(H,G)(H,G)-coincidence theorems for manifolds and a topological Tverberg type theorem for any natural number rr

Let XX be a paracompact space, let GG be a finite group acting freely on XX and let HH a cyclic subgroup of GG of prime order pp. Let f:X→Mf:X\rightarrow M be a continuous map where MM is a connected mm-manifold (orientable if p>2p>2) and f∗(Vk)=0f^* (V_k) = 0, for k≥1k\geq 1, where VkV_k are the WuWu classes of MM. Suppose that ind X≥n>(∣G∣−r)m{\rm{ind}}\, X\geq n> (|G|-r)m, where r=∣G∣pr=\frac{|G|}{p}. In this work, we estimate the cohomological dimension of the set A(f,H,G)A(f,H,G) of (H,G)(H,G)-coincidence points of ff. Also, we estimate the index of a (H,G)(H, G)-coincidence set in the case that HH is a pp-torus subgroup of a particular group GG and as application we prove a topological Tverberg type theorem for any natural number rr. Such result is a weak version of the famous topological Tverberg conjecture, which was proved recently, fail for all rr that are not prime powers. Moreover, we obtain a generalized Van Kampen-Flores type theorem for any natural number rr.

Bourgin-Yang versions of the Borsuk-Ulam theorem for pp-toral groups

Let VV and WW be orthogonal representations of GG with VG=WG={0}V^G= W^G=\{0\}. Let S(V)S(V ) be the sphere of VV and f:S(V)→Wf : S(V ) \to W be a GG-equivariant mapping. We give an estimate for the dimension of the set Zf=f−1{0}Z_f=f^{-1}\{0\} in terms of dim⁡V \dim V and dim⁡W\dim W, if GG is the torus Tk\mathbb T^k, or the pp-torus Zpk\mathbb Z_p^k. This extends the classical Bourgin-Yang theorem onto this class of groups. Finally, we show that for any pp-toral group GG and a GG-map f:S(V)→Wf:S(V) \to W, with dim⁡V=∞\dim V=\infty and dim⁡W<∞\dim W<\infty, we have dim⁡Zf=∞\dim Z_f= \infty.
