Role of core excitation in (d,p) transfer reactions

[Background:] Recent work found that core excitation can be important in extracting structure information from (d,p) reactions. [Purpose:] Our objective is to systematically explore the role of core excitation in (d,p) reactions, and understand the origin of the dynamical effects. [Method:] Based on the particle-rotor model of $n+^{10}$Be, we generate a number of models with a range of separation energies ($S_n=0.1-5.0$ MeV), while maintaining a significant core excited component. We then apply the latest extension of the momentum-space based Faddeev method, including dynamical core excitation in the reaction mechanism to all orders, to the $^{10}$Be(d,p)$^{11}$Be like reactions, and study the excitation effects for beam energies from $E_d=15-90$ MeV. [Results:] We study the resulting angular distributions and the differences between the spectroscopic factor that would be extracted from the cross sections, when including dynamical core excitation in the reaction, to that of the original structure model. We also explore how different partial waves affect the final cross section. [Conclusions:] Our results show a strong beam energy dependence of the extracted spectroscopic factors that become smaller for intermediate beam energies. This dependence increases for loosely bound systems.

Interaction of hopfions of charge 1 and 2 from product ansatz

We continue the discussion on the interaction energy of the axially symmetric Hopfions evaluated directly from the product anzsatz. The Hopfions are given by the projection of Skyrme model solutions onto the coset space SU(2)/U(1). Our results show that if the separation between the constituents is not small, the product ansatz can be considered as a good approximation to the general pattern of Hopfions interaction both in repulsive and attractive channel.

Hopfions interaction from the viewpoint of the product ansatz

We discuss the relation between the solutions of the Skyrme model of lower degrees and the corresponding axially symmetric Hopfions which is given by the projection onto the coset space SU(2)/U(1). The interaction energy of the Hopfions is evaluated directly from the product ansatz. Our results show that if the separation between the constituents is not very small, the product ansatz can be considered as a relatively good approximation to the general pattern of the charge one Hopfions interaction both in repulsive and attractive channel.

Dibaryons as canonically quantized biskyrmions

The characteristic feature of the ground state configuration of the Skyrme model description of nuclei is the absence of recognizable individual nucleons. The ground state of the skyrmion with baryon number 2 is axially symmetric, and is well approximated by a simple rational map, which represents a direct generalization of Skyrme's hedgehog ansatz for the nucleon. If the Lagrangian density is canonically quantized this configuration may support excitations that lie close and possible below the threshold for pion decay, and therefore describe dibaryons. The quantum corrections stabilize these solutions, the mass density of which have the correct exponential fall off at large distances.
