Higgs Decays in Gauge Extensions of the Standard Model

We explore the phenomenology of virtual spin-1 contributions to the h to gamma gamma and h to Z gamma decay rates in gauge extensions of the standard model. We consider generic lorentz and gauge invariant vector self-interactions, which can have non-trivial structure after diagonalizing the quadratic part of the action. Such features are phenomenologically relevant in models where the electroweak gauge bosons mix with additional spin-1 fields, such as occurs in little higgs models, extra dimensional models, strongly coupled variants of electroweak symmetry breaking, and other gauge extensions of the standard model. In models where non-renormalizable operators mix field strengths of gauge groups, the one-loop higgs decay amplitudes can be logarithmically divergent, and we provide power counting for the size of the relevant counter-term. We provide an example calculation in a 4-site moose model that contains degrees of freedom that model the effects of vector and axial vector resonances arising from TeV scale strong dynamics.

A Top Seesaw on a 5D Playground

We study quantum corrections to an extra dimensional Yukawa theory where a single flat extra spatial dimension is compactified on an interval. At a UV scale this theory can be made equivalent to a 5D theory with a bulk four-fermion operator by choosing appropriate boundary conditions for the running of the low-energy theory. Using the fermion bubble approximation we find vacuum solutions which break the chiral symmetries that arise from compactification. Of particular interest are the form of brane localized terms which arise from fermion loops. For example, quadratically divergent contributions to the scalar mass are absent at one loop due to a remnant of 5D Lorentz invariance that is only lost after introducing fermion bulk masses. The model is interpreted as an implementation of top condensation in extra dimensions with an automatic seesaw mechanism.

Revealing Randall-Sundrum Hidden Valleys

We study 5D gauge symmetries in the Randall-Sundrum geometry that are hidden from the standard model through either small 5D gauge coupling, or through vanishing quantum numbers for the standard model fields. Geometric warping of 5D gravity creates a TeV scale bridge from the standard model to the hidden sector gauge fields. We apply these concepts to a revival of the electroweak axion model, in which the dynamics of Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking occur at the TeV scale.
