Does the JPC=1+−J^{PC}=1^{+-} counterpart of the X(3872)X(3872) exist?

We explore the possible existence of the JPC=1+−J^{PC}=1^{+-} counterpart of the X(3872)X(3872) state in a coupled-channels calculation within a constituent quark model, with the aim of confirming the existence of the so-called X~(3872)\tilde{X}(3872) state observed by the COMPASS Collaboration. Two states are found in the energy region of the X~(3872)\tilde X(3872) signal, both with almost equal mixture of ccˉc\bar c 21P12^1P_1 state and D∗Dˉ(∗)D^*\bar D^{(*)} channels: One that can be identified as the dressed ccˉc\bar c 21P12^1P_1 and a bound state below the DDˉ∗D\bar D^* threshold. We provide predictions of strong and radiative decays that could help to clarify the existence of such structures.

The Ds0(2590)+D_{s0}(2590)^+ as the dressed csˉ(21S0)c\bar s(2^1S_0) meson in a coupled-channels calculation

The recent discovery of the Ds0(2590)+D_{s0}(2590)^+ meson by the LHCb Collaboration has stimulated the analysis of meson-meson channels effects in the two-body quark-antiquark meson spectrum. This resonance, assigned to the radial excitation of the pseudoscalar Ds+D_s^+ meson, has a mass much lower than the predictions of naive quark models, which could indicate a non-negligible D(∗)K(∗)D^{(*)}K^{(*)} coupling which reduces its mass. Based on the importance of nearby meson-meson thresholds in the dynamics of P-wave DsD_s mesons such as the Ds0∗(2317)+D_{s0}^*(2317)^+ and Ds1(2460)+D_{s1}(2460)^+, in this work we perform a coupled-channels calculation including the D(∗)K(∗)D^{(*)}K^{(*)}, Ds(∗)ωD_s^{(*)}ω and Ds∗ηD_s^*η channels, and study the impact of incorporating those channels in the mass of the bare csˉc\bar s. The coupling between two and four-quark sectors is done by means of the 3P0^3P_0 mechanism, with all the parameters constrained from previous studies of the heavy meson spectroscopy. The masses, widths and production line shapes of the resulting state are analyzed.

Spectroscopy of Bc\mathbf{B_c} mesons and the possibility of finding exotic Bc\mathbf{B_c}-like structures

The bottom-charmed (BcB_c) mesons are more stable than their charmonium (ccˉc\bar c) and bottomium (bbˉb\bar b) partners because they cannot annihilate into gluons. However, the low production cross-sections and signal-to-background ratios avoided until now their clear identification. The recent experimental results reported by CMS and LHCb at CERN open the possibility of having a BcB_c spectrum as complete as the ones of charmonium and bottomonium. Motivated by this expectation, we compute bottom-charmed meson masses in the region energies in which decay meson-meson thresholds are opened, looking for the analogs to the X(3872)X(3872) in the BcB_c spectroscopy. We use a constituent quark model in which quark-antiquark degrees of freedom are complemented by four-body Fock states configurations. The model has been applied to a wide range of hadronic observables, in particular to the X(3872)X(3872), and thus the model parameters are completely constrained. No extra states are found in the JP=0+J^P=0^+ and JP=1+J^P=1^+ sectors. However, in the JP=2+J^P=2^+ sector we found an additional state very close to the D∗B∗D^*B^* threshold which could be experimentally detected.

Bottomonium spectrum revisited

We revisit the bottomonium spectrum motivated by the recently exciting experimental progress in the observation of new bottomonium states, both conventional and unconventional. Our framework is a nonrelativistic constituent quark model which has been applied to a wide range of hadronic observables from the light to the heavy quark sector and thus the model parameters are completely constrained. Beyond the spectrum, we provide a large number of electromagnetic, strong and hadronic decays in order to discuss the quark content of the bottomonium states and give more insights about the better way to determine their properties experimentally.

Canonical description of the new LHCb resonances

The LHCb Collaboration has recently observed four J/ψϕJ/ψϕ structures called X(4140)X(4140), X(4274)X(4274), X(4500)X(4500) and X(4700)X(4700) in the B+→J/ψϕK+B^{+}\to J/ψϕK^{+} decays. We study them herein using a nonrelativistic constituent quark model in which the degrees of freedom are quark-antiquark and meson-meson components. The X(4140)X(4140) resonance appears as a cusp in the J/ψϕJ/ψϕ channel due to the near coincidence of the Ds±Ds∗±D_{s}^{\pm}D_{s}^{\ast\pm} and J/ψϕJ/ψϕ mass thresholds. The remaining three X(4274)X(4274), X(4500)X(4500) and X(4700)X(4700) appear as conventional charmonium states with quantum numbers 33P13^{3}P_{1}, 43P04^{3}P_{0} and 53P05^{3}P_{0}, respectively; and whose masses and widths are slightly modified due to their coupling with the corresponding closest meson-meson thresholds. A particular feature of our quark model is a lattice-based screened linear confining interaction that has been constrained in the light quark sector and usually produces higher excited heavy-quark states with lower masses than standard quark model predictions.

Molecular components in Ds0∗(2317)\mathbf{D_{s0}^{\ast}(2317)} and Ds1(2460)\mathbf{D_{s1}(2460)} mesons

Different experiments have confirmed that the Ds0∗(2317)D_{s0}^{\ast}(2317) and Ds1(2460)D_{s1}(2460) mesons are very narrow states located, respectively, below the DKDK and D∗KD^{\ast}K thresholds. This is markedly in contrast with the expectations of naive quark models and heavy quark symmetry. We address the mass shifts of the csˉc\bar{s} ground states with quantum numbers JP=0+J^{P}=0^{+} (Ds0∗(2317)D_{s0}^{\ast}(2317)) and JP=1+J^{P}=1^{+} (Ds1(2460)D_{s1}(2460)) using a nonrelativistic constituent quark model in which quark-antiquark and meson-meson degrees of freedom are incorporated. The quark model has been applied to a wide range of hadronic observables and thus the model parameters are completely constrained. We observe that the coupling of the 0+0^{+} (1+)(1^{+}) meson sector to the DKDK (D∗K)(D^{\ast}K) threshold is a key feature in lowering the masses of the corresponding Ds0∗(2317)D_{s0}^{\ast}(2317) and Ds1(2460)D_{s1}(2460) states predicted by the naive quark model, but also in describing the Ds1(2536)D_{s1}(2536) meson as the 1+1^{+} state of the jqP=3/2+j_{q}^{P}=3/2^{+} doublet predicted by heavy quark symmetry and thus reproducing its strong decay properties. Two features of our formalism cannot be address nowadays by other approaches: the coupling of the DD-wave D∗KD^{\ast}K threshold in the JP=1+J^{P}=1^{+} csˉc\bar{s} channel and the computation of the probabilities associated with different Fock components in the physical state.

Molecular components in P-wave charmed-strange mesons

Results obtained by various experiments show that the Ds0∗(2317)D_{s0}^{\ast}(2317) and Ds1(2460)D_{s1}(2460) mesons are very narrow states located below the DKDK and D∗KD^{\ast}K thresholds, respectively. This is markedly in contrast with the expectations of naive quark models and heavy quark symmetry. Motivated by a recent lattice study which addresses the mass shifts of the csˉc\bar{s} ground states with quantum numbers JP=0+J^{P}=0^{+} (Ds0∗(2317)D_{s0}^{\ast}(2317)) and JP=1+J^{P}=1^{+} (Ds1(2460)D_{s1}(2460)) due to their coupling with SS-wave D(∗)KD^{(\ast)}K thresholds, we perform a similar analysis within a nonrelativistic constituent quark model in which quark-antiquark and meson-meson degrees of freedom are incorporated. The quark model has been applied to a wide range of hadronic observables and thus the model parameters are completely constrained. The coupling between quark-antiquark and meson-meson Fock components is done using a 3P0^{3}P_{0} model in which its only free parameter γγ has been elucidated performing a global fit to the decay widths of mesons that belong to different quark sectors, from light to heavy. We observe that the coupling of the 0+0^{+} (1+)(1^{+}) meson sector to the DKDK (D∗K)(D^{\ast}K) threshold is the key feature to simultaneously lower the masses of the corresponding Ds0∗(2317)D_{s0}^{\ast}(2317) and Ds1(2460)D_{s1}(2460) states predicted by the naive quark model and describe the Ds1(2536)D_{s1}(2536) meson as the 1+1^{+} state of the jqP=3/2+j_{q}^{P}=3/2^{+} doublet predicted by heavy quark symmetry, reproducing its strong decay properties. Our calculation allows to introduce the coupling with the DD-wave D∗KD^{\ast}K channel and the computation of the probabilities associated with the different Fock components of the physical state.

Next-to-leading order effective field theory ΛN→NNΛN\to NN potential in coordinate space

The potential in coordinate space for the ΛN→NNΛN\to NN weak transition, which drives the weak decay of most hypernuclei, is derived within the effective field theory formalism up to next-to-leading order. This coordinate space potential allows us to discuss how the different contributions to the potential add up at the different scales. Explicit expressions are given for each two-pion-exchange diagram contributing to the interaction. The potential is also reorganized into spin and isospin operators, and the coefficient for each operator is given in analytical form and represented in coordinate space. The relevance of explicitly including the mass differences among the baryons appearing in the two-pion-exchange diagrams is also discussed in detail.

Charmed-strange Meson Spectrum: Old and New Problems

The LHCb Collaboration has recently reported the observation for the first time of a spin-33 resonance in the heavy quark sector. They have shown that the Dˉ0K−\bar{D}^{0}K^{-} structure seen in the Bs0→Dˉ0K−π+B_{s}^{0}\to \bar{D}^{0}K^{-}π^{+} reaction and with invariant mass 2.86 GeV2.86\,{\rm GeV} is an admixture of a spin-11 and a spin-33 resonances. Motivated by the good agreement between our theoretical predictions some time ago and the properties extracted from the experiment of the Ds1∗(2860)D_{s1}^{\ast}(2860) and Ds3∗(2860)D_{s3}^{\ast}(2860) states, we perform an extension of the study of the strong decay properties of the DsJ∗(2860)D_{sJ}^{\ast}(2860) and present the same analysis for the Ds1∗(2700)D_{s1}^{\ast}(2700) and DsJ(3040)D_{sJ}(3040) mesons. This provides a unified and simultaneous description of the three higher excited charmed-strange resonances observed until now. For completeness, we present theoretical results for masses and strong decays of the low-lying charmed-strange mesons and those experimental missing states which belong to the spin-multiplets of the discovered Ds1∗(2700)D_{s1}^{\ast}(2700), DsJ∗(2860)D_{sJ}^{\ast}(2860) and DsJ(3040)D_{sJ}(3040) resonances. The theoretical framework used is a constituent quark model which successfully describes hadron phenomenology from light to heavy quark sectors.

The role of spin-flipping terms in hadronic transitions of Υ(4S)Υ(4S)

Recent experimental data on the Υ(4S)→Υ(1S)ηΥ(4S)\toΥ(1S)η and Υ(4S)→hb(1P)ηΥ(4S)\to h_{b}(1P)η processes seem to contradict the naive expectation that hadronic transitions with spin-flipping terms should be suppressed with respect those without spin-flip. We analyze these transitions using the QCD Multipole Expansion (QCDME) approach and within a constituent quark model framework that has been applied successfully to the heavy-quark sectors during the last years. The QCDME formalism requires the computation of hybrid intermediate states which has been performed in a natural, parameter-free extension of our constituent quark model based on the Quark Confining String (QCS) scheme. We show that i) the M1-M1 contribution in the decay rate of the Υ(4S)→Υ(1S)ηΥ(4S)\toΥ(1S)η is important and its supression until now is not justified; ii) the role played by the L=0L=0 hybrid states, which enter in the calculation of the M1-M1 contribution, explains the enhancement in the Υ(4S)→Υ(1S)ηΥ(4S)\toΥ(1S)η decay rate; and iii) the anomalously large decay rate of the Υ(4S)→hb(1P)ηΥ(4S)\to h_{b}(1P)η process has the same physical origin.

Puzzles in hadronic transitions of heavy quarkonium with two pion emission

We study the anomalously large rates of some hadronic transitions observed in heavy quarkonia using a constituent quark model which has been successful in describing meson and baryon phenomenology. QCD multipole expansion (QCDME) is used to described the hadronic transitions. The hybrid intermediate states needed in the QCDME method are calculated in a natural, parameter-free extension of our constituent quark model based on the Quark Confining String (QCS) scheme. Some of the anomalies are explained due to the presence of a hybrid state with a mass near the one of the decaying resonance whereas others are justified by the presence of molecular components in the wave function. Certain unexpected results are pointed out.
