3D Printing & the Artists Known As the Fauves
In this short, chatty paper, I describe how my attempt to use mathematics to create a 3D print of a school portrait led me a group of early 20th century French artists known as the Fauves.

This manuscript presents a linear algebra-based technique that only requires two unique photographs from a digital camera to mathematically construct a 3D surface representation which can then be 3D printed. Basic computer vision theory and manufacturing principles are also briefly discussed.
In this primer, we will describe a number of projects that can be completed with a 3D printer, particularly by mathematics professors and their students. For many of the projects, we will utilize Mathematica to design objects that mathematicians may be interested in printing. Included in the projects that are described is a method to acquire data from an XBox Kinect.
As continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) are used increasingly by diabetic patients, new and intuitive tools are needed to help patients and their physicians use these streams of data to improve blood glucose management. In this paper, we propose a daily CGM Score which can be calculated from CGM data. The calculation involves assigning grades and scores to 80-minute periods of CGM data, and then aggregating the results. Scores for an individual patient, or among a set of patients, can then be compared and contrasted, and longitudinal studies of CGM data can also be accomplished.
