Ab-initio calculations for structural properties of Zr-Nb alloys

Ab-initio calculations for the structural properties of Zr-Nb alloys at different values of the niobium concentration are done at zero temperature. Different cases for Zr-Nb alloys with unit cells having BCC and HCP structures are considered. Optimal values of the lattice constants are obtained. Critical value for the niobium concentration corresponding to the structural transformation HCP \rightarrow BCC at zero temperature is determined. Electronic densities of states for two different structures with niobium concentrations 12.5% and 25% having HCP and BCC structures, accordingly, are studied.

Modeling self-organization of nano-size vacancy clusters in stochastic systems subjected to irradiation

A study of the self-organization of vacancy clusters in irradiated materials is presented. Using a continuum stochastic model we take into account dynamics of point defects and their sinks with elastic interactions of vacancies. Dynamics of vacancy clusters formation is studied analytically and numerically under conditions related to irradiation in both reactors and accelerators. We have shown a difference in patterning dynamics and studied the external noise influence related to fluctuation in a defect production rate. Applying our approach to pure nickel irradiated under different conditions we have shown that vacancy clusters having a linear size 6 nm can arrange in statistical periodic structure with nano-meter range. We have found that linear size of vacancy clusters at accelerator conditions decreases down to 20%, whereas a period of vacancy clusters reduces to 6.5%.

Properties of nano-islands formation in nonequilibrium reaction-diffusion systems with memory effects

We study dynamics of pattern formation in systems belonging to class of reaction-Cattaneo models including persistent diffusion (memory effects of the diffusion flux). It was shown that due to the memory effects pattern seletion process are realized. We have found that oscillatory behavior of the radius of the adsorbate islands is governed by finite propagation speed. It is shown that stabilization of nano-patterns in such models is possible only by nonequilibrium chemical reactions. Oscillatory dynamics of pattern formation is studied in details by numerical simulations.

Properties of nano-pattern formation in reaction-diffusion systems with hyperbolic transport and multiplicative noise

We study nano-pattern formation in a stochastic model for adsorption-desorption processes with interacting adsorbate and hyperbolic transport caused by memory effects. It is shown that at early stages the system manifests pattern selection processes. Stationary stable patterns of nano-size are analyzed. It was found that multiplicative noise satisfying fluctuation-dissipation relation can induce re-entrant pattern formation related to non-equilibrium transitions. According to obtained Fokker-Planck equation kinetics of island sizes in a quasi-stationary limit is discussed. Analytical results are compared with computer simulations.

Evolution of the System with Singular Multiplicative Noise

The governed equations for the order parameter, one-time and two-time correlators are obtained on the basis of the Langevin equation with the white multiplicative noise which amplitude $x^{a}$ is determined by an exponent $0<a<1$ ($x$ being a stochastic variable). It turns out that equation for autocorrelator includes an anomalous average of the power-law function with the fractional exponent $2a$. Determination of this average for the stochastic system with a self-similar phase space is performed. It is shown that at $a>1/2$, when the system is disordered, the correlator behaves non-monotonically in the course of time, whereas the autocorrelator is increased monotonically. At $a<1/2$ the phase portrait of the system evolution divides into two domains: at small initial values of the order parameter, the system evolves to a disordered state, as above; within the ordered domain it is attracted to the point having the finite values of the autocorrelator and order parameter. The long-time asymptotes are defined to show that, within the disordered domain, the autocorrelator decays hyperbolically and the order parameter behaves as the power-law function with fractional exponent $-2(1-a)$. Correspondingly, within the ordered domain, the behavior of both dependencies is exponential with an index proportional to $-t\ln t$.
