonal conic bundles revisited

We prove a stronger form of our previous result that Schinzel's Hypothesis holds for $100\%$ of $n$-tuples of integer polynomials satisfying the usual necessary conditions, where the primes represented by the polynomials are subject to additional constraints in terms of Legendre symbols, as well as upper and lower bounds. We establish the triviality of the Brauer group of generic diagonal conic bundles over the projective line. Finally, we give an explicit lower bound for the probability that diagonal conic bundles in certain natural families have rational points.

The size of the primes obstructing the existence of rational points

The sequence of the primes $p$ for which a variety over $\mathbb{Q}$ has no $p$-adic point plays a fundamental role in arithmetic geometry. This sequence is deterministic, however, we prove that if we choose a typical variety from a family then the sequence has random behavior. We furthermore prove that this behavior is modelled by a random walk in Brownian motion. This has several consequences, one of them being the description of the finer properties of the distribution of the primes in this sequence via the Feynman-Kac formula.

Vinogradov's three primes theorem with primes having given primitive roots

The first purpose of our paper is to show how Hooley's celebrated method leading to his conditional proof of the Artin conjecture on primitive roots can be combined with the Hardy-Littlewood circle method. We do so by studying the number of representations of an odd integer as a sum of three primes, all of which have prescribed primitive roots. The second purpose is to analyse the singular series. In particular, using results of Lenstra, Stevenhagen and Moree, we provide a partial factorisation as an Euler product and prove that this does not extend to a complete factorisation.

Generalised divisor sums of binary forms over number fields

Estimating averages of Dirichlet convolutions $1 \ast χ$, for some real Dirichlet character $χ$ of fixed modulus, over the sparse set of values of binary forms defined over $\mathbb{Z}$ has been the focus of extensive investigations in recent years, with spectacular applications to Manin's conjecture for Châtelet surfaces. We introduce a far-reaching generalization of this problem, in particular replacing $χ$ by Jacobi symbols with both arguments having varying size, possibly tending to infinity. The main results of this paper provide asymptotic estimates and lower bounds of the expected order of magnitude for the corresponding averages. All of this is performed over arbitrary number fields by adapting a technique of Daniel specific to $1\ast 1$. This is the first time that divisor sums over values of binary forms are asymptotically evaluated over any number field other than $\mathbb{Q}$. Our work is a key step in the proof, given in subsequent work, of the lower bound predicted by Manin's conjecture for all del Pezzo surfaces over all number fields, under mild assumptions on the Picard number.
