Simple closed analytical expression for approximate direct correlation function (DCF) for multi--Yukawa hard--core system of particles is presented. The obtained DCF is a solution of the Ornstein--Zernike equation with multi--Yukawa closure valid in the linear approximation in the potential. This approximation includes linear corrections to the hard-- sphere DCF inside the core radius.
We examine the phase diagram of the $p$-spin mean field glass model in the spin one case, that is when $S=0,+1,-1$. For large $p$ the model is solved exactly. The analysis reveals that the phase diagram is in some way similar to that of Ising spins. However, as we show, the quadrupolar regular ordering as well as qudrupolar glass order are present now. The temperature of the Gardner 1RSB -- FRSB transition is obtained explicitly for large $p$. The case of higher spins is discussed briefly.
We investigate the generalized p-spin models that contain arbitrary diagonal operators U with no reflection symmetry. We derive general equations that give an opportunity to uncover the behavior of the system near the glass transition at different (continuous) p. The quadrupole glass with J=1 is considered as an illustrating example. It is shown that the crossover from continuous to discontinuous glass transition to one-step replica breaking solution takes place at p=3.3 for this model. For p <2+Δp, where Δp= 0.5 is a finite value, stable 1RSB-solution disappears. This behaviour is strongly different from that of the p-spin Ising glass model.
We investigate generalized Sherrington--Kirkpatrick glassy systems without reflection symmetry. In the neighbourhood of the transition temperature we in general uncover the structure of the glass state building the full-replica-symmetry breaking solution. Physical example of explicitly constructed solution is given.
In the framework of the density functional theory of freezing proposed in our previous works, we calculate the phase diagram of two-dimensional system of particles interacting through the repulsive shoulder potential. This potential consists of the hard core and repulsive shoulder of the larger radius. It is shown that at low densities the system melts through the continuous transition in accordance with the Kosterlitz-Thouless-Halperin-Nelson-Young (KTHNY) scenario, while at high densities the conventional first order transition takes place.
In the present paper we propose the van der Waals-like model, which allows a purely analytical study of fluid properties including the equation of state, phase behavior and supercritical fluctuations. We take a square-well system as an example and calculate its liquid - gas transition line and supercritical fluctuations. Employing this model allows us to calculate not only the thermodynamic response functions (isothermal compressibility $β_T$, isobaric heat capacity $C_P$, density fluctuations $ζ_T$, and thermal expansion coefficient $α_T$), but also the correlation length in the fluid $ξ$. It is shown that the bunch of extrema widens rapidly upon departure from the critical point. It seems that the Widom line defined in this way cannot be considered as a real boundary that divides the supercritical region into the gaslike and liquidlike regions. As it has been shown recently, the new dynamic line on the phase diagram in the supercritical region, namely the Frenkel line, can be used for this purpose.
The system with the square shoulder (SS) potential is considered in the frame of Mode Coupling Theory (MCT) approach. An approximation for the structure factor is used that emphasizes the quasibinary character of the system. The qualitative phase diagram is constructed that includes continuous and discontinuous glass-glass transitions. The phase diagram is governed by two swallow tails connected with two $A_4$ singularities.
We investigate near the point of glass transition the expansion of the free energy corresponding to the generalized Sherrington--Kirkpatrick model with arbitrary diagonal operators U standing instead of Ising spins. We focus on the case when U is an operator with broken reflection symmetry. Such a consideration is important for understanding the behavior of spin-glass-like phases in a number of real physical systems, mainly in orientational glasses in mixed molecular crystals which present just the case. We build explicitly a full replica symmetry breaking (FRSB) solution of the equations for the orientational glass order parameters when the non-symmetric part of U is small. This particular result presents a counterexample in the context of usually adopted conjecture of the absence of FRSB solution in systems with no reflection symmetry.
A short survey is presented on spin--glass--like states characteristics in complex nonmagnetic systems. We discuss the interplay of the interaction structure and symmetry with the classification scenarios of the replica symmetry breaking. It is shown that the kind of the transition to the nonergodic state depends not only on the presence or absence of the reflection symmetry but on the number of interacting operators and their individual characteristics.
Expansion for the free energy functionals of the Potts spin glass models with 3, 4 and 5 states up to the fourth order in $δq_{αβ}$ around the replica symmetric solution (RS) is investigated using a special quadrupole-like representation. The temperature dependence of the 1RSB order parameters is obtained in the vicinity of the point $T=T_c$ where the RS solution becomes unstable. The crossover from continuous to jumpwise behavior with increasing of number of states is derived analytically. The comparison is made of the free energy expansion for the Potts spin glass with that for other models.
