Nondegenerate invariant symmetric bilinear forms on simple Lie superalgebras in characteristic 2

As is well-known, the dimension of the space spanned by the non-degenerate invariant symmetric bilinear forms (NISes) on any simple finite-dimensional Lie algebra or Lie superalgebra is equal to at most 1 if the characteristic of the algebraically closed ground field is not 2. We prove that in characteristic 2, the superdimension of the space spanned by NISes can be equal to 0, or 1, or $0|1$, or $1|1$; it is equal to $1|1$ if and only if the Lie superalgebra is a queerification (defined in arXiv:1407.1695) of a simple classically restricted Lie algebra with a NIS (for examples, mainly in characteristic distinct from 2, see arXiv:1806.05505). We give examples of NISes on deformations (with both even and odd parameters) of several simple finite-dimensional Lie superalgebras in characteristic 2. We also recall examples of multiple NISes on simple Lie algebras over non-closed fields.

Duflo-Serganova homology for exceptional modular Lie superalgebras with Cartan matrix

For the exceptional finite-dimensional modular Lie superalgebras $\mathfrak{g}(A)$ with indecomposable Cartan matrix $A$, and their simple subquotients, we computed non-isomorphic Lie superalgebras constituting the homologies of the odd elements with zero square. These homologies are~key ingredients in the Duflo--Serganova approach to the representation theory. There were two definitions of defect of Lie superalgebras in the literature with different ranges of application. We suggest a third definition and an easy-to-use way to find its value. In positive characteristic, we found out one more reason to consider the space of roots over reals, unlike the space of weights, which should be considered over the ground field. We proved that the rank of the homological element (decisive in calculating the defect of a given Lie superalgebra) should be considered in the adjoint module, not the irreducible module of least dimension (although the latter is sometimes possible to consider, e.g., for $p=0$). We also computed the above homology for the only case of simple Lie superalgebras with symmetric root system not considered so far over the field of complex numbers, and its modular versions: $\mathfrak{psl}(a|a+pk)$ for $a$ and $k$ small, and $p=2, 3, 5$.

The Dzhumadildaev brackets: a hidden supersymmetry of commutators and the Amitsur-Levitzki-type identities

The Amitsur-Levitzki identity for matrices was generalized in several directions: by Kostant for simple finite-dimensional Lie algebras, by Kirillov (later joined by Kontsevich, Molev, Ovsienko, and Udalova) for simple vectorial Lie algebras with polynomial coefficients, and by Gie, Pinczon, and Ushirobira for the orthosymplectic Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{osp}(1|n)$. Dzhumadildaev switched the focus of attention in these results by considering the algebra formed by antisymmetrizors and discovered a hidden supersymmetry of commutators. We overview these results and their possible generalizations (open problems).

Divided power (co)homology. Presentations of simple finite dimensional modular Lie superalgebras with Cartan matrix

For modular Lie superalgebras, new notions are introduced: Divided power homology and divided power cohomology. For illustration, we give presentations (in terms of analogs of Chevalley generators) of finite dimensional Lie (super)algebras with indecomposable Cartan matrix in characteristic 2 (and in other characteristics for completeness of the picture). We correct the currently available in the literature notions of Chevalley generators and Cartan matrix in the modular and super cases, and an auxiliary notion of the Dynkin diagram. In characteristic 2, the defining relations of simple classical Lie algebras of the A, D, E types are not only Serre ones; these non-Serre relations are same for Lie superalgebras with the same Cartan matrix and any distribution of parities of the generators. Presentations of simple orthogonal Lie algebras having no Cartan matrix are also given..

The Poincare series of the hyperbolic Coxeter groups with finite volume of fundamental domains

The discrete group generated by reflections of the sphere, or Euclidean space, or hyperbolic space are said to be Coxeter groups of, respectively, spherical, or Euclidean, or hyperbolic type. The hyperbolic Coxeter groups are said to be (quasi-)Lannér if the tiles covering the space are of finite volume and all (resp. some of them) are compact. For any Coxeter group stratified by the length of its elements, the Poincaré series (a.k.a. growth function) is the generating function of the cardinalities of sets of elements of equal length. Solomon established that, for ANY Coxeter group, its Poincaré series is a rational function with zeros somewhere on the unit circle centered at the origin, and gave a recurrence formula. The explicit expression of the Poincaré series was known for the spherical and Euclidean Coxeter groups, and 3-generated Coxeter groups, and (with mistakes) Lannér groups. Here we give a lucid description of the numerator of the Poincaré series of any Coxeter group, and denominators for each (quasi-)Lannér group, and review the scene. We give an interpretation of some coefficients of the denominator of the Poincaré series. The non-real poles behave as in Eneström's theorem (lie in a narrow annulus) though the coefficients of the denominators do not satisfy theorem's requirements.

Defining relations associated with the principal sl(2)-subalgebras of simple Lie algebras

The notion of defining relations is well-defined for any nilpotent Lie algebra. Therefore a conventional way to present a simple Lie algebra G is by splitting it into the direct sum of a commutative Cartan subalgebra and two maximal nilpotent subalgebras (positive and negative) and together the generators of both these nilpotent subalgebras together generate G. Though there are many relations between these generators, they are neat (Serre relations). It is possible to determine the relations for generators of different type, e.g, with the principal embeddings of sl(2) into G one can associate only TWO elements that generate G. We explicitly describe the corresponding presentations of simple Lie algebras, for all finite dimensional and certain infinite dimensional ones; namely, for the Lie algebra "of matrices of a complex size" realized as a subalgebra of the Lie algebra of differential operators in 1 indeterminate. The relations obtained are rather simple. Our results might be of interest in applications to integrable systems (like vector-valued Liouville (or Leznov-Saveliev, or 2-dimensional Toda) equations and KdV-type equations). They also indicate how to q-quantize the Lie algebra of matrices of complex size.

How to quantize the antibracket

The uniqueness of (the class of) deformation of Poisson Lie algebra has long been a completely accepted folklore. Actually, it is wrong as stated, because its validity depends on the class of functions that generate Poisson Lie algebra, Po(2n): it is true for polynomials but false for Laurent polynomials. We show that unlike the Lie superalgebra Po(2n|m), its quotient modulo center, the Lie superalgebra H(2n|m) of Hamiltonian vector fields with polynomial coefficients, has exceptional extra deformations for (2n|m)=(2|2) and only for this superdimension. We relate this result to the complete description of deformations of the antibracket (also called the Schouten or Buttin bracket). The representation of the deform (the result of quantization) of the Poisson algebra in the Fock space coincides with the simplest space on which the Lie algebra of commutation relations acts. This coincidence is not necessary for Lie superalgebras

The Riemann tensor for nonholonomic manifolds

For every nonholonomic manifold, i.e., manifold with nonintegrable distribution, the analog of the Riemann tensor is introduced. It is calculated here for the contact and Engel structures: for the contact structure it vanishes (another proof of Darboux's canonical form); for the Engel distribution the target space of the tensor is of dimension 2. In particular, the Lie algebra preserving the Engel distribution is described. The tensors introduced are interpreted as modifications of the Spencer cohomology and, as such, provide with a new way to solve partial differential equations. Goldschmidt's criteria for formal integrability (vanishing of certain Spencer cohomology) are only applicable to ``one half'' of all differential equations, the ones whose symmetries are induced by point transformations. Lie's theorem says that the ``other half'' consists of differential equations whose symmetries are induced by contact transformations. Therefore, we can now extend Goldschmidt's criteria for formal integrability to all differential equations.

How to superize Liouville equation

So far, there are described in the literature two ways to superize the Liouville equation: for a scalar field (for $N\leq 4$) and for a vector-valued field (analogs of the Leznov--Saveliev equations) for N=1. Both superizations are performed with the help of Neveu--Schwarz superalgebra. We consider another version of these superLiouville equations based on the Ramond superalgebra, their explicit solutions are given by Ivanov--Krivonos' scheme. Open problems are offered.

Manin-Olshansky triples for Lie superalgebras

Following V. Drinfeld and G. Olshansky, we construct Manin triples $(\fg, \fa, \fa^*)$ such that $\fg$ is different from Drinfeld's doubles of $\fa$ for several series of Lie superalgebras $\fa$ which have no even invariant bilinear form (periplectic, Poisson and contact) and for a remarkable exception. Straightforward superization of suitable Etingof--Kazhdan's results guarantee then the uniqueness of $q$-quantization of our Lie bialgebras. Our examples give solutions to the quantum Yang-Baxter equation in the cases when the classical YB equation has no solutions. To find explicit solutions is a separate (open) problem. It is also an open problem to list (à la Belavin-Drinfeld) all solutions of the {\it classical} YB equation for the Poisson superalgebras $\fpo(0|2n)$ and the exceptional Lie superalgebra $\fk(1|6)$ which has a Killing-like supersymmetric bilinear form but no Cartan matrix.
